"That amounts to about 30# of wasted resources, wasted Postal Employee time, wasted fuel on delivering something that produces a single digit response. And then to accept the pretense I'm saving "30-40-50%" on whatever junk they are promoting," yep! Thats the capitalist area of the world we live in. Good thing we have such a successful recycling program in our area!!!! Rather recycle than be a citizen in ANY 3rd world area. I give thanks everyday!! Sorry Jack- didn't intend to upset you!

Today was my band day!! Surgery and post op went very well. Had 3 IV attempts prior to the nurses deciding a smaller cath (20g instead of 18g) was better. I look incredibly beat up. Had that ouchie shot (lovanox) in the flank for thrombis protection. Had surgery at 0930, in room by 1100, and walked the hall by 1215!! Was able to get swallow study with THAT ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE GASTROGAFFIN done about 1430. was discharged about 1630 home by 1700.!! No real pain-but VERY sore on left side. One HUGE episode of nausea to the 'oh shit please dont vomit 'stage- laid down, wash cloth, fan and less clothes and it passed. Took 4mg of zofran and will take it again in am for prevention!! I really feel like I sat too long (visiting with friend who brought dinner for dh and broth for me). Although it may have been the liquid tylenol with 1oz water chaser. THICK stuff!! Gonna get fast melts tomorrow!! Have, but did not fill rx-i dont do well with nasty liquid. Got a 9.5cm, 4cc Inamed band. REALLY like Dr. Hamn- he was wonderful today pre-op!! He was friendly, funny and interactive!! That makes 3 times I saw him pre-op- kutia never saw Dr.J pre or post!!! I feel very fortunate!!! I now can get healthier, thinner and move on without the daily obsession of weight loss and doing more about it!!:clap2:

Yes lamamama, i had a surge of nausea. A cold wash cloth, fan, laying down and a few less clothes and i was fine. I had some zofran- per the nurse my dr. doesnt like antinausea meds- per the pt im not about to slip a band b/c of vomiting the first day!! Im tolerating sips, ice, & 2oz broth, popscicle etc every hour per my info sheet. I think I just was up & sat up too long! No stools at all- the gastrogaffin (horrific liquid styrofoam with a touch of skunk essence) is the cause of runny poop per the radiologist today!! Glad to be banded!!! momofmany hope you are well! Good luck for those who are scheduled tomorrow!!

Having my masses out and uterus out was the best thing Ive done so far. I got to keep my ovaries. I had a 10inch horizontal incision and was home in 48hrs and actually went back to work in 3wks- I would suggest staying off 4wks.! The pain was minimal!! The lack of menses is heavenly!! Good luck to you!!

So glad things went well. I like to see that its really not that bad. I have spoken to anesthesia this evening and Im scheduled for 0930 in the am!! I am ready- really no appetite and certainly no last meal- I dont want to create problems for tomorrow!! I have taken a moderate dose of simethicone and have some for tomorrow. As soon as I am awake I will be UP AND MOVING!!:clap2:

The Band VS Gastric Bypass...What made your decision??
gonnabethin replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ultimately the choice is yours! I was not candidate for RNY- My dh had RNY has had NO complications, NO dumping, Can eat anything he wants, could get by on sub lingual b12 he prefers the shot. In the event of starvation or huge complications his could be reversed since his stomach is still there just not his main route. YES it is a bigger surgery and Yes the recovery is longer but MOST people do fine. The surgeons prefer the bypass since lots of patients are non-compliant as is true in most of life. The bypass does not require the amount of dedication that the band does, it is more forgiving to weight gain for bad food choices because of the malabsorption. This is a lapband support board and most here will be in favor of lapband, if you go to obesityhelp.com most will be in support of bypass. WLS is a VERY PERSONAL decision not to be entered into lightly by anyone for any of the procedures! ALL have successors and people who do not succeed!! GOOD LUCK in what ever YOU decide and remember the decision is YOURS!! -
Yeah!! Glad everything went well!! Heal quickly best wishes for a speedy recovery!!

How will I keep my secret in this situation?
gonnabethin replied to sweetsue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you can do it! Everyone is so busy shoving food in ( as I have Watched preparing for mine) that they do not notice you are not eating. As for the lunch bunch order soup!! Women usually eat lighter infront of each other- and if they notice tell them you have had to drastically cut back at the threat of your doctor! Im not telling either and I AM going to pull this off- I may tell later and I wont lie "Drastically Cutting back" is not a lie. Or Im having to make some major lifestyle changes- thats the truth also!! Good Luck -
That is my surgeons only requirement for me- BUT had I been what he calls supersize bander 300+, I would have the preop liquid diet and wt loss requirement. So for that Im thankful Im just MO not superMO. Good Luck!

Help me i'm giving up on the band, 2 jobs, no time for exercise and bad eating. HELP!
gonnabethin replied to msheavensent's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like to use string cheese, and roll sandwich meat around them and even a lettuce leaf to use as the wrapper. Those cheese singles make a great on the go snack as do the yogurt. Its all about staying ahead of the game and being prepared- PLUS it is a TON cheaper than pulling thru the fast food. Prepackaged meals and frozen dinners are a better bad choice when fresh is not available and you will be glad you did it. Take 1 hour and shop and package for the week- Good Luck. You can do it!! -
I cant do the liquid- the smell gets me first then the iron taste. Yuck. Flintstone chewables for me. I even found a zinc wafer and a decent b12 this in efforts to minimize hair loss as described on another thread.
