  1. What gummies do y'all use? I've virtually stopped taking my chewable vitamins because they make me sick. I can do the grape iron chewable, it's the orange flavored multi-vitamin that gags me. Just writing about it makes me feel sick. I'm 17 days post-op.
  2. I'm 15 days post-op and I've already stalled (I was sleeved on Oct. 13th). I lost about 13 pounds the first week post-op, and this second week I haven't lost an ounce. Not an ounce. I've heard of people stalling, but in Week 2? I'm about to blow my face off. I'd say I'm on about Day 8 of NO MOVEMENT ON THE scale. Logically, I know my body's been traumatized and needs time to adjust. But emotionally, I'm starting to feel like I might be the one person on the planet who took this drastic step and isn't going to lose any weight (though I know this isn't possible). I've always been a fast loser, so this kind of thing is alien to me. Ugh. I'm frustrated.

    Please Talk Me Down

Thanks, everybody. It really helps to hear what you all have to say. I'm going to put away my scale and relax because I know I'm tracking my intake and everything in that regard is on track. I'm also dealing with some post-op blues, so taking it easy and not putting so many demands on myself is another way I can break old, destructive habits. It's so great to be able to talk to all of you and learn from your experience.

    Bad Breath

This is happening to me, too. It's gross. And I think Patti's right about why it's happening.

    Please Talk Me Down

It's true, I've been weighing myself every day like an obsessive compulsive freak.

I was told don't lose to much

A friend of mine dropped a ton of weight through diet and exercise and looks incredible, but one of the other mothers at her kid's school asked her if she had cancer! People are a trip.

    Lower left - pain

Thanks, Jordan! I wish they told us to expect this stuff. Seems kind of retarded not to.
  8. Yesterday was my first day back at work (I work alone in a very low-stress office). I'm 13 days post-op and toward the end of my work day, my left side above my lower left portal/wound and under my boob, started feeling really tight and sore. Also, right above the lower left portal, I can feel a bit of a lump. When I got home from work, I took Ativan (muscle relaxer) and the discomfort/borderlne pain went away. I felt fine this morning. Now I'm back at work sitting at my desk, and the tightness has returned. I'm waiting for a call back from my doctor, but while I wait I need to vent. Anybody else had this experience? I don't have a fever, soft food and liquid are going down easily, I have no other symptoms, my left side's not hotter than my right, etc. But I'm getting a little freaked out.

    Discomfort on Left Side

Just talked to my surgeon's office. They said this is normal, that the stitching on the left side makes the hairiest wound, this pulling and discomfort and slight lumpy feeling is part of the normal healing process, and that I shouldn't freak out unless the area turns red and/or I start running a fever. I feel better about it now, but I'm going to watch it like a hawk.

Thanks, everybody. I'm feeling pretty good. Yesterday, though, I started feeling a pain (more like discomfort) on my left side above the bottom left portal wound. I think it's just deep muscle pulling/healing -- it's like something in there just woke up. I'm going to call my doctor about it today, though, because it's kind of freaking me out.

    Weird Dreams

Vivid dreaming can be a side effect of general anesthesia. GA stays in your system for a looooooong time. Also pain pills. All that stuff makes your brain trip out.

Thanks! Sorry I disappeared -- this experience has been INTENSE and I'm just now starting to feel human again. I'm exhausted, though, and need to nap a lot. The first four days were the worst, then from day 5 through about day 7, I transitioned from deep inner wound pain to outer itchy wound pain. I'm 12 days post-op already! And I'm very glad to be on the other side.

weigh8nomor ... OMG!!! 6 - 8 month wait at WLA? AAAAAHHHHHH!!! you just made me feel sooooooo much better about choosing to go with PB! the only thing PB has done that drove me crazy was taking five million years to call me about my surgery date. while i was waiting for them to call, i got several different versions of the PB timeline from various staff members, and i was starting to freak out. but now that they've called me with my surgery date, all is well. they pretty much scheduled me for the week i originally requested, so all my worrying was unnecessary. my consultation with my surgeon (dr. taller) was on august 23rd and my sleeve is scheduled on october 13th. that's a hell of a lot better than the wait at WLA. that said, the PB wait time is starting to get longer and longer. at my PB orientation in late july, they said the wait from consultation to surgery was about a month. now, it's about two months. they're being bombarded with kaiser patients because kaiser can't get its act together, so the faster you can get to a PB orientation and get your blood work to them, the better.

i got my date: october 13th.

i'm curious about how long the wait time is for west los angeles. have any of you heard anything? my experience with both kaiser and pacific bariatric is that i get a totally different story from every person i talk to with regard to how things work and the time line. it's extremely frustrating.

    Kaiser Southern California

i still think i'll get done before i would have with the other choice i was given (kaiser west los angeles). west LA's wait was at least five months several months ago, and i'm assuming it has only gotten worse. i just keep telling myself once this is over, it'll be OVER, and the interminable wait time will be a fading memory.

hells, yeah, i've spoken to them several times. on tuesday, i was told they're booked through october 15th, but they couldn't tell me where i am in line to be called. "as soon as possible" is all they'll say.

    Kaiser Southern California

my consultation went well, but it was on august 23rd and i still don't have a surgery date. pacific bariatric has been overwhelmed with kaiser patients and they've fallen behind. so, i'm waiting in line to be called to schedule my surgery. not happy.

I start my pre op diet tomorrow

ah, okay. that's not too bad. what would really suck is if they made us get below a bmi of 40 in order to have surgery.

I start my pre op diet tomorrow

    ah, i see. thanks!

I start my pre op diet tomorrow

hi everybody -- how long is the pre-surgery diet, typically? two weeks before surgery? longer?

    Kaiser Southern California

sleeve 4 me -- your surgery is coming up soon! very exciting! when you feel good, please tell us all about your experience. i wasn't even given harbor city as a choice. it was west LA or pacific bariatric. period.
