just testing my ticker is working

Hi everyone, just got back from Belgium yesterday (op was on Tuesday 17th) and could not wait to get on here and thank everyone for their support pre-op. I am obviously in a little pain which is much less than I was expecting at this stage. I feel on a real high that the op is behind me and the new slimmer me in front of me. Just wanted to say thanks again to you all, just hearing your experiences will continue to guide me in the future on this journey. I will continue to come on here, that reminds me that I must get a ticker. best wishes MiaBlue

I am being banded on 17th Nov in Brussels with DR Chris De Bruyne, anyone else out there?

Great to hear of all your succes stories, I am nervous as hell now as I am being banded on Tuesday 17th Nov. Keep having strange dreams and waking up in a cold sweat. Not dreaming about the operation though, keep dreaming all my teeth fall out for some reason and that I am being chased. Oh well the fear will all be over come Tuesday evening. I totally admire you all for the courage it takes to go ahead with the op. Have not told very many people so am having to keep a lid on my feelings, just want it to all be over. I will be thinking of all your wonderful words of wisdom and every thing I have read on here come Tuesday, you have all helped to inspire me to make this big decision and I thanks you for that. May not get a chance now to get back on here so will come back on post op. best wishes all. MiaBlue

Thanks for this, what an inspiration to people like me who are due for the op in a couple of weeks and getting quite nervous about it all. I have written a list of all the reasons why I need this and whenever I feel myself getting panicky I just read it, it helps to calm me. It is also good to hear how the band works for others as I am not expecting miracles immediately but know that it is a long term journey. Thanks again and good luck with the rest of your journey. Hi JB, what prep? you have me worried now. I have asked about a pre-op diet diet but have not been advised as yet. As soon as I hear anything I will let you know. How you feeling, excited, nervous? I am already struggling with sleeping now, I think it is both of the aforementioned things. I just keep trying to imagine my body in 1 years time and it makes me smile. Speak soon.

Hi all, I am due banding on the 17th November. Not sure who to get aftercare with as I have no idea what the average amount of fills people need on average and over what time span they need this, 12, 24 or 36 months? Would love to hear from those that have had it done for a while to try and guage an idea on what to expect, thanks all MiaBlue

Hi Sherrybabbe, yes I got the package deal through Frederick, 4070 with op, hotel and taxis, I am amazingly excited and nervous all at the same time, I may have to go to the gym to try to get rid of some of this nervouse energy. Hi all, so excited to say that I have booked my surgery, I am going through Frederick Dr Chris's assistant, I am booked in for the 17th of November and I cannot wait. Re the Insurance I found a company who will cover it, cost was just over £80 to go to Brussels on the 4 day trip, this covers travelling companion also. Commpany details are as follows Angelis - Travel Insurance for Cosmetic and Medical Sugery Abroad Hope this is helpful to any others who may be considering taking this step. I am hoping to have mine done in November. best wishes to all

I have just sent e-mail to Frederick to say that yes I would like to go ahead with the op, hopefully that will be in November. Did anyone take out insurance cover against anything going wrong, not sure if such a thing exists, but I would really like to cover all my bases?

Hi K Well done to you and your family, that is reassuring to know that having seen other members of your family have this done that it did not put you off. When you say you went to Dr Chris via Frederick, who is Frederick as at the moment I am comparing deals with costs etc. thanks

Hi all, I am seriously considering having this op, my husband has agreed after a lot of discussion. I am trying to look at the positive and negative of this surgery so that I am making a really educated decision. Went to my GP yesterday to discuss, he seemed to know very little about the subject, asked me what I would do if I needed urgent medical help after the surgery on return to the UK, I said I would go to hospital and he felt there may not be any doctors/surgeons who may be able to help me, it is a large teaching hospital so I find that hard to believe. I think he may just of been trying to put me off. Have just found this lapband talk today, I think it is going to be very helpful in making the decision.
