I have been overweight since the age of 12. I have gained, losed and re-gained my weight since my teens. The most successful life-style I have found pre-surgery is Weight Watchers and it makes the most sense (calories in, calories out). I have been living in the matrix known as Weight Watchers for the last 6 years now. I call it the Matrix because I see everything in "Points." Now that Weight Watchers has giving me the mind-set tool I need to be successful on my weight loss journey, my hope is that the lap-band will be a physical-tool that gives me further success on this journey. My goal is to loose 65 pounds in 65 weeks. I would love to loose 2-3 pounds a week, but I know there will be set backs, trials and tribulations and I am prepared for them having an impact on my weekly weight loss. So, 1 pound a week seems realistic.I am being banded on 11/13/08 (Friday the 13th) in Mexico with Dr. Ortiz at the Obesity Control Center. I chose him for reputation, quality and low cost. I am financing this journey on my own and I am happy that I will not be going into debt over it. I know the band is merely a tool but boy do I need a safety net when it comes to filling full and satisfied. Now that I have made the decision to go down this path I feel somewhat regretful that I did not start my reaserch sooner and get the procedure done a long time ago (specifically in March - May 2009 when I was laid-off and given a full severence package). But I guessI cant look back...only forward.
