I've been doing great. I was banded in Oct 2006. I did well to start and then when I figured out I could eat solid foods, I found ways to defeat my band and myself. I managed to gain back all of my weight plus 25 extra. I found myself in a deep dark hole. I was using drugs and drinking non-stop. I hated the band. I thought it did not work. I went through a nasty divorce. Got custody of the child. Life seemed unbearable at the time. I got myself clean from the drugs. Still drink a bit but not nearly as much. I feel that it's in control. My younger brother managed to loose over 100lbs with diet and exercise. He prompted me to get recommitted to the band. I went to see Kitty an FillManagementNW. She told my that I was lucky to still have the band after I had abused it so badly. Also, I should thank GOD that I'm still alive......... That's all it took. I've had a couple of fills and have lost 48.6lbs since January 10th. A group of us in Skagit county started a support group as well. I feel great! I'm looking forward to seeing the new me develop. I am currently doing WW post band. I love it!! I like the E-tools function in terms of tracking both food and activity. I love being weighed once a week. I like hearing the victories and challenges of other members. I've been able to use it as a quasi support group that meets once a week. I pulled the instructor aside the very first meeting and explained to her that I have had the band done. She said that some there people like it and others do not. That's fine with me. I have never brought it up in a meeting for discussion. I also said that rapid weight loss can be expected and please don't single me out. WE have an understanding:cool2: I need all the help I can get. I got banded at 397 lost over 60 lbs gained back 85 and am nearly back to pre-surgery weight again. I have been a poster child of WHAT NOT TO DO with this tool. I feel as though GOD has been keeping his hand on me. I had abused my band, pouch, and body to the point that my fill doc said it normally would have failed. Thanking God and on the right path with no questions!!! Tim

I was banded back in Oct'06. I have learned every trick to eat around it and not use the band correctly. I had figured that I was a lost cause. I did not have the right set of mental tools to live with the band. I still feel that I don't. I had the wrong adjustment with no restriction. I was a poster child for band failure. Still am. I gained all my pre-surgery weight back plus 34lbs. I got fed up. I joined weight watchers because I knew that that worked. I felt as if the band didn't. It's all about the mind tape that plays in your head telling you things like "your hungry, You can eat that, just throw it up and keep eating, and even your not worth it" I have now had an epifinany!! Through weight watchers I discovered that the reason the band did not work is because I did not work it. I've found a renewed commitment to the bandster life style. I had a fill last Saturday under fluoroscopy. I have 7.8cc in a 11cc VG band. I feel like I finally have the restriction I've needed. Weight Watchers will help me be accountable. Diet or not. I am looking at it as another tool in the weight loss arsenal. Tim Saxton

I called the Dr. Aceves' office and asked about the powder IsoPure. They said it is not a problem What they did not want is a gritty, thick and heavy liquid. The IsoPure mixed up very smooth. There was no grit at all. It did not taste too bad either. I was also worried that the Gatorade I got was not clear either. Again it was not a problem. Much relief. I cant believe that I feel this good on only 300 to 400 calories a day. Tim

Greetings all, Just got back home last night from a surgery with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, MX. Things went very good. My question is I am supposed to be on Clear liquids, but when I mixed up my first Isopure 0 carb mix it's not clear. Is it a flavor thing or??? I got strawberries and cream and vannila. Is this a problem? I had some of the bottled stuff before surgery and it was clear. I'm a little worried that I am out 85 bucks for nothing. Tim:help:

I am back from my surgery with Dr. Aceves in Mexicalli. I could not have asked for anything better. Top notch care. First class hospital. Great staff. What a wonderful experience!!

Howdy All, I am scheduled to have the band done with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali on October 4th. I am very nervous. I have to stop drinking beer this week and begin the pre-op diet today. On a positive note, I bought some new clothes yesterday knowing that it will be the last time I'll ever see that size. Tonight I am taking my family (me, my mom, and 9 year old daughter) out to the last buffet. Good thing it's all you can eat steak too:clap2:

I live right here in Mount Vernon, WA. I am planning on having Dr. Aceves do my band. I'm planning on having it done either the first or second week of October 2006. I was going to have Dr. Fox do it, but, it is just too expensive. The only thing I need to do is find a close follow up doctor. The 2 things that really put above the rest are as follows: 1. He keeps you in the hospital 2 days instead of one or even discharging you the same day. 2. He does an xray and swallow thing to see how the resriction is. Also, this confirms how the band and port placement are. Thanks Tim

Greetings All, I live in Mt. Vernon. I have not had the band done yet. I am planning on making my appointment with Dr. Aceves late next week. I am about 405lbs 6' right now. I'll find out for sure tommorow as I have a Dr. appointment. I am interested in the who all does the fills around here. I was going to use Dr. Fox but he is a long ways away and fairly spendy. Any input is usefull. Tim Saxton
