Hello. Let's see.....first and foremost I'm mother to the most beautiful, adorable precocious 4 year old on the face of the planet. I'm married to a man that adores me. So I should be happy. And for the most part, I am. But I'm obese, and have been since I was a teenager. I've gained and lost hundreds of pounds in my lifetime. Today is my 30th birthday and I am deciding to take charge of this one thing for myself. I have tried diet after diet after diet. I have just started the process for getting the LAP-BAND (or the other brand name, whatever that's called). Hopefully this will be a positive, upbeat experience and a great start for the rest of my life. Update...it's now February 1, a little over a month since surgery. I had a very rough start with recovery and was in a lot of pain (which from what I've been told was from the hiatal hernia repair they also did in surgery). After about the 10 day/2 week mark I started feeling like myself. I had lost 6 pounds post op, then gained 6 back once I started on solids, so it was pretty depressing for a while there. Thankfully, my doctor is FANTASTIC and is aggressive and gave me a good fill a couple of weeks ago and I'm feeling great. I'm hoping this feeling lasts, but only time will tell. Lost those pesky 6 pounds again, and finally feel like the scale is working with me instead of against me. Stay tuned for further adventures....
