I've been over weight as long as I can remember. I always thought I was ok as a child but looking at pictures now, I was chunky. I guess being over weight runs in the family. My mom and aunt are over weight and so is my grandmother. Looking back even 5 years ago I knew I was over weight and tried losing it, but it wasn't a huge concern. I didn't think I was THAT big. I've been married for almost 4 years and have gained almost 60 lbs.......60!!! In 4 years. Ugh. I'm done though!!!! No more! I'm taking control of my life, of my future, and of my health. I'm tired of trying every diet under the sun, working out, and then failing in the end. I've done Weight Watchers more times than I can cound. I've tried South Beach Diet, low carb diets, 6 Week Body Makeover, the Fat Smash Diet (from Celebrity Fit Club).....Many more that I can't even remember. I've always failed.
When the option for Lap Band was brought to my attention, I had to think hard about it. I never wanted to do WLS because I felt like it was the easy way out. I broke down infront of my doctor when she suggested it. Looking more and more into it and listening to what my surgeon said at his seminar, I realize that some people CAN'T lose the weight on their own. They NEED a "tool" to help them along.
My husband and I agreed that this is the solution to lead me to a healthy life. We are hoping that once my journey is done we will be able to TTC our first. I have the support of my family and some of the few friends I have told. I haven't told many friends because frankly it's really none of their business and I don't want to hear a lecture about "eating right and working out". Once the weight starts coming off and they begin to ask how I'm doing it, I'll tell the truth. Until then I'm doing good with the support I'm getting right now.
Ok. Looks like I've rambled on enough. Lol. Feel free to message me!
Oh and quickly....I'm 24 (25 in December). Married to a man in the US Air Force. No kids. Just bought a house at our new duty station......I was diagnosed with PCOS the same day my doctor suggested Lap Band. Anything else you would like to know, just ask.
