Banded in 2003...time for it to GO
Tantus Feeldoe replied to ggeorgiagirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's a fact that the band just does NOT work for everyone. It happens for a lot of reasons....bad surgeon, the wrong choice of surgeries.....could be a lot of things. But if you have had it in there since '03, and have done everything you can, well, it might be that it just wasn't right for you. Just make sure you have done all you can to make it work, and then move on..... -
Band removed due to trauma, reBand or RNY?
Tantus Feeldoe replied to JillN1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry you had to go through all of that.If the surgeons are suggesting the bypass, then consider it. If you were unable to control the Diabetes while having the band, then a GB might be your best bet.People on this board like to bash the GB, for a variety of reasons, but it is a proven procedure and has helped hundreds of thousands of people over the last 50 years. It is true that you may have sustained damage that would prevent you from having another band, and that is a shame, if it was working for you. But give some serious consideration to the GB....it might be your only option, and for most people who have it, it is a very good one. -
People have the WRONG idea about the Bypass. It's a time-proven, effective procedure that is safe and it works very, very well if the patient is committed to making the life-changes required. A lot of people bad-mouth the Bypass, but i have discovered that they do not know what they are talking about. So, Good for you, and I look forward to reading about your success!

You know, My Husband had a Bypass. And he is no more smelly than he used to be. Except when we have sex. Then he gets all sweaty and everything. You know, the juices and all? yes!and as far as the "sound of dumping and malabsorbtion". They don't really make any sounds, you know. Except for the sex thing, like I said. Then there are some sounds, baby!.I'm thinking about getting a band. But my hubby loves his bypass. So, I'm still trying to decide.

I'm done telling people about lap-band
Tantus Feeldoe replied to dragonflylover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I really don't mean to be picky, but I have spent a lot of time researching all of this, and it isn't even 10X. The "complications" or however you want to spin them aren't that much different in quantity from the LaPband. Its a more extensive surgery, but it does in fact a have a place. no one should rule it out. or any of the other surgeries, really. Terry Banded April 2009 -

I hope this is how the quote thingy works...I'm sorry if I screw this up forgive me in advance!! ok...100X safer? i dont think so. I know people who have all of the various surgeries, and we've talked about it at length. I almost had the bypass and Im beginning to wish I had. all of the different operations have their risks, but im quite certain that none of them are "100X" safer than any of the others. where did you find a number like that? im really curious. 2 years out and need to talk
Tantus Feeldoe replied to househuntress's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't had any luck, really, with my band either. I've had it for a few months, had one fill, and i just don't seem to be losing anything. I don't eat all that much. And I get lots of exercise. And I have a lot of sex, which i guess counts as exercise,..at least the way i do it anyway!!! Terry ______________________________________ Banded April 2009 -
