Just banded - Bad Back Pain
gonnabethin replied to Slate2633's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Per my experience that is normal. I had both of those the first two-three weeks. Some of it is postioning from surgery, the rest of it will be adjustment. It was MAJOR surgery to your stomach- yea I know its 'minor" tell those tissues that were cut, disturbed and manipulated. -
THANK YOU TELLY!!!!!! I appreciate hearing from you. Ive closely watched your journey.

Ok Im 4 months out now- took the biotin as preventative, my tsh is 1, get 60gm protein most days- My hair doesnt care!! It is falling out by handfulls daily!! Ive been using nioxin shampoo a week or so. Im not losing weight fast like everyone else- Im not sure what the actual cause is. There doesnt seem to be one identifiable factor- certainly NOT rapid weight loss as the cause in my case (18 # in 4 months). So I get to have mousey thin hair and be a fat ass!! How fair is that! :scared: Here's hoping something changes in the next few weeks- dropping 10-15 pounds or hair regrowth.

Im having trouble with eating. food sounds good or looks good in a magazine or recipe. I fix it then when it is time to eat- no interest. I might take two bites then Im done with it. Doesn't taste good, too hard to eat, not worth it... All this work for 2 bites?! Its not like any weight is falling off- in my fit day logging Im getting in 700-900 calories, going to the gym 3-4 days for 30 minutes . I see myself slowly falling into the I'd rather drink pattern. VERY FRUSTRATED. NORMAL?! Any Ideas would be appreciated!! Thank you-

Hysterectomy Jan. 30th, advice needed.
gonnabethin replied to cherylgrzeb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my hysterectomy prior to my band. I cant imagine that it would even be a problem. My hysterectomy was open. They incisions are MILES apart. The Hysterectomy incision is 12-14 inches across the lowest portion of the abdomen where your hips connect to your legs. Below any bikini line I WILL ever wear!! I would do BOTH again!!! Good Luck!! I was home in 48 hours and not as much pain as I expected. I went back to work the middle of the 3rd week. My office nurses did all the work of lifting and holding down my pedi patients but... If at all possible take at LEAST4-5 weeks off!!! -
As usual everyone was post holiday- not rembering my birthday. My family and I celebrated. Only friends: Amy and Rhonda remembered. My good friend Diane forgot me!! Now new years resolutions can start. Always have to wait until after my birthday cake!!

I can truly speak to the temporariness.... Im only 3 months out and food is NOT my friend. The pain it causes if I rush, dont chew well and the whole I cant do that in public- Its a hassle to eat! I now find that the amount, speed and glutinous habits of others amuse and nauseate me. Learn to play a musical instrument, learn to make clay or ceramics, paint, clean house, sew, read, making jewelry, knit blankets or clothes for your local neonatal icu- they need them, walking, get out and work in the yard (its amazing how many people you meet), volunteer for elderly or go hold babies in the nurseries, all the things I associated with my "older" relatives. Things that I now bet they did during the depression years since they did not have the abundance of food we now have. I USED to miss food- I enjoy getting out, actually smelling starbucks since I dont like coffee I have tried Chai latte and love it. I like to take a magazine and people watch, while drinking a bottle of Water or tea. You will loose your affection to food, maybe the relationship just changes.

We never get snow (Dallas)!! IF we do it melts the next 1-2days- It is rarely below 50 here until Feb!! We have one-two months of cold (below 50) if we are lucky. Its always easier to enjoy if you dont HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT!

Something we do to the naturally skinny biatches I think...........

shell- I mentioned to my surgeon this week I do fine or Im stuck in the first 4 bites. He wanted me to change up the order. Eat salad, veggie, meat and go around my plate taking bites in that order. He said that would help with getting the meat thru the band. Meat chewed is still tougher than salad and veggies chewed. He told me that for some bandsters eating only the protein doesnt work; for weight loss, for overall living with the band. Good Luck

LOVE them!! Fuzzy navel tastes like the old orange julius drink. The ones Ive had are true to taste.

Dont get your hopes up! Its a less than 1-2% complication occurance and NO they wont make a guarantee. The slippage is flet by my surgeon to be preventable based on what you eat and vomiting avoidance. There is no way to tell who will erode and who wont. Thats a great question to alienate your surgeon!! I would avoid it. Just ask what the rate is in his practice and how can you avoid being that statistic!!

What are you eating 1 year+ post-op?
gonnabethin replied to Zannie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think 10 pounds per month is FANTASTIC!! I would love to loose that fast! Remember the faster you loose the higher chance of gallbladder complications- I think your doing great. In fact you wouldnt qualify for those fills with my surgeon. If you are losing 1-2 pounds per week- no fill. -
Shell & valgal that makes several of us who are not losing as quickly as the others. I did not loose anything the last 6 weeks. Its ok we will start loosing I feel sure!! We just have to NOT compare to the ones who are loosing like gangbusters.

Just smile take the food and toss it. She will be gone soon enough.

I got a fill today. I had 1cc last fill and Dr. Hamn could only pull out 0.5cc today. He said that happens. He put 0.5cc in so my total is 1.5cc. I was so suprised, unhappy, embarrassed that I had not lost any weight!! His scale is 7-8 pounds heavier than my home scale- its relative to what you weigh on I guess. His scale said 198 shoes and clothes on, mine said 191-190 naked. Buckle down and work harder! Eat less and exercise more. I probably need to log calories and exercise on fit day!! He suggested eat veggie, salad, meat in that order. Go around the plate eating that way. Will make protein go down easier. chew chew chew!!
