I posted this on someone else's post. After rereading it I realized I had my own issues and maybe I needed my own thread. I feel like a failure. My long story as short as I can. I was banded 12/09 I received fills very slowly due to a hernia just above the band which I was told they would fix during surgery. They did not and then couldn't give me fills very fast due to reflux which I never felt but the could see under fluro. Most of my weight loss has been just after fills. Which is 45 pounds in just over a year. I have I think 5.25 ccs and I'm not sure how much it holds b/c I've always been told that does not matter restriction does. At my last fill I received .25 ccs and was told that would probably be all that I would get for a long time. After the fill which has been over a month I feel less restriction than I did before. This does confuse me. Anyway, I can only eat mushies for Breakfast. I eat high Protein. Usually egg and cottage cheese warmed. I know all the rules and follow them. I can eat a healthy lunch. By supper time I am starving. I can usually eat 1 1/2 -2 cups of food. I always eat high protein low carb! I have been slack with exercise in the last month. I am now back on the treadmill doing 20 minutes and will build back up. So why am I a slow looser? I was up to a walk/jog for 30 mins with this same eating pattern before and still not loosing. I can't get satisfied at night. I can't eat solids in the morning and can't eat really dense meat so I know I have restriction. Plus the doctor shows me I do under fluro. Like the previous poster said I am trying to focus on eating pure protein every 2-3 hours and working out. Hopefully something will start working for me soon b/c I feel like a total failure lately

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Live in Johnston Work in Wake
mushsbat replied to babygrl1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I live in Franklinton, would love a buddy. I was banded Dec 09 40 lb loss. I would love to compare notes. -
YES I have been so frustrated. I have a hernia just above the band. When I had surgery they were suppose to fix it but decided it wasn't bad enough to. Since every time I go for a fill under flouro they tell me no fill do to reflux. I had 3 cc's at time of surgery and first fill was 1.5. I have lost 32 lbs. All due to dieting, white knuckling, exercising IMHO. I struggle everyday and sometimes have wanted to say f it. I really hope this helps. I got .5 today. He tried to do 1 cc then went down to 3/4. He did try. I don't want to push it and have problems but dang it. I've dieted for years. I had the band for a reason.

I finally got my second fill. I'm so happy! I hope this help with the wl. I've been stalled no matter what I've tried. Just had to share with people who really know my excitement!

I never thought I drank too much until Lap Band. After quitting the alcohol before and after surgery, I found myself needing it. I can't seem to make it two days without drinking. I went through so much to have this surgery and don't want to blow it by wasting calories on alcohol. I lost 15 pounds the first week and haven't lost any since so I know this is affecting my weight loss. It has been 4 weeks since my surgery. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if there are any suggestions.

Confused about eating and calories
mushsbat replied to shelley1057's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was first banded I was told 3 meals but now my surgeon is recommending 4-6 small meals. They say this is the new way of thinking for Lapband. It is hard at first and then you will be able to do it and need fills. Yes, Protein shakes will help a lot at first. Then you will progress to needing to get solid Proteins. Good luck! -
I have been told by my surgeon that I can't have any med's that are time released. He said they cause ulcers because they sit in the small pouch to long. Therefore, I will need a liquid form of metformin. So I called my GP and they called in a RX for me. Apparently the manufacture is backordered. What am I to do? Has anyone been through this or know what I should do. I have also wondered this about other meds. Things like cold/sinuse meds are also time released. Any help would be great on this

I am so embarrassed by all my typos up there..lol After finding out what my dr had prescribed was on backorder I was told to check with different pharmacies and finally found a pharmacist who was familiar with Lapband and told me I could take one pill in the morning and one at night. Therefore eliminating the need for time release. Thanks for the input!

Blowing it out if proportion???

Me and my husband met in a chat room where we had no intentions of ever meeting someone. We were just there to talk about music. It took us 2 years to get together. We have now been married 4 years. We have a rule that there is no chatting what so ever! We know where it can lead. I do read comments and post my own. I need the support. I will not cross that line of chatting. I know where your husband is coming from. Make your rules together and stick to them. Don't make it an arguement, make it a compromise. He needs to see why you need to be on this forum, and that there is no need to personally chat with anyone. -
I agree with nortone completely...it's because they do it for the sole purpose of getting benefits.

awesome..i remember doing that so many times before and to think this time you will stay there...great job!!! -
Does the reflux stop you from getting fills...I have some restriction but i have been told i could get a fill if it wasn't for the reflux. Worst part is i am white knuckling it. Six months out with one fill and little weight loss. I was told presurgery I had a hernia but it wasn't enough to repair. Now it causes the reflux that keeps me from getting a fill. ERR! Should I be on med's to help with that?

We Need a spell checker for this forum

Funny post..I hate this exact thing but I know I constantly make typos...kinda like Hal's "I will leave this up for the rest of the day then I going to delete it." Should have been "I'm going to delete it" I get mad at myself for doing that kind of thing  I read back over my post and think dang it!! I know we all read enough on here to be able to read through typos. -
you're at 50 lbs! awesome! you're one of the one's i'm jealous of!..lol and with limited physical activity...wow! you are NOT a slow loser IMO.

I found a sticky note I made for myself dated May 3rd. Weight was 271. Today June 2nd. I weigh 264.5 So in one month I lost 6.5 lbs. Which is 1.63 a week. I guess it's not as bad as I thought. 1-2 is where my dr. wants me. I must have lost track with the up and down. I feel better now. I have always been able to drop weight so easily before so it gets hard when I see others droping faster whether it is with the band or not. I do try to remember it's a lifestyle change and try not to think of it as a diet. I know it's mean but when I get the snide remarks at work or the comparisons. I secretly can't wait for them to gain it back. b/c I know most WILL gain it back and in the end I will be a better me.
-
I was just wondering how everyone is doing? I haven't lost anymore weight. I play around with the same pound or two. Lose gain. I added in jogging as much as I can on my walk. I still can't get a fill due to reflux. I guess what frustrates me is not so much the over all amout of weight loss. It is that most of it came off right after surgery and after a fill. Any thoughts?

Just wanna talk about the daily stuff
mushsbat replied to KS_sxychoc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't regret getting the band. However, on a daily basis I feel like crap about my progress. Coworkers all around me have gone on diets, with pills working out etc. One has lost 50 pounds in 2 months, all more that me in shorter amounts of time. On here I see people that were banded when I was and have more restriction and have lost more. I follow the rules and work out. I can't get anymore of a fill b/c I have reflux. I know losing slower is better for me in the long run. I know all the logical explanations. But on a daily basis I still feel like crap about it. On a lighter note a had 3 nice long days off from work with hubby home too. This time of year he works 6 days a week. So it was nice! Thanks for a place to vent. -
go down to your local wic office, food stamp, clinic location and you don't have to show any papers. I agree with you just show your card. It looks just like a drivers license. No big deal if your legal.

Same here and I'm so tired of hearing I'm doing great. I see so many other people losing more and with much more restriction than me. I know I am not supposed to compare but how can I not? I do right. I follow the rules and yet it doesn't seem to be working as good for me as with others.
