Depending on the type skin cancer it is the removal isnt that bad. I had basal cell and they also used the layer and freeze method. It takes all day but In my opinion its better than leaving any trace behind. Depending on the size of the excision they will have a plastic surgeon do your closure- usually same or next day. Most of the time you do not need anything further than surgical removal. Here's praying its anything other than melanoma. Please keep us posted. And try no to worry - its there you cant control it so let it go for now. Read up and be prepared with your questions. Knowledge is power!

The Band is not working for my daughter???
gonnabethin replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I personally think she needs peer (whether age or LB) support outside of the family. You have and will always be the mother- authority type figure. Mothers are mothers not friends no matter how hard they try.(and should be in IMHO) She needs a support forum that you refrain from. Check the state boards and see when the face to face is or have her attend the support for upcoming banders and others at the surgeons office. Put her in the leader position not following you. Her weight loss is great on any measure. Just with the title of your thread you subconciously may be sending signals of dispproval to her. I dont think it is healthly for a mother and daughter to compete especially in weight loss. You have done a superb job in weight loss and this could create animosity. It hurts for your competetitor to pull so far ahead. This message was created with loving, experieced opinions and has no intended malice or judgements. -
I have had the same feelings. When I was approved I was giddy. Since 2 weeks or so has passed, Ive cruised this forum, now understand fully my responsibility to the band, my giddiness is gone and replaced with reserved calm. Im sure the week if surgery I'll be excited again!! I guess i naively expected everyone to be thrilled with their band, then this forum opened my eyes and mind to the enormous variance of experiences. If we stay committed to this endeavor I think we will be fine.

Surby - PLEASE post asap and let us know that you are ok!!:sick

What kind of warranty?- its not like they pay to replace a leaky band, tubing or port. The surgeon fee should be in the warranty. Getting a new band is useless without installation. I would rather void my warranty than have it replaced.

I am going for lapband as I do not qualify for RNY Ny dh had RNY and he has done GREAT. NO dumping NO anemia, NO limit on sugar- too bad it would help his diet if he did any of those!!
-
Consumer reports ranked Flintstones chewable as one of the most complete vitamin available. You could not pay me to take the liquids, they are NASTY!! My surgeon started me on one a day. My DH had RNY and has taken one per day for 4 yrs and is great!

my personal favorites are muscle milk carb concious any of them but esp choc milk and new whey protein the red one They are both at vitamin shoppe as well as most smoothie kings, bariatriceating.com as well as other places that sell supplements and protein drinks.

Zovirax also comes in liquid and it will shorten and lessen the duration of the shingles. I would not go home without it! You may also need pain medication. I would make a call tomorrow and get an RX for at least the zovirax. If the surgeon doesnt give it to you call your PCP. Considered cruel in our practice not to prescribe something to help lessen the course. Good Luck to you, you have my sympathy!!

If your a size 8 its pretty easy for them to improve your already great look. If your > size 18 I feel certain they too would be stressed to try to give a flat stomach appearance!! What does that say about the female body image that size 8 is not trim enough?! Im doomed for failure- no matter what size i acheive it wont be small enough for the ads. oh well..... I'll feel better !!

Vitamin shoppe has lots of choices as does bariatriceating.com. I have enjoyed new whey protein- looks like a test tube and Muscle milk carb concious. I find vitamin shoppe is cheaper they have free shipping from time to time Good luck as taste varies alot!

Thank you Mr. Alex for you patience, kindness and generosity!! I need this board for support!!! Experienced bandsters may need to walk away for a few days and the newbies will continue to chat & scan in the same naive manner we do daily! I am 2 weeks from banding and dont want the "grumpy old bandsters" to ruin this for all the new people! This board has been a Godsend!! Thank you for a forum that connects new people to information, knowledge, and comradery.
