    Nauseated

Band does not retain all fluid all the time. Evaporation can happen. They pull out before a fill, measure what is left, then flush it clean, then refill. I don't think naseau would happen by the band leaking because it would leak into the abdominal cavity, not the stomach. Hope all goes well

    No weight loss, weight gain

If you can't eat meat your band is WAY TOO TIGHT!!!! Not good!

    Flipped port?

Hey this sounds familiar to me. I recently started feeling a bruised feeling in my left side. I never could feel my port before and now I feel like a hard ball feeling at that area on my side. Is that what you are talking about, a bump feeling? Could it be my port has flipped? How would I know? I am going to call the doctor. It still feels tender on my side. Any ideas?

I Am KINKED Again!!!! and in discomfort.

Just curious. What does the kink feel like? For the last couple days I have been feeling very sore in my side. I am not sure what could be causing it. I can actually feel the port and I couldn't before. It also feels like it is in a different place then where I got the fill. So, I am wondering if something has happened to the port.

    Am I Overfilled??

Do any of you get your fills while being x-rayed? I had my first one today and they did it on the moving x-ray so I could see everything going down. My doc made sure it was all good before I was able to go. Just curious. I hear some people actually get the fills in their doctors office.

    confused about restriction

Hi all. I just got my first fill today. A little late, but I was traveling a lot and didn't wanna be out of the area after I got a fill. The fill went good. I saw on the moving x-ray the fluid going down and it seemed like it was gonna be good restriction. I have a 10cc band and he put in 1.4cc's. We are gonna see how this does. He said to stay on liquids today and go back to regular food but I am super curious if I notice a difference after I eat. I will keep you posted.

    Can't take it anymore!

Just curious...how do you unfill on your own? Scary...he-he I am fairly new to be banded. Banded on 2/2 and down 22 lbs. Slowly coming off, no fill yet. As long as I keep losing, I will not get a fill. It had stopped for a while and just started coming off again. Bout 1-2 lbs a week now. So, I put off getting filled. I don't want to ever PB or slime, etc. My doc said I should never be doing that, and if he fills me and that happens then he wont keep it that way. He said that isn't want is supposed to happen. Anyway, wish you luck!!!!!!

    Sweet Spot?

Hi. I want to know what sweet spot means for you. Does sweet spot mean you are at such a restriction you don't feel hungry? Does it mean that you are so tight that you can't get anything down even if you wanted to? I know some banders purposely keep their band tighter. I was just curious what defines a sweet spot to you. Tightness, not hungry, prone to a lot of PB'n so you are afraid to eat anything, feel no hungry but can eat most foods, etc.... Just wanna know. I am going for my first fill in a couple weeks. Also, once you hit your sweet spot...did you start losing again? I have stopped losing since surgery. I ask myself if I am doing something wrong! I think maybe I should go on a diet.

How often do you get filled?

Dani-X How do you define your sweet spot? Are you PB'ing at all? When you are tight like the way you like, what foods do you eat? Just curious because I am going for my first fill in a couple of weeks.

    Sweet Spot?

I wonder why people live with PB'ing on a daily basis, even though they know that is a sign they are too tight. Just have read a few posts that seem crazy to me to live like that. I just read one where someone says she PB's 5 times a day but is willing to continue because at least she is losing weight. ????? Am I missing something?

    Is this normal?

I have not lost weight in the last week and a half. It is depressing. I have not had my first fill yet. I am hoping that will help me lose again. I guess the only way I deal with it is try to think that it will happen. However, the old me, thinks of this as..great 'I will not be successful at this either!'....That is a great fear of mine. I am still trying to understand where the weightloss really comes from. Half of the boards talk about not being able to eat because they are too tight, or too afraid. Is fear and lack of physically being to eat what causes success on this? That is what I sometimes think. Or is it, that with the right fill, I will have more control and still be able to eat healthy, etc? I hope this is the case. I don't want to live my life with this PB'ing, sliming, or being afraid of having lunch with my customers and getting something caught like that.

    SO supportive.

There is a difference between being nonconfrontational and being someone who asserts herself and sticks up for herself when needed. Please remember that you are a human being and not a door mat to be stepped on. Try to DEAL with your situations instead of NOT DEALING because you don't want to be 'confrontational'. Work on it if you can. I know you can't change over night. You are the only one who has the power to teach people how to treat you. You have to give yourself the permission to speak up for yourself. If you don't WHO WILL!!!

    Sweet Spot?

Thanks guys for the information. I definitely don't want to be so tight that I lose weight because I can't eat anything without it getting stuck or fear of something coming back up or anything like that. I feel hungry right now between meals. I can eat whatever I want pretty much...bread, etc... I do get that golf ball feeling in my throat sometimes, which I don't really know what that is from. I guess I need to know if I should feel hungry being banded, and if not, does that mean I need a fill?

    Can't take it anymore!

ya, what is that feeling of a lump in your throat sometimes?
  18. lapband4meNOW

    Sweet Spot?

That is good info! Do you feel deprived at all when you are that tight? Do you feel hungry? Or is it so tight that it feels like you just ate a huge meal and couldn't eat another bite?

    Is this normal?

I was banded 2/8. I have not been filled yet. I am able to gulp down water with no problem. I can eat pretty much anything except rice. Just a lot smaller portion than I used to. I am waiting to get filled in a couple weeks. Would do it now, but got a two week business trip and don't want to be away from the doc if I end up too tight. Ya, I feel right now, I can eat anything without a problem. So, you are not alone in that!

    time spent in hospital,on what?

I was in one night. I had a catheter inserted while in surgery and oxygen was in most of the first day. I was not allowed anything to drink the day of surgery until the next morning when they x-ray'd me. They waited until the next day because swelling can increase overnight and they wanted to make sure I was able to get Fluid through. You can read my entire hospital post in one of my past posts.

    Liquid Diet Questions

Ask your doctor. I was allowed cream based soups and full liquids after surgery. No clear liquids needed after surgery. Every doctor is different.

    Considering Banding

I was unsure about getting banding and then I decided to. If you read my early posts after surgery, you will see how I wanted it out the first couple of nights I had it. I had a reality check about my relationship with food. I thought I really knew why I was fat. It wasn't until I was banded the truth hit me right in the face and I realized it was way more than I ever imagined. So far, I have not had my first fill. I want the right fill. I do not want to be a bandster that purposely keeps their band too tight (which is often where a lot of the problems can come from). But as of right now, I still have head hunger and I still WANT food and I still think about it a lot. The band has not changed this. I am also still physically hungry, probably because I don't have the fill yet which I plan to get after my business trip. I think you should continue your research and go for it! It is a great tool which I intend to maximize. In one of my previous posts I wrote out my surgery experience. So you can check that out too. Hope that helps!

    SO supportive.

Heck..if I did it on my own without the band, I better get FULL CREDIT! LOL.... Seriously, tell your mom exactly how that made you feel! Let her know you don't appreciate that she isn't being supportive. I say, being direct in situations like this is best. Put her on the spot and let her know exactly what you think of what she did. That is the only way to TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO TREAT YOU!

I think i need another fill??

That is a hard call. I haven't got my first fill yet but my doc said NO PB'n. He said that if you are doing that a lot you are too tight. I would call your doctor and ask him about it.
