down 0.5 for me

You may not be eating enough solid protein. Increase solid intake wait one hour before drinking and drink a glass of water when you get crazy hungry. Is the crazy hungry head or stomach hunger? I get intense stomach hunger, growling and hiccups but thats NOT when I expereince the crazy hungry head hunger. Amazing I can turn off the growling and physical hunger but if the head hunger hits Im in trouble!! Havent beat that demon yet! Luckily my band keeps it in check. Good luck!

What weightloss rate is everyone loosing at?
gonnabethin replied to flabuless's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I cautiously enter this information since we all lose at different rates. The comparison can kill your momentum and make you think your not losing fast enough. I felt SOOO BAD reading how fast others are losing. I thought it was something I was doing wrong. I finally realized alot has to do with how much you have to loose. I am losing 2-3 pounds per month which, when I think back to my PRE-OP days the surgeon said 1-2 pound per week was as fast as he wanted. AND if Im losing in that guideline I dont need a fill. ALl the surgeons are different, but mine prefers slow and steady- good thing cause thats all Ive been able to do!! -
Weigh me in at 185 please.

vagus nerve with lapband surgery?
gonnabethin replied to bandedshopgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would love to have my vagus nerve cut. I had an uncle who fell off an oil rig and his was severed- he had to set an alarm to eat since he never got hungry. Something Ive NOT known!! My stomach growls out of hunger, some days I mentally hungry some days I forget I havent eaten. I also buy into the theory that the band dampens the message sent to the brain. -
Im not sure that its a negative. It depends on how deep it is. I have always been able to feel mine and now you can see it. My ribs catch on it and its really too lateral and too high. I bet in a few weeks he will be able to access it. IF not have it done under fluro as to not mess it up. All my fills are under fluro and so if need be he could scoot me over and find it that way without poking me so much. That seems normal to me- Ive always been able to feel mine, and now I can see it. My rib cage catches it on occassion. It is now uncomfortable for me to lay on to sleep since it hits my ribs. Ha who would have thought. I now search for low waisted pants since it is just above my natural bend/waist band.

Let me start my telling that my husband is by far the luckiest married man. We do have seperate finances from previous baggage- both married before. I pay for all the household expenses and Mtg since it was my house we choose to stay in after marrying. He pays for Insurance auto and health, animal expenses and all of our "play" money from eating out, movies, and shooting sports. And we USE it!! Stingy he is not. Luckily for me or him however you look at it- the checkstub I found while cleaning was a one time event. (bank verified) It had a bonus on it and was more than disclosed but Im ok with that - everyone likes to feel like they have extra. I was more upset that his retirement was not where we agreed on- and has been discussed. And hopefully fixed - that is a huge deal since his money is primarily earmarked for play. Luckily we only had to address the 401K increase and not "you lied about how much you make" Thank you for all the support I love this family!!!

Stomach/Churning question....confused
gonnabethin replied to hotpink_bubbles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The smaller the bite the better for me. If I try to swallow a solid protein that has NOT been chewed to mush I get stuck, slime and pb. I can swallow bigger bites of soft, non proteins like -beans. Its not worth the risk!! I dont want to lose my band to slippage. AND - The pain is too great. I would say the lady swallowing not so chewed food is not restricted. -
Ok I need help.... My endocrinologist put me on omacor for my cholesterol and TG. It is a VERY concentrated fish oil- YEP you guess right it tastes HORRIBLE. It comes in a VERY large capsule that I dont dare swallow. So Ive been cutting it open and TRYING not to taste too much of the FISHY nastiness!! I have chased it with a tasty liquid Vitamin that actually has helped some. ANY SUGGESTIONS? Thank you!!!!

Tuna/Mercury, The Real Scoop??
gonnabethin replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Go to oceansalive.org or gotmercury.org You need to eat the light tuna and limit Albacore. ALOT of fish including cod are high in mercury. Those two are great sites!! -
I'd like to know if anyone here has keloids...
gonnabethin replied to Paulax's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I have some keloids on my upperbody- EXCEPT where done by plastic surgery!! My hysterectomy scar did not keloid either. I think ALOT has to do with how it is closed, and if they know you have a history with keloid! I will curiously watch the responses you get! -
Count me in for July 4th 25#! I'll post in am with weight!

From Laura Dobsons Low carb section: I call this "focaccia" because it is baked in that style - flat on a sheet pan, and then cut up into whatever sized pieces you want. It works for toast, sandwiches, and other bready uses. It is "rough" in texture like heavy whole grain breads. Since it isn't made with wheat, it doesn't have the same kind of grain as wheat breads, but the carb in flax is almost all Fiber. Flax is very useful on a low carb diet, as well as being amazingly good for you. INGREDIENTS: 2 cups flax seed meal 1 Tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1-2 T sweetening power from artificial sweetener 5 beaten eggs 1/2 C Water 1/3 C oil PREPARATION: Preheat oven to 350 F. Prepare pan (a 10X15 pan with sides works best) with oiled parchment paper or a silicon mat. 1. Mix dry ingredients well - a whisk works well. 2. Add wet to dry, and combine well. zSB(3,3)Make sure there aren't obvious strings of egg white hanging out in the batter. 3. Let batter set for 2-3 minutes to thicken up some (leave it too long and it gets past the point where it's easy to spread.) 4. Pour batter onto pan. Because it's going to tend to mound in the middle, you'll get a more even thickness if you spread it away from the center somewhat, in roughly a rectangle an inch or two from the sides of the pan (you can go all the way to the edge, but it will be thinner). 5. Bake for about 20 minutes, until it springs back when you touch the top and/or is visibly browning even more than flax already is. 6. Cool and cut into whatever size slices you want. You don't need a sharp knife - I usually just cut it with a spatula. At 12 servings, each piece of bread has less than one gram of carbohydrate - .8 to be exact - plus 5 grams of fiber.

In my case there is no staying at the table- the sliming is so heavy I cant talk and breathing hurts. If im at that level of sliming its not going down!! I have always made it to the bathroom- although I have also had to use the bushes outside a resturant. Later laughing because IF people saw me they probably thought I had too much to drink. Sometimes getting up and walking helps, arms up helps to. Im not in the clear until the sliming and the pain stop!! The sliming is amazing ability of the body!! It is THICK spit and there is no disguising it so you might as well go away from the table. The harder you try to swallow it the more you make!! Blockage is blockage my slime wont even go down. Once I get that pain and block message from the stomach to the brain- I also get runny nose, sometimes even diarrhea! Go figure. The PB is dainty compared to full blown gastrointestinal vomiting. However it is coming up. The relief is INSTANT!! The longest slim I had was 30-40 minutes and the only thing that helped was papaya enzyme and warm Water. I was hoping to be like so many others that never had a pb- unfortunatedly I have several a week then none for several weeks and no relation to fills. ????

Possible to PB often, but feel like you have no restriction?
gonnabethin replied to Maurdan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm curiously waching the responses you get. I am in the same boat. I can eat 6 fried shrimp.- seems like too many to me. I think in my case the stuck feeling is from eating too fast!! Other areas on the board, people post they are eating 1/2c for some-1cup for others and some 1.5cups. Im not sure there is a 'right' answer. If dinner is served slowly (slow resturant one hour to get all pieces) I can eat my entire salad, all my Protein and most of my veggies. So I can relate to no restriction and certainly getting stuck!! Hopefully the elder bandsters will come to your aid!! -
Still holding steady at 186. My clothes fit differently but no huge weight loss. Maybe eating too much. (7 fried shrimp for lunch today) too may liquid calories from liquor at pharmaceutical dinners. FEAR getting too tight and losing band if I pb or have slippage. I am going in for fill 3-30. Dr. Hamn scared me by saying too may pokes into port can make it leak- so I need to go for fill by am afraid. No one at work suspicious of wt loss since it has been so slow!! Pork is still not a friendly food. Chicken has to be drenched in sauce to eat so I avoid it.
