I'd advise you to go for the lapband. It is much safer. Nothing is rerouted or cut out of your body. It is adjustable for the rest of your life. I've known a couple of ladies that had the bypass and one gained the weight back and the other suffers from malnutrition. GO LAPBAND! I HAVE LOST 55 LBS SINCE MINE 6 MONTHS AGO AND I FEEL GREAT!

Janice:
I had my surg in Sept. I did not feel any resrtiction until my 3rd fill. I lost each month, only because I made myself control my portions. After the 3rd fill, I started to fill some restriction, but not enough. I have had my 4th fill now and it seems to be right for me. I have only found a few things that I cannot eat. Soft white bread, shrimp, and Arby's roast beef. Other than that, I can eat just about anything in small quantities. I have lost 48 lbs thus far.
Hang in there one fill at a time!!!

I researched both procedures, too. I decided on the lapband because of several things. With bypass, many patients get malnourished later due to the fact that the body does not have time to absorb nutrients. The lapband is quicker to heal, and the food still goes into the stomach where the body can absorb the nutrients and vitamins you need. Also, the lapband can also be adjusted for your personal preference. I had mine done in late Sept and I have never been happier. I know I feel better than I can ever remember. I have so much energy!! I'D ADVISE YOU TO GO FOR LAPBAND!!
