Looking for those who started with BMI 35 or less
happy2lose replied to homewith2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe there is a thread about low BMI'ers somewhere on this site. You may have to search for it for a while but I'm sure it is informative. -
Back to work - first night back - had to go home :(
happy2lose replied to jessicakolman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really don't know anything about the single incision part of the surgery but I recommend keeping an ice pack on your belly button in the hours before work. Try 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off until you have to start work and see if perhaps it helps the swelling in that area go down. I would also stay on the tylenol every 4 hours to keep the pain cycle interrupted. Don't let the tylenol lapse. Hope you feel better. -
Meridia and the band.
happy2lose replied to desertmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are already fitted with a weight loss tool. I suggest you slowly start filling your band and work with it. There are no guarantees that getting the sleeve wont cause you to have heartburn. If you use your band you wont need to take diet drugs. -
getting cold feet
happy2lose replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Calm down, everything is going to be fine. The procedure only takes about 30 minutes and it is a relatively simple procedure. You are going to do fine and soon you will be wondering why you didn't do this sooner like the rest of us. -
I agree that you may need more protein. Also, vitamins are very important. Try adding Biotin and Vitamin D as well as taking a multi-vitamin and calcium.

Congratulations! You are now on your way to a leaner healthier you.

liquid diet while banded
happy2lose replied to esv2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A liquid diet is very hard to stick with especially around the holidays. It sounds like you really need to make an appointment and go over what you are eating with a good nutritionist who can then set up a eating plan you can live with and still lose weight. It sounds like you may not be using your tool (band) to it's full potential. -
It sounds like you could use a small fill. Be very careful though that you don't get over-filled as it is a miserable feeling.
-
All of my fills have been done under fluoro and I have been overfilled once already and had to return 2 weeks later to have some fill removed because the swelling would not go down. So, obviously I agree with Jachut on this.

I'm allowed alcohol but alcohol is too high in calories sadly.

something isn't right....
happy2lose replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you experience any ringing in the ears or loud grinding sound just before you fainted? When I passed out a couple of weeks ago from dehydration this is what happened to me. Either way, you should still get a doctor check up to be on the safe side. Doctor should check all your labs. -
Nobody should have to skip Christmas! Can't you still celebrate the holiday without gifts? This is what we do. We still decorate the house and enjoy each other's company. Plan a special day at home with your family doing family things like playing a game or something. As far as eating the pain away, did you realize what you were doing as you were doing it? I feel for you but you really need to find another way to deal with disappointment besides stuffing yourself. Change your focus and go for a walk or something. Have you considered telling the people you buy for that money is tight this year and you just don't have the money for gifts? Make little trinkets instead or do some baking and give it ALL away. Cheer up! This economy has to get better soon.

Lost: Two 50-pound bags of sand
happy2lose replied to rmbj0721's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! I'm very happy for you. You say you lost the weight without doing any "additional" exercise? Does this mean that you did exercise some? I'm just really curious because I have had to exercise my butt off to achieve the results I have. I don't really mind too much though because I seem to feel happier when I exercise. -
The lap band mind game!
happy2lose replied to givempills's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with 2flyguys about keeping the exercise going but I myself have taken a couple of short breaks that last a couple of days. What we really need to do is make a lifestyle change and I feel that daily exercise is a very necessary component to losing this weight and keeping it off. I find that I do still have days when I am lazy. On these days I push myself past it when I am able but if I have a headache or feel tired I do tend to procrastinate some but I do always return to daily exercise after a short break. My weight loss is very inconsistent. I can go weeks at the same weight then suddenly realize a 5 pound loss. It is so weird how our bodies take time to adjust. I love your term for the treadmill (hamster wheel). This is so cute. I could not do a treadmill. My attention span is much too short. -

Bridesmaid Dress Game
happy2lose replied to A-WENZ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this thread. It's really cute! I haven't fit into my wedding dress for almost 25 years. My goal is to fit into it by March for our 25th wedding anniversary. I thought it would be fun to try it on again. -
Congratulations! I'm sure you are very excited. Sure hope this time passes quickly for you.

Question about Damage from SOda?
happy2lose replied to itsalmosttime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, Been thinking some and realized I've been too opinionated here. My goal is really to help those who need it and I did get way too much of an attitude about this subject. As you all know I am very passionate and strive to follow the rules so my band isn't compromised. I wish you all the best and hope you all do well with your bands. Thanks to all of you for the reality check. Donna -

I couldn't agree more! I'm looking forward to eating a few bites of my favorites but feel quite confident I wont blow it. Thanks for always being so encouraging. Donna -
I'm so glad! I've returned to Mexicali for 3 fills and an unfill. Dr. Campos does the fills. I really like Dr. Aceves staff. They are always there to answer all of my questions and address my concerns. No regrets here!

help- restriction question
happy2lose replied to sewillia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Instructions on how much to eat varies from surgeon to surgeon. Ask yours how much you should be eating. Cathy is right though about comparing how much fill you have with others. Everyone is different and there are different sized bands in use as well. -
Sounds like maybe you are experience hunger pains. If it persists you should probably let your doctor know just in case.
