I just turned 37 years old. I started gaining weight when I went off to college. Before then I played sports in middle and high school and was very slim. I have been struggling since college. I have tried many diets, pills, exercise clubs...you name it, I've tried it. My mother was actually the one who started talking about the Lapband. I started researching it and after reading the good and bad, I believe that this is the best option for me. I understand that this is a tool and know that I have to put in the work as well. I have finally come to a point in my life that I am ready to work on my weight and do something about it FOR ME! My mother and husband are my biggest supporters. My husband tells me all the time that I am sexy and look good to him but this is about how I feel about myself and what I want to do going forward. I have struggled with infertility and after adopting and finally having a pregnancy result in a full-term birth, I want to do what I can to be there for my children. I hate that when we go to the park or play together, I am out of breath and can't keep up with them. I want to teach them through my example about eating right and taking care of your body. I have thought about this long and hard. This is not a quick-fix for me anymore. I want a lifetime result.
