Hello all and congrats to the prego banders! I too am pregnant - about 6 weeks now. I went yesterday and had all the saline taken out of my band. My doctor (surgeon not OB) insisted. He said it is the right thing to do. He said I should come back after I have the baby and have finished breast feeding. I'm really nervous since this is the first time in over 2 years that I have absolutely no restriction. Wish me luck that I can keep a little control. I welcome any sugggestions.

I had my surgery in South Florida. My new doctor (the one I got when I moved north), says that soda will erode your band. :faint: I had never heard that before. I think it's a ploy to keep us off the soda. Have any of you ever heard that? How could soda get to the band when it's on the outside of your stomach?

I was banded a year and a half ago now. I have always had mild pain around my port - mostly after I eat and especially if I eat too much :hungry: . It seems that it is the worst if I'm up moving around. If I sit down it gets better usually but not always. Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm certinally not a doctor, but I have the same problem. In fact, I have several friends with the band and we all do. I asked my doctor about it and he explained to me that it is probably more about the time of day than the day itself. If you pay attention, you will probably notice that yo are more restricted in the morning than at night. I certinally don't want to tell you to eat late at night because we all know that isn't good, but you should be able to eat more the later it is in the day. Hope this helps.

I don't know about the feeling in your throat, but I have port pain usually after I eat - especially if I eat too much. I had my surgery in Jan of 05. I went to have a fill yesterday and my doc thinks that I have a kink in my tube. I dont' think that has anything to do with the port pain though, I have had port pain as long as I can remember and I have had fills before. The kink is new. Good luck with your band but I'd ask the doc about the throat thing.

I went for a fill today. When my doctor went empty my band (to see how much was in it), he couldn't get anything to come out. He said that he thinks I have a kink. He said fixing it is a simple procedure. He would go back in the insision where my port is, unkink the tube and put in a new port. I guess it is just a one day thing. Anyway, I came on tonight to read about other people's experiences with this, but every one I can find had a leak. Has anyone had just a kink - no leak? What did the doctor do for you? Is it possible that the kink will work itself out? So many questions...........can't wait to get answers!!!!!!!!!!!!! Banded 1/2005

I guess "under flouro" is when you drink the barium and they watch to see how tight your band is. The doctor that put my band in does it that way, but I moved and the doctor here does them "blind". Therfore, we don't have any proof that it is a kink, that is just his opinion for now. The insurance that I have now, he doesn't accept. I am getting different insurance Sept 1 that he accepts. We will see what we are going to do then. Thank you for the reply. I hope they keep coming!
