  1. I just want to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread. I had been away from here for about a month and since my surgery in early October I have not had a chance to get my first fill. I was actually getting discouraged and thinking to myself that maybe I made a mistake in doing this because I had only lost 12 lbs initially and now I am at 10lbs lost and maintaining. I have been wondering if fills would really make a difference since I was never a really "bad food" eater. My portions have always been smaller than most only because I have never wanted to gain alot more weight.

I feel what some of you have said because I have been dieting or at least not ever given myself the liberty to eat whatever I want since the age of 5. That's why I never reached a higher weight/BMI. Now I see that I need to keep my thoughts positive because alot of you have done this! I just need to get on track and get my first fill already!! Did anyone else have trouble with PBs two months after surgery without any fills? I feel like now I could possibly get my fill because I have not PBd in over two weeks.....any thoughts?

  2. I had my surgery in Tijuana MX in October of this year with Dr Pedro Kuri. There are good docs and bad docs everywhere and Dr. Kuri is a GREAT doc with ALOT of experience. His team along with the facilities are excellent and I do not hesitate in recommending him. He makes it easy for you to have transportation, lodging, and testing and it's all included with his pricing. You can message me if you have any questions! Good luck on your journey.....by the way if you need more information on him he has a webpage. I believe it's lapbandsurgery.com

  3. Hi there,

I got banded on 10/3 and have only lost 12 lbs so far. That's a great loss if you consider it's only about 2 months ago and I have not exercised yet due to my back problems. I have also not had my first fill yet as I am still having trouble getting used to not eating too quickly and frequently PB. I am still working on eating slower and chewing but all in all I am happy with the band. I am more conscious of my decisions concerning food which is good and as soon as I feel physically well I will start exercising.

It is a bit discouraging to see how much others are losing but you have to keep remembering we weren't weighing as much so our weight loss will be slower. All in all as long as I can lose weight without taking diet pills and while getting my health to improve, that's all I want! Of course I keep waiting for the day I can say I have lost 50-70 lbs but I have set that goal way out as to not get disappointed:) Good luck don't be nervous! You will be fine.

  4. Hello all, I was just banded on 10/3 and started my soft food diet this weekend. I am having a hard time with it. Everything I swallow it seems I can feel going down and it is not a pleasant feeling. I chew like crazy but I almost want to go back to liquids because this feeling is awful. I have even gotten stuck a few times and the sheer desperation of it is terrible. Do you all experience this? Will it go away?? Any suggestions??

  5. Thanks for the support, yes there is loads of nice soft food choices, but the dietitian who works along side my surgeon has all his patients on the same LAP-BAND® diet. It was great to start with because it misses out the liquid stage. After surgery it was 2 weeks of pureed food, now 2 weeks of soft food then on to normal food.

The problem is this 2 tablespoons worth of food requirement. When I went over to see her she insisted I stick to it until I see the doctor on the 30th Oct. So all I can eat is 2 spoons of mince/fish with 2 spoons of veg and a small potato !!!!!

I should be the happiest guy on earth, the weight is dropping off me but I am in starving and do not have any energy at all.

I was not joking when I said I hardly have the energy to climb the stairs.

I will stick this out until I see the doctor but I am convinced this cannot be the right way to lose weight or healthy for me.

I would say try the 2 T of all those things together first and see how your stomach feels. If it feels full, then I would say she is giving you the measurements because they're calculating the size of the pouch. If you are so low on energy I would add in a drinkable Protein. I bet you are hardly getting what you need. But you're right you should not be feeling this bad, that's why you are not happy. We are the ones who know our bodies best so call your doctor NOW and insist on the low energy! He/She should help. Good luck and keep me updated.

  6. I'm having a struggle with this myself. I have lost maybe 8 lbs in a week which is alot for me (I started at 209lbs). I feel like I cannot possible drink enough to get alot of Protein in, and yes I too have been dreaming of food. HA

I hope it gets better, I am only a week out but would love to even be able to eat soft food. The only thing that keeps me on track is knowing that this is an important part of the healing process. Have you gone online to see what type of sample soft food diets there are? You'll be surprised at what you can eat. Also, you should eat until you feel satisfied not just 2 T of food.
