    Eating

Hummus is good and healthy. Scrambled eggs. I did some spaghetti squash with a bit of low sugar marinara and a tbsp of low fat ricotta...sort of a mock lasagna-ish type of thing. It's been over a month since my surgery (10-26) and my first fill isn't until 12-28. I have had a morning star spicy black bean patty before and chewed it very very well. Also I made alittle low fat creamed spinach that I sort of made up on my own. Good luck...you have to get really creative. I'm excited for my fill but still have a little bit to weight. Soups are still really good too but add Protein like the other person said. Good luck :tongue2:
  5. Great. Good luck on your move. And yes we can talk anytime. I'm stuck at 35 lbs and got my 2nd fill today. So i'm praying this will help.

How am I doing so far?

You are doing awesome. I was banded 10-26-09 and have lost 27 lbs. I am sort of stuck at the 25-27 lb range. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy but my first fill isn't until 12-28. We just have to watch what we eat and make healthy choices is all, even though its hard. I can eat more than 2 ounces as well. I try and eat slow and chew 1000 times like I'm supposed too. I gave up diet dr. pepper but just recently started drinking cafeine. I do drink a lot of iced tea and I know that is less caffeine than coffee but I still drink a lot of Fluid and have started back at the gym doing cardio. I think we will see another phase of weight loss once we get our first fills. You'll have to let me know how that goes. I've read so many horror stories about that, I'm sort of nervous. I just measured myself and have lost 3" in three different areas...which just pushes my happiness to a whole other level. This is a lifestyle change and not a quick fix. Your weight loss is great and just a few more days til your first fill. You can do it! Keep it up! I have to try and stay away from the scale except once a week. Its not just weight loss but how your clothes feel etc. Good luck! Let me know how the first fill goes!
  7. Hey. I came across you while looking for Indiana or Indianapolis groups etc. I am moving to Indianapolis in a few weeks, relocating from Conntecticut.

I was banded 10-26-09 and am stuck at 27 lbs. My first fill is 12-28 but I'm flying back to CT to see my Dr for it. I have a new doctor in Indy named Margaret Inman. I have a "new patient post op" consult Jan 18th and a fill by her would of been after that. Thought I better do the first fill with my Dr here. God forbid I wait longer to get more effective restriction. Maybe we can talk more and discuss all of this while going forward. I'm just about a month behind you in our surgery date.

Good luck and hope to hear from you.

  8. I am 14 days post op. Meeting with Dr for the first time tomorrow and am going to advance to "mushy/puree" stage. On my list it says sugar free yogurt? Does that even exist? I heard the Greek Style is good but its def got carbs? Any suggestions? I'm sure there are some carb control ones out there but just not sure. Thanks in advance for help.
  9. GNC Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 3 scoops in 12 oz of Water = 280 Calories 7 carbs 1 gr fat 60 grams of Protein.....you read right....60! I'm on my 2nd week post op and I make one shake in the morning. drink 2 - 4 each meal time...or just go in there and take a sip. Leave it in a shaker bottle in the fridge. Choc and vanilla are good. You can spice them up with flavored extracts. The chocolate is good with some coconut and almond extract...sort of a Almond Joy taste! Good Luck.
  10. THe OH YEAH shakes at GNC are great. Chocolate is all I have tried. Plus I use their AWP line...advanced wheybolic protein...I think. That has 50 or 60 grams of protein. I use the choc or vanilla and mix with really cold water. When making my own protein shakes I use flavored extract.....vanilla, almond, coconut, banana. You can do a variety of different kinds. Good luck!

    OMG it's in one week!

Good Luck. I was banded a week ago today!!!!!!!!!!! I had those shots in the hospital. They said they might prescribe them for me at home as well but didn't. You'll do great!

I did not sign up for this!

I was banded Monday 10-26-09. Like the others said, you aren't supposed to have a fill for several weeks out. Take care of yourself and I promise it will get better. Don't let this get you down!

    Banded yesterday

Hi There. I was banded on Monday. You will feel better daily. The morphine in the hospital only took the edge off. Like you, the port site was my most painful when I would get up and down. That gets easier and less sore, I promise. I think the gas/trapped air issue was killing me. Walking helps alot. I'm on all liquids until 11-11-09 when my first follow up visit it. Out of 40-55 ounces of non caloric Fluid, 8-12 have to be Protein so I just make one Protein shake and drink it at meal times and just sip throughout the day. All you do is just sip sip sip. I promise you will feel a bit better each day. Good luck.
