Hello everyone!I would like to share my story and get any feedback from those who have had a VBG revised to a RNY.I had a VBG in March of 2003.  I was 280 pounds at the time.  I seemed to be doing well (or so I thought.)  I am down 100 pounds and holding steady which is ok.  After my VBG I had a lot of issues with belching while I ate anything.  I figured that was just something that happened and that I would have to deal with it.  I would be throwing up around once a week.  Again, I figured that I had ate too quickly or had not chewed well enough. On Sept 19th of this year, I began having major problems.  I could not keep any solid food down.  I could keep some liquids down as long as I drank extremely slow.  I was belching so much trying to keep the liquids down that it became painful.  I went in to see my surgeon, and he did an Endoscopy.  Low and behold, there was a pill stuck in my stomach.  The same pills that had been small enough to be taking for the last 6 years.  Confusing??  Yes!  After he removed the pill, I felt like myself again.  Until 2 days later...I was having the same symptoms.  Back to the Doc I go...this time there is no pill.  My doctor told me that my ring was closing up, and that the band was inflamed.  I was told that I need a revision to the RNY.  My surgeon told me that complications with the VBG are common, and they do not perform that procedure anymore.  I had no idea that so many out there are having a hard time with this.  I go in for the revision this Friday the 9th.  I haven't had a chance to talk to my surgeon much about what the revision entails.  Are they going to completely take apart the VBG and do the RNY?  I don't know much about the limitations that come with the RNY versus the VBG.  My surgeon did say that I might even gain weight back with the switch.  Really?  If anyone has been through this and can tell me what I can expect, I would really appreciate it.  I'm nervous to say the least.  Thank you so much!!
