  2. Happy 58th Birthday skinny2Bme!

  3. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary skinny2Bme!

  4. I'd advise you to go for the lapband. It is much safer. Nothing is rerouted or cut out of your body. It is adjustable for the rest of your life. I've known a couple of ladies that had the bypass and one gained the weight back and the other suffers from malnutrition. GO LAPBAND! I HAVE LOST 55 LBS SINCE MINE 6 MONTHS AGO AND I FEEL GREAT!

  5. Janice:

I had my surg in Sept. I did not feel any resrtiction until my 3rd fill. I lost each month, only because I made myself control my portions. After the 3rd fill, I started to fill some restriction, but not enough. I have had my 4th fill now and it seems to be right for me. I have only found a few things that I cannot eat. Soft white bread, shrimp, and Arby's roast beef. Other than that, I can eat just about anything in small quantities. I have lost 48 lbs thus far.

Hang in there one fill at a time!!!

  6. I researched both procedures, too. I decided on the lapband because of several things. With bypass, many patients get malnourished later due to the fact that the body does not have time to absorb nutrients. The lapband is quicker to heal, and the food still goes into the stomach where the body can absorb the nutrients and vitamins you need. Also, the lapband can also be adjusted for your personal preference. I had mine done in late Sept and I have never been happier. I know I feel better than I can ever remember. I have so much energy!! I'D ADVISE YOU TO GO FOR LAPBAND!!

    12/28/09: Christmas is over?

I enjoyed your blog about your Christmas events. When did you have your surgery? I'm only 3 mo into my lapband journey. I did pretty good this first Christmas. I still lost a few pounds, in spite of the few cookies and othr desserts I "sampled". .Are you LDS2 or does your username have another meaning?

    Thinking of having the surgery.

For tinkeringaround: I had the surgery done 3 mo ago. I have not had any problems. I would do it again for sure if needed. I have lost over 40lbs. The hardest part was the pre-op diet. After that, it gets easier. I did have a cold a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't eat anything for a day. Then I found that if I drank something warm (broth or apple cider) it cleared the mucus out of the opening so I could eat again. I'm still losing, in spite of the Holidays. I eat mostly what I want, just much less. I do not deprive myself. I do eat healthier than before, but I still ahve a bite of two of my favorites (after I have the healthy stuff). GO FOR IT AND STOP WORRYING!! It is worth it!

ate too fast... need help fast >?

I just had my surgery in Sept (3 months ago). I would guess that you just made the area a little sore. As long as you can gt liquids down and have no bleeding, I'd just wait and tell the Dr, on Wed. I sometimes get an irritated feeling when I forget to chew enough and the uncomfortable feeling goes away by the next day. Hang in there!! This too will pass...

    Self-pay question

I was just banded Sept 22. I have not had my first fill, yet. My insurance has a clause that they do not cover any procedures for obesity. To make sure my ins covered the labs, I had my family doctor order the lab work and then I sent a copy of the results to the bariatric doctor. If the ins knew that it was for a bariatric Dr, they would not have paid. Doing it this way, they paid for the lab work. However, I did pay for the psych evaluation. I did not want that on my insurance record.

    how much time off work?

I had my surg on Tues ad went back to work Fri. I sit at a computer most of the day. I have been going home (next door to my office) to take a 1 hr nap each afternoon to make it through the rest of the day for the following week.

    Shoulder Pain!!

I was banded last week and I had those dreadful shoulder pains for a few days. I found that putting a heating pad on my shoulder gave me lots of relief each time.
