Shrimp, crab, lobster and fish are my life savers. I CANNOT do PORK (loin, chops, pulled pork. ham is fine)! My surgeon says if you chew well enough anything will go- not pork!! I was not such a big shrimp and fish eater pre band- now I cant get enough!!

No bread- crackers if I HAVE to , no pasta or very limited. I am using the soy noodles that look like pasta. no rice. the swelling and pain are NOT WORTH IT!! I do not want to put my band at risk- I plan to die with it at the age of 90!!

It has been a year and 2.5 cc its not working for my daughter.
gonnabethin replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Playing Devils advocate here. It could be that you are expecting her to lose at the same rate as you did or at a rate other than what she is doing. Did you hear what you typed? 25# in a year loss NOT gain!! That is fantastic. You may in fact be putting nonverbalized pressure on her and she is stress eating and making comfort food choices when your not around. Whether you say anything or not the stress is there that you've lost and she has not lost at the same rate. You need to put your smiley face on and praise her for the work she has done- not the work still left to do. Your worry for her not losing could really be your guilt for your own success disguised as worry. People lose at different rates . That needs to be your standard reply. It is supportive and sends a positive message rather than the negative one of "i'm worried she is not losing - the band is not working for her" thats an incredibly powerful negative message. Sabatoge like. Crazy I know but step back and look again. Good luck to both of you. -
Do you miss eating like you used to?
gonnabethin replied to ATRAVOLTA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Food is not my friend anymore. I dislike eating with others around, I dont want to PB. The foods I miss arent good for me anyway. I still have eaten for emotion- that one is hard to break- just not the amount I used to. I actually forget to eat now!! What a thought!! -
I wish I had not told anyone!! I feel like those who know are wondering why its not coming off faster! I just keep telling myself 30 gone-

First Six Months of Lap Band: Average Weight Loss??
gonnabethin replied to bwaydiva's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is a question that ALOT depends on HOW MUCH you have to loose. After looking at all of the people who have dropped SO dramatically it seens as though the more you have to loose the quicker it comes off initally. May not be so just my observation looking into WHY IM NOT LOSING faster!! Ive only lost 30 and have 25-30 more to go. IT HAS BEEN SOOOOO SLOW!! It kinda was comforting that maybe my dietary habits werent as bad as my fat body reflects that they could be. Portion control was the biggest thing that this has helped me with. -
What are your "automated meals"?
gonnabethin replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like tofu mock egg salad, chicken and tuna salads with wheat thins or triscuits, or a soup since I dont want to PB at work. Breakfast is always some version of liquid low carb slimfast or low carb smoothie king strawberry, dinner is whatever I can get my family to eat of my offerings- I would prefer to eat lean cuisine turkey and green beans or something easy- but that doesnt always work. My snacks seem to default to a teaspoon full so really a tablespoon of peanut butter. -
Down 1.5# slow seems to be the ONLY way its gonna come off!! The good thing is people are not suspcious that I have a band!!
-
steady zero- going for a fill.
-
nothing up or down.
-
Damn- it no loss but on the positive- no gain. I was hoping that -2 was going to keep going for a while!

Yes- the trials are ongoing, but if you want it- the family practice and gyn in my area are giving the HPV vaccine IF you are older than the 9-26. THE ONLY reason 9-26yr of age was choosen was to "catch" a person PRIOR to any sexual exposure. ALL women (and men) are at risk if they are sexually active and not single partner. The guideline of 9-26 is just that a guideline- for presexually active females.
-
You can still have it you just have to pay for it. Ins will not cover. If you are in the risk group, single , sexually active or swinger you still need the vaccine. $150 X3doses. If you have already been exposed it just wasting money!

Banding fixed my reflux- I would do it again (get banded) just for the refux!!!! NOT one reflux episode since banding!!!
-
IT HURTS!! That is one of the FEW no no's from my surgeon. I think that it possible can stretch the pouch, increases reflux, but its the carbonation that causes increased pressure. If I allow it to go flat I can have it- diet of course!

FINALLY seeing some weight loss (186 TODAY). Not sure if it is low carb or change in thyroid meds. I'll take it either way!! minus 4 pounds in the last 2 weeks. Still feel like I have fairly good restriction. HAVE to eat slowly!!

4cc banders-what is your final fill amount?
gonnabethin replied to BigBZ's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is SOOOOO variable by the person. Mine is at 1.5cc and I have good restriction. You will find HUGE variances as no one is alike. What I perceive as restriction you may not even notice. In the postings Ive not noticed a common amount for restriction. Good Luck!! -
Its not an official no no. From experience eating chocolate slows the weight loss because it goes down sooooo easily!! It becomes an easy go to because it tastes good, goes down easily and is readily available. I eat it now ONLY on occassion

Stupid ? from a tech challenged bander!!!:)

Had worst ever PB!! six of us at resturant, Pork again! Ribs this time. emesis x4 over an hour at the resturant- 3 of those in the bushes at the front:eek: No one saw me/that i saw thankfully. Papaya enzyme saved me and a small glass of warm water once I got home. I now keep those tabs in my purse. I stayed liquid for 2 days. Tried edamame and raw cabbage salad today and a few bites of beef stew- NO! Stuck and PB at work! Alone thankfully. currently am waiting for my papaya enzyeme and warm tea to help- Im in misery! Im ready to give up eating!! Im under emense stress-(PR, daily with those people, recep gone and my schedule is a wreck 26-30perday.) I am going to have to learn to CHEW CHEW CHEW!! Possibly I need to learn to start with tea first then try eating.

Does anyone else hate Ticker Factory?!?!?!
gonnabethin replied to derbygirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
yes- you have to click on the ticker in your signature- above the active change area and it will take you to tickerfactory, just enter your password, make changes and click next at the bottom of the page on tickerfactory- your done!! Once you do it - it gets easier. I use the bb code- and preview your signature or you can copy the code of the actual ticker and cut and paste. -
