  2. Happy 35th Birthday Roxysmom!

  3. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary Roxysmom!

  4. I was banded on October 29th and I've only lost 13 pounds. I can eat anything and I'm always hungry. I'll admit I've not done a great job of measuring out every meal but I have cut back significantly from what I could eat before. But I'm still very hungry. I had one fill a week ago of 3.5cc's. My doctor won't give me another one until early January. I'm worried I'm messing this up.

How am I doing so far?

Thank you everyone for the encouragement! Sometimes I feel I've made a few bad choices and I get worried but in the grand scheme of things I'm happy with my progress. I can't believe you lost 27lbs so far! That is awesome. I also recently had a baby and when I was banded I had lost all my baby weight. So I think my body had reached it's "max" weight loss presurgery so I guess that has slowed me down a little. My "bad" item I still have to have is McDonalds milshakes. I just can't not drink them!
  6. I was banded on 10.29.09. Since then I've lost 15lbs. I get my first fill this Thursday December 3rd. I am doing well but lately I've been so hungry I've found myself eating more especially on the weekends when we go out more or are with family. I am eating less than I was before and I make myself leave the table hungry but it's HARD! I am worried I might be stretching my stomach but sicne I'm still at a slow weight loss I'm assuming I'm not. Also I've given up so many things I used to eat before that I know I'm making life changes during this journey. I was a 2-3 soda's a day drinker and tons of sweets. I've had NO pop and passed on Desserts. I never touched one piece of the Halloween Candy sitting on my table. I am anticipating more weight loss after my restriction and I hope I'm right. As well as being less hungry. I have not started working out yet because my doctor does not want me to lift weights until December 15th. I joined my gym at work and on Monday I go for my orientation and to start using the treadmills and other walking devices. Does my progress sound "normal" to everyone? Thanks!
  7. I was banded October 29th and I feel great. I am in the mushie stage and I'm doing well sticking to Soups, mashed potatoes, eggs, cottage cheese, ect. I had my two week check up and my doctor told me to stick with 1/2 cup a food per meal or I could stretch out my band. She said I will feel hungry until my first fill but trust them It will get better. I do well except I went out to eat the other night and I have a dinner for work on Tuesday. I don't want to sit there and measure our my meal in public so I take an educated guess. However what if I do eat to much? How would I know that it's streched? Also as a side note has anyone had a milkshake or a smoothie while in the early stages? Just wondering?
  8. I only told a few people ahead of time because I wanted to make sure I actually did have it and everything went okay. Mostly my immediate family and co-workers who see me everyday. Now I'll tell people if they ask. I am not embrassed by it and I'm proud of my choice. Maybe telling others will inspire someone to do the same. I hear people say, "I just cut out soda, or I snack less" and they are thin. I tried other peoples diet options and would not work and I'd get mad. I'd rather be honest about it.
  9. My biggest issue is with meal portion. I am not a snacker but I eat to much when I do eat. I knew this "restriction" is what I needed. I chose to do this surgery because I could not do this on my own. I was banded 10.29 and I feel great. I am getting a little bored with my food options but I know this time period is short and eventually I'll be eating solid foods again. I love reading this forum because it has kept me going! So far I've lost 12 pounds! When I was deciding to do this I knew I could not alter my body like gastric bypass does. Also I wanted to make sure if my son wants to go out to McDonalds after a soccer game in the future mom can come with him. I have three friends who have done this and other than chewing slowly, having smaller portions and not drinking during meals they eat everything I do. It's not a cure all because you still have to change things in your life but in order to get great results you will have to be willing to do this. It's a great tool as long as you use it right. Good luck!
  10. I was banded on 10/29/09 and I've been very good with the liquid diet. I am having trouble getting my water in and I am working on that. However I tried mashed potatoes tonight and I had no problems. My doctor says I should do two weeks of liquids but I wonder if that's normal? I've heard it's different for everyone.

OH MY GOSH i'm so sore!

I am one week today and I just finally feel good. I had the pain in my shoulders so bad I was in tears. I ended up sleeping with a heating pad and that seemed to help. Overall I still feel "weak" compared to how I normally am but it does get better!
