Problems after first fill :(
XxMariposaxX replied to BandedBeauty66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It did not happen to me however, I am really tight in the morning. My doctor suggests that after a fill or stuck episode you do 48 hours of liquids followed by 48 hours of mushies. -
That was the same situation with my insurance. WLS and anything related to it is excluded. If I had a hiatal hernia repaired I would've only had to pay for the band but everything else would've been covered. Fills were excluded as well but the doctor was willing to give me a break if I paid cash for the fills. It turned out that I didn't have a hernia so, I went to Mexico and had my band installed by Dr. Ortiz.

what is your post-op protein requirement?
XxMariposaxX replied to cduval04's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was told 50 grams but I think that's based on weight. I usually get in about 70 grams a day from tuna, chicken and fish. -
What can you add to your protein shake?
XxMariposaxX replied to Itsforlife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I mix it with sugar free hazelnut or other sugar free syrups like the kinds you put in coffee. -
How soon can I go back to work?
XxMariposaxX replied to HAL380's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took off 2 weeks after surgery and am SO happy I did! I work at a desk but was not ready to drive until 1 week after surgery because I was sore in the stomach area. It also would've been weird at work because of food restraints within the first 2 weeks. -
Did something very naughty, paid for it BIG time
XxMariposaxX replied to voodoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that after a stuck episode I am to be on liquids for 24 hours then mushies for 24 hours because of the swelling. Eating solids before then could cause a band slippage. -
Port feels like a 5lb weight
XxMariposaxX replied to coilygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same feeling. It helped to sleep "hugging" a pillow. I promise that feeling does go away. As for the reflux, definatly call your surgeon ASAP because you should not be having that issue. -
Restriction, my friend? You ROCK!
XxMariposaxX replied to JoiaRox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with you all! Restriction feels glorious! I had my first fill yesterday (5ccs) and am on liquids for the next day & a half and then mushies for 2 days. I am so amazed at how liquid is keeping me satisifed! -
How Many cc's in your band and how is
XxMariposaxX replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have 5cc in my 11cc realize band. I can only "eat" liquids for the next 2 days and feel restriction. -
My port is underneath my largest incision, like 1" below.

Any recent Juarez, Mexico banding experiences?
XxMariposaxX replied to bigpops's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I worked with Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana and can't say anything bad about my experience wth him. -
Aftering being banded, how much weight did you loose until the first fill??
XxMariposaxX replied to mears06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 17lbs on the pre-surgical diet & 5lbs in the 4 weeks since surgery. I'm going for my first fill tonight. -

Sick of protein shakes!
XxMariposaxX replied to ldsparnell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Protein shots I've had do taste bad! I have a few ways of getting the protein in.. in the morning i have 4oz. skim, 4-8 oz decaf coffee (i perfer cold), 1 serviing of vanilla protein and 3tbs of sugar free flavored syrup. Greek yogurt has lots of protein and is very filling. Tuna fish also has alot of protein. -
Loving my pre-op diet!
XxMariposaxX replied to mimi368's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too didn't mind the pre-op diet. I figured that it would be a "cleansing" of sorts to rid my body of toxins before the surgery. I always had water on hand to quash the hunger pangs and that helps alot! -
Can't quite figure this out.

Loosing inches makes for great NSVs! Are you keeping track of your measurements? -
Has anyone gone to mexico for lap-band?
XxMariposaxX replied to grni77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in Mexico and everything went well. I had lined up my aftercare well before my surgery and have had great results since. I used Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana and I can't say enough about how wonderful he and his staff were to me! The flying after the surgery was a bit tough because I was sore but I can't complain about anything else. Good Luck on your journey. -
Newly banded and frustrated - HELP
XxMariposaxX replied to Shelley8882's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm still a newbie here as well. I found that if I don't get enough water in throughout the day it hurts my weightloss. Also, I haven't been working out at all this week and I find that that isn't helping me either. Are you working out? My doctor suggested that I walk a minimum of 4 hours a week. -
What was ESSENTIAL Post-op - Comfort and Food wise
XxMariposaxX replied to pmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lip Balm, Gas-X Strips, Liquid Tylenol, Liquid Vitamins, Calcium Chews, Crystal Light, Decaf Coffee/Tea, Low-sodium broth, a pillow to rest against your stomach when sleeping and loose sweats. -
I take two children's multi-vitamins in the morning. 1 Viative 2 hours later and another Viactive in the evening.

No- No to bread, pasta and rice why??
XxMariposaxX replied to Mapasanchez's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a forkfull of rice the other day to see if I can tolerate it and it gave me a stomach ache. Other bandsters have said that rice is a no-no because it expands in your pouch. Bread is a no-no because it's gummy & will get stuck. Pasta is off limits because it's empty calories, it's way better to eat something more filling with Protein.
