Hello I have actually never been filled and I am approaching 7 months post-op. My hunger is completely manageable and I am still averaging somewhere around 3 lbs/week. So, whatever the surgeon put in when he first put in the band is what I have. Sorry...that probably doesn't help much I wish you the best of luck with your band!!!

Hello! I just got your question about how many times it took me to get to my sweet spot. I have never had a fill! It's crazy, but the doctor said that some people never need any fills.

Hey girl! My average loss per week started at about 4 lbs/week for the first 5 months. Now, I am averaging about 2-3 lbs/week. I have off weeks where I will only lose 1-2 lbs, at then there are some weeks where I will lose 5 lbs (those are my favorite!). I'm at 6 months now and it has slowed down...so I am going to kick up the intensity of working out to combat that

Hello! It took me 5 months post-op to hit 100 lbs. Of course the journey has its bumps and it can be both frustrating and wonderful at the same time. Always remember the good parts of what is happening when you are frustrated with the weight loss. In those 5 months there were weeks where my body just did not lose like I wanted it to...just keep setting little goals and you will get there with the work you put into it!

Hello! I do not have a blog...although that sounds like a great idea! I like to read Women's Health but really a good book that breaks down foods by calories, fat, fiber, and protein is the best thing to have. I try to only eat the foods that I need to get my body through the day in a healthy way. If I exercise, then I know that I need to eat even more protein. Of course, I have some "treats" like a small cup of frozen yogurt, but even that is a fairly healthy choice. I have tried to remove any emotions from eating. Every single day I need to challenge my brain and I need to keep reminding myself to make healthy choices. It is a full time job! The lap-band? really is a tool, you have to make it work from head to toes. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing!

Congratulations! Wow, a free lap-band, what an amazing life changing prize! Thank you for your support. I have been working really hard and I count every calorie that I eat. I eat around 900 calories a day. Zumba is so much fun and anyone at any level can enjoy it. I hope that you will be able to transform your life and most definitely your health so that you can live more comfortably and happily because you absolutely deserve it. Please keep in touch and let me know if you have any questions or could just use some support!

Us tall girls need to stick together! I actually think it is a different experience being obese or morbidly obese at 5'11" than at 5'2"! Thankfully clothes looked better on and we can pull off fashions that other girls can't

Hi Andrea! Thanks for the post. I do count calories, I eat around 900 a day. I work out 3-5 times a week...nothing outrageous. I stay on track by eating TCBY frozen yogurt as a treat now and then (in moderation of course!). It is actually a pretty good source of protein! I went into surgery with the attitude that not only was I going to be successful but I was going to be so successful that I could be used as advertisement for the lapband. I don't think that will actually come true, I just always believed in my success and continue to believe in it everyday. Everyday I still have to edit what I eat and tell myself to exercise. Best of luck to you and keep in touch!

Hello Linda! I eat around 900 calories a day. Usually egg whites and some other protein in the morning, turkey sandwich on light bread for lunch and usually chicken in some form for dinner. I work out 3-5 times a week doing cardio and some light resistance training. I also take the stairs everytime now! Please keep in contact and let me know if you have anymore questions. You should be proud of what you have achieved because you are already healthier. Take care!

Thank you! I hope everything goes wonderfully with your surgery. Stay positive! It is always difficult at first both physically and mentally, but trust me, it gets so much better. I am so excited for you to start Zumba! It is a blast and the most fun I have had working out. It helps the whole process of getting healthier and makes you feel happier! Keep me updated on how your surgery goes and please let me know if you need any encouragement or have any questions!

I am excited for you! I am humbled that I am an inspiration because I really just want to get to healthy weight. You will be amazed at how the world around will change when your body changes. The best advice that I can give is NEVER doubt your ability to succeed with the LAP-BAND?. Tell yourself you will succeed and this is not like anything else you have ever done to try to lose weight. Please keep in touch...anything at all! I will keep you updated too

Hi! I had some minor problems with gas pains after surgery. It would have been nice if I knew that it would happen! It is super uncomfortable, but it goes away. I think Gas-X the chewable kind work. Also, the pain meds will probably knock you out so you won't be that uncomfortable. I was able to walk a good distance 3 days post-op. Walking really helps the pain. I actually have gallstones so I will be going through that same pain this Thursday when I get my gall bladder removed. In the end, it is completely worth the couple days of discomfort!

Hey girl! It's good to see a fellow counselor! I am working on my Ph.D. in counseling educational psychology and will be licensed as a CPC. I come from an MFT program though. I'm excited for you! I started at about the same BMI as you did and I have been working hard to drop to a BMI of 35 now. I hope we keep in touch!
