I've struggled to lose weight for most of my life. A few times I was able to get within range of a healthy weight but maintaining it was never a success. I've tried just about everything, Optifast, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Slimfast, Cabbage soup diet, Nutrisystem, the list goes on and on. I always lost weight and i ALWAYS gained it back and then some. I've been in therapy, I've taken diet pills, I've exercised, etc., etc. I was always active, working in restaurants, believe it or not, kept me from gaining too much weight because I was always on the move. A few years ago, I had an accident at work: fell and fractured my shoulder and herniated a couple of discs in my neck. That was the beginning of the downward (or should I say upward?) slide to morbid obesity. After a year of surgery, recovery and relative inactivity the weight had begun to pile on. When I was able to work again it was in an office so no more running around for 8 - 10 hours a day. I worked in an office full of women and the snacking was out of control for all of us. After a few more failed attempts at dieting I decided to do some research about weight loss surgery. It wasn't until one of my co-workers had Lap-Band surgery and I saw her results that I got serious. I had my surgery on Sept 18 so at this point I'm only 3 weeks post surgery, but I've already lost about 12 pounds and I already feel better! I'm so thankful that this avenue was open to me and I look forward to every day now instead of dreading getting out of bed!
