    September Bandsters

What is the next challenge after the St. Patrick's Day challenge? I want to get involved in something. Thanks!
  2. My 6 month bandiversary was yesterday. I am exactly 33% to my weight goal. What percentage is everyone else?
  3. I can't speak for anyone else, but I drink carbonated beverages almost every day. I try to stick with diet, but sneak in regular sodas to give me the sugar that I feel that I need. I figure that if I work my butt off in the gym to burn 700 calories, I deserve a regular soda Anyway, after the first 6 weeks after being banded, my doctor says soda is fine. I think you are to avoid it for a day or two after fills too, but I never have.
  4. I find myself snacking in early to late afternoon, when my band loosens up. I almost consider it an extension of the lunch I didn't get to finish because I was tight. I usually have a protein shake or oatmeal for breakfast around 8:00, a light lunch around 11:30 (restriction is still tight), then around 3:00 or 4:00 I get snackey. I'll grab whatever is around my desk - a pudding pack, some cheese, or sometimes a vending machine treat. I then have dinner between 6 and 8, and I'm good for the evening.

    Bummer.....I am shedding.

I have been banded for 5 1/2 months. I saw my hairdresser today for a cut and highlights, and she told me that my hair is actually stronger and thicker now than before. I have used Nioxin about once a week, and that's it. And taking my Vitamins and eating Protein. She told me that she thinks the regular hair trims (every 4-6 weeks) and the color on my hair (highlights all over) is making it very strong. We use Paul Mitchell color with beeswax. I just wanted to give everyone that tip. Maybe you should try some color to help heal your hair. Nioxin works well too, but when I used it every day it dried my hair out. Now it's just once a week. If you have any questions, let me know.

If this is the type of group to criticize and talk negatively about other members, I guess I am just in the wrong place. Best wishes everyone!

    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

I am going to be very vocal here and state that comments like this do not help me become committed to this group, or do not help me feel optimistic about my progress: "Cassandra I’m going to beat you with that racquetball racquet and burn 1000 calories if you don’t watch what you are eating. I’m sure that was not a typical day of eating. Keep up the great exercise." I joined this group for encouragement, not criticism. I lost 3 pounds last week, and 2.4 pounds this week. and YES, I did that drinking cherry coke, I ate some cake, I had steak and a baked potato, hot wings and even apple crisp! The key is that I worked my ass off at the gym! And if I want to spend several hours a week getting a good workout, sweating and burning calories, that is my decision. If I want to have a soda with all of the calories I want, that is also my decision. I am already losing more than we are supposed to with this band, which as we all know is 1.5 - 2 pounds per week. I think I am doing a fantastic job, but yes, I do need motivation from friends. What I don't need is for someone to bitch at me for every mistake I make. I need encouragement and friends, and for someone to look at the full picture (total weight lost) versus just what I'm eating. If I burn off a ton of calories, I can eat whatever the hell I want. So, let's make this a more positive team instead of just griping at everyone's mistakes. What do you say?

    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

Here are my notes from Friday: B: Muscle Milk, hot green tea L: french onion soup, salad, hamburger patty (about 1/2) with cheese, a few fries, chocolate chip cookie S: cupcake D: Applebees weight watchers menu: steak and shrimp skewers with broccoli (and no rice). I didn't finish it all, and shared some of it. And a margarita 1 1/2 hours of racquetball, which would equate to just over 1000 calories. I guess that makes up for my bad food yesterday By the way, I beat my male friend who weighs half of what I do. He told me that he was going to win because "he is more athletic than I am". Well....I nipped that in the bud and kicked his A$$! Afterward I said, "I bet you didn't think you'd lose to the fat chick" and he asked me not to tell anyone that he lost. I don't think I'm going to make it to the gym today, but I have to paint a dresser and finish painting my bedroom, so I will definitely be getting several hours of muscle movement in. I guess that counts too

    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

Good morning Gang!!! I just wanted to post that as of this morning, I am officially 25% to my weight goal! It has taken 5 months to get there, but now that I am working out and getting near the sweet spot, I hope to accelerate a little bit to losing 2 lbs. a week. What percentage to goal is everyone else, and how long has it taken you to get there?

    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

My weekly weigh in is 241.6 lbs, down exactly 3 lbs from last Sunday. I walked my dog yesterday, even though it was 30 degrees, icy and windy - we briskly walked for about 40 minutes. I have been eating well- at Chili's last night I shared an appetizer (I had some spinach and artichoke dip, 1 southwestern egg roll and 1 buffalo wing), grilled tilapia, steamed broccoli and a few bites of rice. and Water the whole day! My only variation was a glass of tea in the afternoon. My friend and I are going shopping today and will be doing a lot of walking. The dinner menu includes KC Strip, probably some tomatoes in olive oil, fresh mozzarella and a steamed veggie. Breakfast will be a Protein shake, and just a snack for lunch. This week I am going to work out 4 times and hopefully lose 2.5 lbs. I have my 4th fill tomorrow and it will probably make me extra tight for a few days, so now is the time to lose! :scared:

Good evening, I finally had a good day today! I had my vitamins and lots of water. Here are my meals: Breakfast - oatmeal Snack - pudding cup Lunch- dirty rice with 93% lean beef, 2 bites of yogurt (everything got stuck, and it took me over an hour to eat) Snack - pudding cup, white birthday cake Dinner - small steak, goat cheese, a couple of bites of fresh mozzarella, a few wheat thins, skim milk I'll probably have an orange or banana before bed. I also worked out - did some stretches and a 25 minute Pilates video. Not too bad for my first workout in months!

    September Bandsters

I'm still here! I'm down 20.8 lbs. so far, but wish it were more like twice that. I have another fill in 2 weeks, which I think will help. I'm also starting to work out, and focus on protein. How is everyone else doing? Are there any other September Bandsters from the Kansas City area?

How can I join this group and your current challenge? I have read through all of the posts and really feel this group is one I could get along very well with, and that I could thrive with. I would love to join, even if I'm a little bit late. What do I need to do? Cassandra

    My first NSV!!!

After 2 months and 7 days, I am only down 13 pounds. However, I went today and purchased the same pair of black pants that I love, but in a smaller size! How many pounds do people typically lose between one size and the next one down? Thanks!
  24. What is everyone's favorite liquid meal?? Boost, Ensure, Slim Fast, Muscle Milk, etc, etc, etc. What are your favorite flavors?

    What color/race do you see?

I am white. I am dating a man who is black. My mother does not care, my step-father does. I have dated two black people in the past, a few mixed race people, one Indian, one Mexican and the rest have been white. I think race is all what we make of it. I could let my step-father's feelings affect me and not allow myself to date a wonderful person of another race. Instead, I realize that I am an adult and make my own decisions for myself. We all have the choice of whether or not to be racist, just like we decide whether or not to go to college or anything else. My grandparents, who are in their 80's, still call black people "the coloreds". When I got out of a serious relationship she sent me a note and said that she hopes I find a good Christian man with good values to spend the rest of my life with (I am only 24). Ironically, I just met a wonderful man last week. I would love to send her an email and say, "Grandma, I met the love of my life. By the way, he is black." - but that would probably give her a heart attach
