    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hey y'all! Haven't been on in awhile. I've now lost 25 pounds and was banded on 10/25/06. I receive my 2nd fill on Wednesday (went from 1.8 to 2.8). Felt a little tight and even threw up the first time I ate. I feel much better now and think I am eating as much as I'm supposed to. You have to be extremely careful about eating too fast. I'm sliming quite a bit! But my clothes are soooo baggy! Yippee!!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hey everyone! I have my first fill tomorrow. Thank goodness, because I can pretty much eat what I want, though not like before. I had avocado soup and most of an enchilada for lunch today and wasn't stuffed! Uh-oh. We'll see how tomorrow goes. Wish me luck!

Hi Raynie - a good rule of thumb for drinks is - if it fizzes, don't drink it! No champagne either. I believe wine coolers and wine are fine, but beer is a big no no!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi everyone! Whew - it's after Thanksgiving! I made the whole dinner and my friend brought dessert, which I didn't have! I ate a little too fast and felt food get caught. I just sat there for a minute willing it to go down - that really hurts! My friends do not know I had the surgery. Has anyone been sick since they got the band? I had a stomach bug a couple days ago and was dry heaving all day. It was horrible! How do you know if your band has slipped? I don't feel any different. Hopefully, all is well. I go in for my fill next week. I am very excited!!!! Wish me luck! Julz

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi everyone! I am stepping on the scale every day and haven't lost a pound in 4 days. Bummer! Of course, I did go out to eat with a friend and had spinach/cheese enchiladas, along with a drink. Bad, bad, bad!!! I didn't eat very much, though. I don't have my fill until the week after Thanksgiving. I am hungry often though. I just try to eat soups. Let me know if there is something delicious and easy to take to work. Julz
  6. Hey everyone! I am having surgery on Wednesday. I am taking Thursday off but will return to work on Friday. Saturday is a big day for me (I'm in sales). I haven't told anyone at work what I am doing. Any advice for being prepared for work so early on?

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi everyone!! Got banded on the 25th and this is my 6th day. I am starting to get hungry. My tummy is growling. I've been drinking Slim Fast high protein shakes 2 - 3 x day and eating yogurt, pudding, broth, applesauce (only 3 x day). Any other suggestions? I am going to starve by the time I get my first fill. I still have another week before mushies! Thanks! Julz

Hi Jodi and Nanette, Thanks for the info - I'll walk a lot more today. Of course, the shoulder pain helps when I lie down, obviously. Nanette - they said before surgery you may have some shoulder pain due to not all of the air being released. It travels up. Just FYI. Otherwise, I would be freaking out by now. I also had a hernia repaired that I didn't know about. He said he did it complimentary since I am self pay! ha ha I would also like the egg drop soup recipe, please. Now, I am going to do my ticker scale. Wish me luck!

Hi everyone! Is anyone having issues with their shoulder in pain? I was almost in tears the other day. I am taking 4 Gas X per day and am walking quite a bit. Is there anything y'all recommend? Thanks!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hello everyone! It's Friday and I said I would be back to work - ha ha. I actually am taking today off. Trying to get up and walk around as much as possible to prepare myself for the big day tomorrow. I'll probably only work 8:30 - 3:30 tomorrow. I am a little sore around the left side of stitches, kind of like a side ache. It always feels like you're going to pull yourself apart when you get up, doesn't it? I am still not too hungry, but like one of you said, it was weird watching family eat and me not eating anything. I'll just take it easy for the event tomorow and not move around too much. I'll have my drink around to give me a little energy. Wish me luck!!!!
  15. Hey there! Had my surgery yesterday (yippee!) and am feeling sluggish, of course. I have shoulder pain (from excess air) but my lower back is bothering me so much since I've been lying down straight instead of fetal position. It's driving me crazy. I can't sleep well. Did anyone else go through this? What did you do to alleviate the crampiness? Thanks!
  16. Thanks for the advice. I just don't have vacation time and do not want my employer to know. It's kind of personal. I have a huge event this weekend too. I'm in sales - not any heavy lifting, just dealing with customers and advising them on what to purchase. I'm going to say I have the flu. Is that horrible or what?

Question!! When you transfer over to mushies, what exactly are you eating? Is it easy for when you travel? I travel a lot for work. Does it taste good? Are you still hungry? I'm going to drive people crazy. Now I'm reading on this board people are taking weeks off - I didn't tell work I'm having surgery. That's why I'm only taking 2 days off. Would love advice.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Okay y'all! I found how to create my own ticker scale (sorry, I'm new to this) but how do I paste it over here? I cut and paste the site but it just plugged it that information, not my ticker scale. Help!!! My surgery is tomorrow - a little nervous! Paying for it out of pocket - had to take out 401(k). Worth every penny, I'm sure!!
  19. I am having my surgery on 10/25 and am nervous. Haven't done very well on pre-op diet due to traveling for work and nerves! I plan on going back to work 2 days later. Need reassurance. Oh, I am a cash pay - insurance wouldn't cover me. Bummer!

My surgery is on the 25th and I'll be back to work on the 27th. Wish me luck!
  21. Hi everyone! I am new to this site. I would like to have lapband; however, Aetna will not cover my surgery. Does anyone know of a GOOD surgeon in DFW area or anywhere else in Texas that is relatively reasonable? Do any of the doctors partially finance? I have about $8,000 to put down. Thanks for the info!
