I was going to post the same type of thing. I am a month out and down 21.5 lbs. Feeling in a funk since Saturday night. Definitely going to talk to my therapist about this, PLUS I had a huuuuuuge fight with my sister. We live together and have these blow ups periodically. Though she was good to me post-op. Want to tell her and the whole world to F-Off. I think I am mourning my food loss, mostly bread. I would sell a kidney for a bagel. LOL Good to know we are not alone in this. I get depressed thinking about the fact that I needed this in the first place. Though most of the time I treat my obesity as an addiction, there is something about feeling like I am not "good" b/c I can't control the eating.

Anyone use Dr. Garber or Dr. Holliver in NY?
TracyNYC posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wondering if there are any other NY Bariatric Group patients on here. I feel we had an excellent pre-op education compared to what I have read on here. Also, I am having my first fill this Thursday and wondered how it works with their practice. -

Thankfully I don't like Peanut Butter or coconut. My 7 year old niece is hiding her candy, not out of greed but b/c "You can't eat that!" LOL I hope to be cleared for exercise soon, though this has never been my strong point. One of our substitute teachers (who was my student BTW) is a personal trainer, I have to pick his brain this week if he is in. I'll let you know how Thursday goes.GL with your fill. -
Any teachers out there?
TracyNYC replied to RebeccaJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Denoument, I do drink in the classroom, which is new b/c old principal would not allow it. New guy says it is OK. However, we can not eat in the room or on non-teaching periods that are not "lunch". The kids are pretty cool about not "snitching", but lately the climate is such that students are being asked to write statements about teachers' habits and procedures. (We now have to return exams within 24hours and must give HW back the same way with ",meaningful comments", -don't ask!!) I am a bit wary of bending too many rules and I did not tell admin why I was out for surgery. I too teach HS, am I correct in guessing from your name you also teach English? -

I was banded 10/5. I hope the fill goes as smoothly for me and for you this time. I did read some negative stuff on here though about the way they do the fills. It had me a little nervous. Did you drink right after to see how it goes down? Dr. Garber was my surgeon, but I met Dr. H in the hospital. (What a cutie, but the nurses aid he knows it too. LOL) Were you on liquids after fill? I love that we went home on mushies. Some of the people seem to be suffering with all the liquid before and after. I am down 21.5, but know I have been eating too much. No PB or slime, def eating more than 1/2 cup servings..... -

Congrats!! I started my NBC, but then never followed through. I too am starving by the time I have lunch at 1:00, But I can't get much down on the earlier non-teaching period, plus if I get caught eating then I will get in BIG trouble from AP. We can only eat on our official lunch pd. I was "spoken to" already for having my oatmeal when I am not teaching 1st pd. So by 1 I am bit too hungry and sometimes eat too fast. So I am eating my first meal at 1, 2nd meal around 5 and 3rd meal around 9. Not great with all the late eating. But I can;t eat at 5:00 when I get up. Can barely get my tea down at 8! -

OLIVE GARDEN under $20.00??
TracyNYC replied to ca7696's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went for Pizza/Italian the other night. I am on mushies, so my gameplan was stuffed shells, that I Un-stuffed. They were not low fat/skim, but I figured that was the best choice. I also ordered meat balls and had 1 that I mushed to death. I know I made the best choices, but would it have been better not to go at all? Still feel guilty. I have not had my first fill yet, Thursday is it! -
I make Ricotta Mush. Low Fat Ricotta, low fat mozzarella, tomato sauce or paste, fresh garlic. SOOOOO GOOOD. Mix it all up and nuke it for a minute or 2. It is ziti with no pasta. I also made hormel 98% ff turkey chilli, with LF cheddar. Very good

Anyone doing weight watchers with there band?
TracyNYC replied to neesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The psychologist at my surgeon said a lot of people do it for the discipline and record keeping once they move to solids. I have heard, that WW is NOT a fan of WLS and I would refrain from mentioning it there. My friend had GBP and was stuck after 4 years (not working it either) when she was struggling and told the leader, the leader told her she has different needs than the other client who were willing to "do the work" and basically shunned her. -
sorry...just so irritated!!!!!!!!!!
TracyNYC replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just found out my close friend re joined WW the week I was banded and I think she feels she can lose just as well, if not better than the band. I know she can be disciplined as I have seen her lose 70 or 80 lbs in the past. I know from past conversations, she feels any of the surgeries are "cheating" and not doing the work. How wrong she is. -
How many pounds have you guys lost in your first 2 weeks after surgery
TracyNYC replied to iHaveh0pe3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to read this. I had no liquid pre-op diet, just 1 day before. I lost 20 lbs at the followup. Banded on 10/5. I dropped by doc's office last week and lost another 1.5 lbs. Was upset w/ that little loss. Getting my fill next Thursday, so maybe will see some loss after that. -
I think the remorse is normal. I have moments where for a brief second I think, "when I am better, I can eat that." and then it hits me, "Uh no you can't" I will never "be better", just like any other addict, no cure, but recovery. The sabotage from friends has started. Suddenly my BFFs, who each have 2 kids and NEVER can go out to eat or socialize w/o kids, want to go out to eat and one is having a cocktail party next week. I mean really, these kids have been around for 14years and you won't take a walk to the corner w/o them and the month I get banded the parties start...... Oversensitive...yeah just a tad! LOL I have my first out to dinner this Thursday w/ staff before report card night. I have a plan: stuffed shells and I will pick out the cheesy mixture. I know it is not LF, but it will be the best choice. The cocktail party is next week and I am bringing refried bean dip, so I can have some! It is a series of ups and downs, both on and off the scale.

TracyNYC replied to mellabella78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome loss! I am down 21.5 and was banded on 10/5/09. Hope I do as well. -
Sorry I did not answer, did not know I had a message.... I went to surgeon for follow up on the 15th and was down 20 lbs! I went today just to pick up some protein stuff and was unofficially weighed and am down another 1.5. I was a bit disappointed, but I am eating more than at the beginning. How are you doing? I hope well.
Take care, Tracy

How bad is soda for the band, really?
TracyNYC replied to Pangaeus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My friend had gastric bypass, and even though they told her no soda ever, she started drinking it the day she got home. Her new pouch is now completely stretched and her doc wants her to either be banded or have stoma-fix. She claims they never told her why not to have it! I say so what? If they say no, it's no. That is a lesson I carry with me when I want to push the limits. She was close to 500lbs. and it is 5 years later. She has lost about 75 all told. Stretching the pouch with carbonation allows you to eat more.
