My nephew brought me one a few weeks ago. It says, "In God We Trust" on the edge, like someone suggested. So no reason for anyone to get their tights in a wad. Except perhaps for some of us older citizens - they need to make the fine print, MUCH LESS FINE!

Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?

I found it! I found it!! I just found my special purpose!!!! -
Way to go Donna! You've done your research and come up with a decision that is a perfect solution for you. Good job! Keep us posted. I hope that this forum has helped in some way... if for no other reason than you were able to talk openly about your concerns and options.

I'm pretty sure there are some fake boob jobs that aren't horribly obvious, but the ones that are so awful make you want to PB (so to speak). But I've never once heard a guy make a disparaging remark about a chick with fake ones. In fact, my DH has even said, "Oh those aren't fake, how can you tell they're fake?" And the clear outline of the implant is apparent, while the rest of her body is skin and bones. No wonder women can get the upper hand so easily sometimes. (pun intended) Am I the only one who has been grossed out more than once by Tori Spelling's?

Our ability to save the wounded means exactly what this article is saying and the impact on the wounded and their families, as well as society, is a horrendous legacy of the Bush administration. This war is about economics and greed. The greedy folks who support this war, who don't want to help anyone with tax money, could never equate the money spent in Iraq with helping anyone. They think that the weak and infirm should help themselves. Or at least beg for it in a private way instead of through any government programs. Says a lot about the kind of people they are, doesn't it?

I'm impressed too! It's great since he started this mess! :heh:

Cblancha9 and Butterflylover: I think you're the first two I've read about here who are as old as I am. I'm a little younger, but not so as anyone would notice, that's for sure! If your doctor has more experience with bypass, and he's seen good results, he probably is motivated to go with what he knows will work. Bypass has been around a lot longer and there are more doctors who have learned that procedure - many of them are just now embracing the lap band. There are a couple of reasons why I chose Lap Band and in fact, I would probably never have chosen bypass. The surgery itself (Lap Band) is usually less invasive although I've heard that there are some doctors who are attempting the bypass procedure with a laproscopic technique. The Lap Band is reversible. If you have a problem for any reason, it can be adjusted or removed. Not true with bypass. It is a permanent fix and the complications can be worse. With the Lap Band, the expectation is to lose gradually over a period of 2 years. This is a much more healthy way to take off pounds. Your body can go through the adjustments of your losses during the slower process without thinking that it is starving to death. I've seen so many bypass patients who have lost tons of weight but then regain a lot of it. With Lap Band patients, I have noticed that they initially lose a good chunk and then the loss slows but the loss continues. What most of us are wanting to do is not regain the weight. I suppose if they get the bypass just exactly perfect to your particular body, maybe you won't regain the weight, but I think part of the problem is having your body think it is starving and anxious to eat so that it can get all the nutrients and body fat that it's used to. I am sure there are more differences, but I'm no expert. You really have to make your own decision and listen to everything the experts tell you. Even after you learn about both procedures, you have to decide for yourself what is best for YOU. You're the one who has to go through the surgery, and you're the one who will have to do the work afterwards. Because no matter which approach you take, after the surgery the ball will be in your court to make sure that you take full advantage of the step you've taken to become healthy. I too wish I had been able to get the Lap Band years ago. But I know I still have some QUALITY time left here on earth and I want to not miss another minute feeling like an outsider who is ashamed to be seen in public. I want to stop worrying about food and start enjoying life! Stop worrying about getting diabetes, stop all the medications for High BP, high Cholesterol, crazy tryglicerides, etc. Best of luck to both of you! You're to be commended for taking steps to get yourself healthy! Keep us posted on your journey. I am sure this forum will be as big a help to you as it's been for me.

Greed, inspired by the devil in the guise of religion. The Bible tells us about them.
-
letheag: I would agree, except for the fact that they've read our Father's good book, supposedly are experts in interpreting the Bible, so I have to wonder about who really motivates them..... Since they become so rich and tell us that wealth is supposed to be a good thing, all I can come up with is GREED. Especially since so many of them are mean to their fellow humans in the process.

How do these people get away with being so extreme in the name of Christianity? Greed is a very ugly thing. They want power because of greed. And their followers keep pumping the coffers full every week and believing...

TOM: He should have nick-named his meatloaf "A touch of food Poisoning Meatloaf" Remember the story about Kentucky Fried Rat?

For the challenge: lost one lb. this week. One hour of exercise. My bad.
-
karey: Yes!! I definitely have felt like I've lost all I'm going to lose. It is so frustrating and disappointing, but then I realize how much more food I'm eating now than a few months ago. Back then I was still doing just the soups and cottage cheese and very low-cal stuff. Now I'm pretty much eating regular food, just in smaller quantities. And I'm not gaining and only losing less than a pound a week. More like about a half a lb. a week. At this rate, I could lose 25 lbs. in a year and that's nothing to sneeze at. But I agree, I'd like to lose at least 2 lbs. a week. That would be great. If you come up with something that works well for you, please let us know.

Tres' cool, lisa!

Whew! I sure don't want to go too overboard. My kids tell me I push the limits sometimes. Heck, girls just want to have fun. Right? I love to joke around and just get too carried away, especially when things get a little off-color. Glad you aren't writing me off as a bad person.

Sometimes I can get outa control - like TOM! Hope I didn't offend!!!

My daughter worked at a restaurant once (upscale) and I asked if this was an urban myth or if it really happened. She said that in her restaurant, the manager was in the kitchen much of the time and he would kill anyone who even thought about doing something like that. But I'm sure it is absolutely true for some restaurants. Who wants to take a chance on something like this?

And don't forget your protein! ooops.

Lap Dancer: Several years ago I had some plastic surgery in Orlando. When my doctor found out that it wasn't a procedure covered by my insurance, he cut the bill in half! I was in shock for a while over that one! So it can happen in the states too, but probably not as often. U.S. docs have to pay so much malpractice insurance, plus staffing their offices and all that entails, there just isn't as much to play with as in some other countries. I wonder if you could call the U.S. doctor and tell them your delimma and ask if there is ever a case where he does some cutting and snipping of costs.

Just remember the bandster alert: Go very slowly. No getting stuck when you.... eat.:faint:

I made the mistake of sending a steak back once. Never again! Mr. Carlene obviously has learned this lesson.

Wheet: here's a little operating tip for you. Always keep some sugar-free jello in there with the whipping cream. You can declare that it is on the Adkins diet - s/f jello topped with a little whipped cream. (You can always figure out a real appropriate place for the jello. *Burrrr*) :heh:

I noticed nothing on that list that mentions anything negative that Bush has done in the way of environmental issues, yet his record speaks for itself. In fact, he and his boys have all declared global warming not to be happening and have dismissed the scientific community on that subject as just plain wrong. For some reason, Republicans have decided that this is simply an Al Gore political issue. I can't verify everything on the Bush list, but we know that much of it is true since we have experienced it first hand. It is of the pubic record, whereas much of what was on Ron's list are accusations and half-truths. Clinton's military record is non-existent, but the good things that he accomplished during his presidency are not. Most of the things on Carlene's list can be verified and besides we've all witnessed them. The things that Bush has accomplished while in office are all too obvious.

I'm so forgetful I can't remember the name of the book. It wouldn't surprise me if TOM knows the one I'm talking about. I want to say "The Story of O" but that might not be it. It was popular in the early 70s I think.
