I have never had good nails. I didn't have to cut my toe nails ever. My finger nails would split off constantly and were so weak preband. Now they are awesome! Docs have told me it's the protein. My hair is growing like a weed too. There is hope I will not lose any of my hair. It helps my keep focused on my protein intake.

Sorry I forgot to mention taxes government help etc that illegals can get but not pay into. I could go on but it's not good for my blood pressure..lol

This topic winds me up so much. My husband is from England. He is here legally. He was told to carry his card showing his status at all times. Now I realize that he is white so you would think he wouldn't be profiled so this doesn't affect him. However, he was pulled over for speeding. The cop noticed his accent and he was required to show his card. If your here legally it's not a problem. Show proof and move on. No different than showing a drivers license. If your driving legally it won't bother you. This politically correct crap is getting out of control!!! There are laws for a reason. Follow them!!!!

Opinions wanted! What's the best iPhone app for food journaling?

myfitnesspal.com is awesome! -
I have this issue and have researched it and spoke with my GP about it. It is very common. I drank before my lap band surgery but do more so now. My GP referred me to a therapist to help me deal with cross addictions and I do hope it will help. I have found that it was worse in the first few months after surgery. Maybe withdrawal from using food as a crutch.

viv...thanks for you response There are a lot of bandsters at that practice and are very firm with fills. I can see the barium stop. They have taken their time and showed me everything and I do understand why they don't want to fill me tighter. I just don't understand why other doc's will. If that make any sense. They have explained to me that if I have small meals then I will not be so hungry in between. When I got the band I was told 3 meals. And now they have realized 5-6 small meals is better. I am going to try what they say for the next month. Then who knows?!
-
I went to the doc and no fill. He said I am restricted. He sees that I am having refux although I don't feel it. He suggested I have 5-6 small meals a day. That is suppost to keep me from being so hungry. I've lost 2 lbs by their scales and he thinks that is GREAT! I dont

Yes 1-2 lbs is what he said before surgery and I pay a copay if I get a fill or if there is flouro....the dr. is the best in the area and is why i chose him...but I am really getting frustrated! I get a whole spill about the damage it can do if it is too tight...but I see on here how so many people are way tighter. I have no refux, I dont pb or slim unless I have a temp lapse in memory and forget to chew.

I have an appt yet again today, i only have 4.5 cc's in a 10cc band. My dr keeps telling me no to fills. Last time was under flouro and he said it looks great I have enough restriction and at 1.5 avg pounds a month I am loosing enough. Problem is I can eat way more than I should be able to. Every pound is such a struggle. So now another month has past and I have only lost 1 pound! Today is under flouro again. I'm do down I could cry. I do most things right, protein, exercise. I am loosing faith in my self, doctors and the surgery it's self. Someone please tell my why they won't give me a fill like everyone else seems to be getting?

Everything about my experience with him and his staff has been awesome. Angelica helped with the paper work, Lisa with my postop, Dr. Enoch is the best surgeon ever. I can't say enough about Brett for fills! I really don't know who I am happiest about!

Is anyone else GAINING weight before banding?
mushsbat replied to mimi1512's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through the last supper thing too. I gained 20 pounds. I thought I had to eat everything for the last time. WRONG, don't do it. Several reasons. Your liver will be too large and he may postpone. It's not your last supper. You can have things in moderation later. It's not like you'll never get to eat certain foods again. You just have to learn a new way of handling them. The worst part for me was, I went for a preop visit with my gp and was weighed. At my postop visit 2 months later I had lost 22 pounds so I was happy with surgery. However in her eyes I hadn't lost any weight. I got questions..lol! It was kinda depressing and made me realize I could be smaller right now  -
I will try those suggestions for the powder thanks! I am right at 3 months postop. I do have a family history of high bp. I went to the dr. for a post op check up and had a cold at the time. She thought it was the dayquil making it so high. I quit taking it like she said and have been checking it at cvs. Everytime it is still high and actually a little higher. She wanted a follow up in a month.

What are your thoughts on hunting?
mushsbat replied to jessress87's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
can we add crows and canadian geese to the list..crows are evil and the geese are just mean! :smile2: -
Yep you actually dance and the game is awesome. It has old and new songs. It teaches you the dances and the good part is it doesn't kick you out or anything if you don't get the moves just right. It's just fun!

Had to do Stomach Crunches During Fill?!
mushsbat replied to gwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to lay down with a pillow under my back and tighten my stomach for him to find my port then I was able to relax while he did the fill. No numbing meds for me though. I didn't need it he was in and done before I knew it. I've had an unfil and another slight fill and both were also done the same way. Good luck! I also think you'll get used to it, and they will learn how to find it better each time.
