At $1000 per month you wouldnt need much of a loan- It would be totally paid for in 14-15mos. As for the anxiety, mine went away when I knew this was the best decision for me & i had the date scheduled! Once you get scheduled or the loan in hand you will ge giddy!! AS for them coaching you- ask them to stop since it is only adding to the anxiety. Speaking of- interview the surgeon and start getting all of that out of the way. Go to free seminar, see if you have to do counseling, pre-op testing and get those things rolling. Good Luck and try to relax, anything you have such determination for will happen. Your parents may not realize you have been considering it for 1.5 yrs Print the thread why did you decide on the band- it has some great info on why people got it. Any other positives- print off for them. Hide the address so they dont sabotage on you!!

Its normal. My mother was TOTALLY unsupportive! To the point of I did not tell her I was having it done. That right was forfeited by being unsupportive. I was frantic, desperate, and consumed with finding a way to get a band!! My every waking hour was pining for the band- so I understand COMPLTELEY!! Is it an exclusion on your insurance? The process is complex and not quick so, as hard as it is try to take a deep breath and hang in there!! If you have to cash pay- cosider it like a car payment. Hopefully they wont use control to prevent you from attaining health. I would present it that way- calmly. You may not support my decision, but this is a necessary step to attain long term health

Does Anyone Follow the Weight Watcher's Program After Banding?
gonnabethin replied to Jill Klein- Auerbach's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Once Im back on solids, Im going back just for the structure and healthy habits. I agree with susan no "dieting" but for me this will have to be a new way of eating from now on. Its a relearning of how to eat. The occassional splurge is ok if it is planned then the regular routine is resumed. Its worth the $12 to me for the accountability. There is a GREAT page for those who dont want to go to the meetings Its DWLZ.com She has done all the work and posted it on the web!! -

WALK WALK WALK- I had mine 9/14, 9/15 I drve to the store to walk around, felt less sore, less bloated today. Today went to bath and body for $6 wallflowers, bed bath and beyond for pressure cooker, and got more jello. Jello with 1-2tbsp plain yougurt and 1 scoop of any whey- just like unjury is WONDERFUL!!! Very filling and satisfying!! Then a special treat DH and I went and had manicure & pedicures- it was the cure for post-op soreness!! Good luck to you and get out and it gets better quicker!!

Its no wonder obesity is such a problem!! I am 2days post op and while im resting I have flipped channels and EVERY OTHER commercial is for some unhealthy junk food!! Not one that shows someone eating healthy. no veggies no Protein all are processed junk! Luckily I have NO hunger so it is just amazing to me how many junk food commericals there are!!

Yep- this is like starting out with a virgin tummy and vessels. Im walking the good/clean side. I did not go thru the pain, $$, to throw it all away. It makes me sad to read the people who are eating fast food, drinking heavily and not conforming. My surgeon would have MY HEAD if I did not change my habits- There would be no fills and certainly no sympathy from him. I feel like im ahead of the game if I stay on the good side then Im in control of me.!! My tummy and nutrition restart was 9/14/06. :clap2: My and the surgeons short term goal is healing not necessarily wt loss- that will be a bonus. Just the change in habits from pre-post will result in a nice loss. IMHO there is an over focus on severly lowering calories ,carbs and proteins too soon post-op. This is when my body needs it the most per my surgeon. Healing cannot take place in a timely fashion if nutrients are inadequate. "There is plenty of time for wt loss- it did not happen overnight." Post op Im allowed 1200 cal 60-80gm protein, 20%fat. Cuts back after 6-8 weeks if that proves not to be a loss level. Certainly NOT MEANT to be preaching. Just the view that was taught to me in nutrition classes and WLS classes.

Yeah I start regular liquid today/this evening!!:puke:
-
New whey by IDS liquid protein is 3oz, 25protein, 0carb 0 fat pre op it was great, I need a few more days before I can do the consistency. If you stick it in the freezer for 30 min its like a snowcone! I got it because of the small volume and I limited right now.

Bettina- Muslce milk has a carb concious lean muscle formula It has 230cal in 11oz- 2 servings for me for the next 4weeks 11gm of fat 11carbs only 5 of those sugar 22gm protein no trans fats, no lactose, and 25% of vitamins and minerals So since this is two of my meals thats not so bad. Because of the fat it is more satisfaying. Im sure I wont be using it long term but for the short term hopefully it will do the trick. Its thin like milk, the thicker ones I cant do. Isopure is thin also, but I needed a different flavor.

Thank god for Papaya enzyme and aloe vera...and thanks Kathy, too!!

Jack have you tried Dreamfields pasta? It is coated in protein then fiber so it does not stimulate hunger. It actually has a lower glycemic index since the body gets to the fiber layer and ignores it. So the pasta layer never gets utilized. Interesting science behind it. Saw it on the science or discovery channel. The taste is far better than the whole wheat mess. Dont know who it will work with the band/stoma. Not as goey as regular pasta. -
You are in my thoughts and prayers!! It is SOO HARD! They become our children. They are defenseless, unconditional love, idolize your every move. Unfortunately we have had to say goodbye to several. The hardest thing is people not understanding the impact they make in your life. We have actually grieved both ways not getting another fur baby for 2 years and getting another within the month. It actually helps the sooner you are able to get another fur baby to love you. Sounds disrespectful but the getting another fur baby to take care of and help with the grief is the easier of the two ways to go. The distraction is welcomed. My condolences in which ever you choose. You will always have the memories and the 11 years of fun is worth the time of pain- although it doesnt feel like it today.

Sweetsue- D I T T O!! I share all of those fears!! My journey has begun-Good luck to you! Too late to turn back now- however I did question what have I done!! Once the soreness subsides I will be thrilled!! I think the stories here are skewed- Im hoping!! There are hundreds of lurkers that we dont hear from. All the people I know personally who have a band DO NOT have these horrors! They have all done well no problems. I asked the erosion rate is 3% and slippage is 2-3%. Slippage can be decreased by not vomiting per the surgeons and not overfilling. Regardless of the many opinions and risks-did this for me! I dont want diabetes, and other complications so it is time to get the weight off! Hang in there and Good Luck!!

Next week you will not need willpower! The soreness is a gentle reminder what I chose. After 4 weeks im sure I will be ready for a partial slice!! JUST eating the toppings off will be heavenly!! 'The muscle milk is good too, but it has 11 gm. of fat in one premixed drink container"- THANK GOODNESS that will be the only thing that helps my survival part of liquids!!

Symptoms include: _Abdominal cramps. _Severe, often bloody, diarrhea. _Kidney failure in the young, elderly or people with weak immune systems. If you have an E. coli infection: _You don't need to take antibiotics. _It will probably go away in five to 10 days. _Young children and the elderly could be hospitalized to treat kidney failure. Every year in the U.S.: _Approximately 73,000 people contract E. coli. _Approximately 61 people die from the infection. Ways to prevent contracting E. coli: _Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly. _Cook all ground beef and meat. _Drink only pasteurized milk and juice. _Don't swallow Water in lakes or public pools.
