  4. Dear LapHappy, I too have fallen off the wagon. I was banded 11/07 I started out at 225 lowest weight with band was apprx 183 now I am back to 195 after losing 5lib over the last fw weeks. I will admit I have cheated, drank h2o while eating so I can eat more etc... I never really felt restriction. Approx 2 mths after i had the lapband surgery, i started with so GI issues. I was told I had IBS Irritable bowel sydrome. This was/is very difficult to deal with. i have not see my dr in about 18mts. I too am afraid of wht he will say. I am afraind he is going to tell me that i hve to have the band removed due to the IBS, but then i think maybe i want it removed because of the IBS... It is fustrating. I am soo sorry to just go on and on about this. I dont know anyone who has the band. I have one friend that had the gastric bypass she lost 150lb looks andfeel great and just doesnt understand or remember being overweight, etc... may be we can start the process over as a group of banders who are recommiting? LEt me know how you do and keep in touch RiceChex:crying: (christina)
  5. I was banded 11/06 starting weigt 225 todays weigt 195 ,lowest post band 183 I too seem not to be able to lose the weight as others do. I have to admit i dont work out as much as I would like. I do cheat from time to time. I have never felt any restrictions wth my band. I know its restricting becasuse when I eat rice or certain noodles or bread too fast/ dont chew well, it gets stuck and I have to Pb to relieve it. I am going back to my Dr. and starting the process over again for the most part. Have the Dr. Completely unfill me then starting the iflls again etc.. I hope it works. Good luck to you. I dont know if my situation helps you any, but know we are all in it together.

    Is this feeling normal?

Hi, sorry u are in so much pain. Do u still have your Gal Bladder? it sounds to me that you have Gal Stones and may need your Gal Bladder removed. I had the same problem and that is what it was. The only thing that gave me some slight relief prior to the surgery was a tsp of baking soda ( arm n hammer) with approx 4 oz of luke warm water and this helped the pain and air pockets ( gas) try it let me know what it turns out to be.. Good Luck Rice Chex (Christina)
  7. Hi everyone!. I have not been on for a long time. I actually needed to reregister, it has been that long. I was banded 11/04/06 First Fill 12/31/06 second fill Feb/07 pre band weight 225 total weight lost 40lbs current weight 194.5 1 month prior to my surgery my gal bladder was removed, result of all the pre op testing etc... Jan of 07 while in Disney, I became ill immediately after eating luch. ( was not food poisning) Over the next few months, I would have attacks. 20 min after I ate I would have severe lower abd pain, relieved by a BM. These attacks would last for a few hrs. This went on for several months. Colonoscopy- neg endoscpoy- ned food allergy testing- neg, celiacs- neg I take lactose pills before I eat, sometime dairy affects me. After several years of this fustration, and only having 2 fills, i am at the point of thinking of having the band removed. I became so afraid to receive fills due to the GI issues. My Dr. said that you may have tolerance issues with the band, but not like this. I dont PB unless I eat bread or rice too quickly. I am told that this is all in my head. I need so suggestions. Has anyone ever expierenced anything like this? Could it be the band or Irritable Bowel Syndromes, and if so could that be caused from the band? Shoulld I see my Dr. who i have not seen in over a year, and have him unfill me, then start the fills all over again and really stick to it? Or do I see if the insurance will cover the cost for the removal???? I am losing sleep over this. I am cranky all the time. My husband is wonderful, but he can only take so much. My daugthers, 5&7 tell me it is ok for me to stay home if my belly hurst again.... Sorry so long. I quess I needed to get 2 years of holding it in to my self out...... Thanks for taking the time to read and post yout thoughts..
  8. sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. Have you asked your Dr. why they placed the smaller band? This almost sounds as if it is malpractice. He/she should know what size band is required. I have the small band, for I only needed to loose 60lbs at the most. It really was more like 40lb. I had the band because of an injury I am unable to excercise. Good luck

    Lactose intolerance

About 2 months after my surgery (11/06) I started haveing GI issues. approx 20 min after I ate, i would have severe pains, relieved by an immediate BM. After several tests, etc, it was determined that i was Lactose Intolerant. I started taking costco brand lactaid. works great. although, even if i dont eat any dairy/lactose foods, i occasionaly have these GI issues, which last for several hours. my GI Dr says it could be IBS Irritable Bowel Syndrome caused by the band. Does anyone else have anything similair to this??? thank
