I truly believe there is a plan and purpose for your child. You have a very tough decision, but having an abortion is not going to make the fact that you were ever pregnant go away. When I was 19, I did choose abortion and it haunts me every day of my life. It is the one of the biggest regrets in my life and I will never get over what I did. I have, however, thanks to God's grace learned to live with it, but the road has been so hard. Adoption is a very, very courageous decision. There are so many families that would love your child. Adoption is not like it use to be. There are open adoptions and you are in the driver's seat. You are in control of how you would want your adoption to go. I don't know where you are, but in VA, there is also an agency that will keep your baby for 3 months until you decide what to do. PLEASE don't discount making a good life plan for your baby. And Please don't make a rushed decision. There is no easy answer. But, God will make a way for you. If you need me, let me know. I run a pregnancy center. Two positives probably don't lie. The fact is that the pregnancy hormone has been detected! Congratulations. This is a case of life interrupted, but wow-what a joy it is. If you are having trouble dealing, I do work with women facing unplanned pregnancies and would be happy to give you a listening ear. This is a blessing and a miracle! Linda

I have the appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday. (Dr. Elizabeth Salzberg, Norfolk, VA.) Most of the posts here are by people who have 100 pounds or more to lose. I have 60-65 pounds to lose and was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat. When I tell people I am considering the surgery, they say that I don't look like I weigh enough to get it. Is it worth it? Linda

Really glad to hear from you all. Makes me feel somewhat better. I hope I have sleep apnea. Isn't that crazy? I can't self-pay. I guess I could, but since we've been paying 13,000 for health insurance for years, these folks can pay out! I have anthem b/c. Anyone else have this insurance and what was your experience with it? I called them myself and they said there was no waiting period and I needed a doctor's authorization. Sounded easy, but I am sure there is a lot more involved. Was hoping to get banded the 2nd week of Dec., but may be Jan. I want all the input I can get! Thanks. Linda

Thanks so much for responding and your encouragement. I went to my dr this a.m. On the way up to her office, a woman in the elevator noticed by "weight loss surgery" info folder they had given me. She said, "oh, you are on a weightloss plan?" I told her I was getting the surgery. She then said, "You? For what? You are not that big! They are going to let YOU have it?" I told her that I hoped so and to "please not say that". I weighed in at 208 this a.m. That was with a little help from extra clothes,etc. To be honest, I have actually put on like 12 pounds to get to a qualifiying BMI w/ morbidities. Then the doctor, who is fabulous tells me that unless they can determine that I have sleep apnea, that I don't qualify. I have never thought that I had sleep apnea, so I am a little discouraged. Did you have trouble qualifying? I have to gain another 25 pounds to have a 40 BMI. I don't want to do that. Kind of crazy, you know? Thanks. LINDA

I don't have answers to your questions, but I do want to tell you that I am happy to see someone else who got banded at around 200 lbs. I am trying to make it to 205 to get banded. (I'm 5' 4") with some other conditions. (sleep apnea?) I want to look 60-65 pounds too. I see the surgeon on Tues. I wish you the best. Linda

Hi there. I have the seminar tomorrow with Bon Secure Health Center. I don't think I spelled the second word correctly. I have not chosen a doctor yet, but am thinking about Dr. Spencer from his reviews. I have heard good things about Dr. Fontana as well. We have a $2,500 deductible and the group I am going to be working with doesn't charge the program fee. They do have good reviews and I have checked out all doctors with the VA Medical Board. I have to gain 5 more pounds to qualify at the 35.1 bmi plus other factors. Please tell me about your experience thus far. Linda Virginia's Eastern Shore

Hi there. I am headed to the WLS seminar tomorrow in Virginia Beach VA. I already know I need to gain like 5 more pounds to qualify at a 35 BMI. I just don't like that fact as eating to gain weight is very ironic. Anyone else in VA? Linda
