My story:  I have been over weight since I had my first child in 1978.  Like most people I have struggled with my weight for many years.  My weight problem only got worse after 2 more kids and a few miscarriages.  I have tried every diet out there and a few I came up with myself.  I would take off a few pounds here and there but always put more on when I gave up the diet.Back a few years ago I had a friend who had the lap band and was having some success with it.  I went to her doctor for his seminar and was a little taken back about his rudeness, arrogance.  He told the room full of people that if their insurance gave any hesitation that it would be our responsibility to get it approved not his.   I left feeling very disappointed and gave up. Then about a year later I went to another doctor.  I really liked him and was willing to work with him, but everyone he wanted me to go see and the support group he insisted I join, was over a hours drive one way and was going to take up several evenings out of the month.  This just wasn't going to happen, so I gave up again.  Finally last February I went to visit a friend and she and i told each other(at the same time) that we were thinking about having Lap band surgery.  She doesn't live close to me and we had to use two different doctors, but we are supporting each other.  I chose a doctor here in Houston and I love him.  His office staff is wonderful.  They have taken me under their wing and made to whole process so easy.  I have to say I really prayed about this and asked God to help me through this and to make this an easy process.  I am so lucky and happy that this whole thing went so smoothly. I just scheduled my surgery for November.  I have to work around my work schedule and I am taking the week off before Thanksgiving and the week of Thanksgiving.  I can't wait.  My friend had her surgery in June and is doing great.  I can't wait to join her.
