Perth Lap Band Surgeons - advice / recommendations

DaniRae, Nice to hear from you and wishing you all the best with your op. I am sure it will be worth it. It is nearly one month since mine and i'm feeling really good and losing abou two kilos a week Regards K -
Megsy, I have not travelled since being banded on 17th Sept but have travelled a lot. I was driving across USA this time last year with my son. I have found that I have a limit of about 250ml of anything. I eat quite a lot of noodles which are low fat, low sugar etc etc and they seem to slide down and digest ok. I had one piece of bread and it nearly killed me (felt like it anyway) I imagine chinese food to be suitable providing you avoid lumpy solids and just stick to wet noodles etc. Good luck K

I cannot speak too highly of Tony Kiereth A decent non judgemental human being! K -
Hi GMP, I was done in Perth on 17th September at The Mount. I am going OK but finding the sameness of the diet a bit tedious even though I am noticably losing weight. Your loss is excellent!. I somehow escaped the pre op Optifast diet. Yes, from what I have read, they use a saline solution to hydraulically adjust the band. Regards K

Hello to all in the Forum I am a "newby" having been banded in Perth by Tony Keireth on 17th September. (A nice bloke and an excellent surgeon). Going OK so far and seem to have lost the pangs of hunger which is encouraging! Any members in the Albany area?? K

Hi Jacquie, I was done at The Mount as I had to spend a bit of time in intensive care (as a precaution) after the op and my surgon and anaesthesist were a bit worried (hence me to!!) as I am also a diabetic and had to have open surgery rather than laproscopy. The hospital was like a fivestar hotel but unfortunately I ended up with a staph infection that I am dealing with now. You sound very disciplined with your meals. As a diabetic I have to eat several times a day to keep my sugars OK. Regards K

Sal, Thanks for your post. I have just received a set of medical (accurate) scales I purchased to record my weight. Today is day 13 and I have lost just over three kg. From what I have read that is OK. I did not have the "clear fluid" period and have been eating small quantities of food through the blender (veggies and a bit of well cooked chicken all mushed etc) Blended spag boll sounds good. Have you felt less hungry?? Really missing a slice of bread with a bit of butter!! All the best K

Hi, Thanks for response, I was begining to think there was no one out there. I am not sure when I see Tony, but I am lucky in that he visits Albany quite often. Early next month I think. I am feeling better by the day. How are you going and what are you eating?? Wher did you have your OP?? K

Hi, I had my op on 17th September in Perth. Was in hospital for three days as had to have open surgery due to older operations. Was done by Tony Kierath who I cannot speak too highly of. Thinga seem to be going well and I am yet to weigh myself as the medical scales I purchased on reccomendation dont arrive until next week. I live in Albany in the southwest of WA Keith
