Poll - Democrat or Republican?
gonnabethin replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am all for the honest hard working American who needs assistance getting that assistance.(although I think anything >5years needs looked at, these individuals who have collected assistance for 20yrs thats abuse and its not right.) I'd love to see it in an area where it is appreciated not expected, where it actually has graduates who then pay in to help the next person. The problem is that in the Dallas area the system is BROKEN!! So my view of the welfare system is skewed. Daily I encounter all the problems the welfare system has. Our county hospital is the largest in the nation under one roof and only second to LA county. We deliver18,000babies/yr of those 12,000 babies per year who are considered "anchor babies" (and no they are not all from Mexico.) These infants enable the family to get assistance unchecked. The military, fire fighters and other civil servants who make less than a "reasonable income" 30K do not qualify for the same benefits and that is wrong! We currently see a family from Macedonia. They have been in the US >10yrs. They go "home" twice a year, own 3 pizza resturants, drive mercedes, and own a hummer and they are on medicaid. That is wrong. That is abuse of the system. Reporting the abuse in this area falls on deaf ears, nothing gets done. Families of premature infants are awarded $400-600/mo assistance for medical bills in addition to medicaid for their premature infant. They recieve these payments until the infant is 1yr. IT is seen as a reward in the population who routinely collects and repeatedly has premature infants. I dont know what the answer is I just know its broken.!! There is a HUGE problem in this area with the Katrina relocatees. They have had 14 paid months to find jobs, arrange housing and repair their unfortunately shattered lives. The aid is ending and a disporportionate number of these individuals are still sitting and waiting for more assistance. They "had nothing when the hurricane hit and now they have more than they could imagine" and want even more. They loudly verbalize they will not get a job. This casts a negative light on them and the system. I realize that these individuals are the minority of the peple affected by the hurricane. Did I mention the crime rate increased 30% in my area? We have an entire section of Dallas who has been on welfare more than 20 years and the problem continues. These individuals know how to benefit from the system, and it is taught to the next generation. So actually my answer is I vote Independent. I vote for the individual who claims to be able to DO something to end this vicious cycle. Im disappointed alot!! I voted for Reagan and yes a democrat- ANN RICHARDS. I wish she could have gone on to the national level!! -

Forum: The Urology Forum Topic: Urology - General Subject: Nutritional Information My girlfriend was wondering what the nutritional content (fat, calories, protein, fiber, etc...) is for the semen of a typical ejaculation (for oral sex purposes). I am serious, she is concerned that it is too fatty to swallow or somehow bad for her. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear LT, I do not doubt the seriousness of your question however if your girlfriend does not want to swallow semen I suspect it is not only due to it’s nutritional content. The sexual practices of a couple must be mutually agreed upon by both parties and a sex therapist is better qualified to discuss those issues in detail. The normal ejaculate contains approximately 2.0 to 3.0 cc. Of that , 1.5 to 2.0 cc come from the seminal vesicles. 0.5cc from the prostate and 0.1 to 0.2 cc from Cowper’s gland. The majority of the fluid is protein. A very small amount is fructose ( sugar). The caloric content is low with almost no fat. This information is provided for general medical education purposes only. Please consult your physician for diagnostic and treatment options pertaining to your specific medical condition. HFHS M.D.-KR DAMN IT!! My DH countered with his version of nutritional facts. eeewwwww raw warm salty egg whites -

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
gonnabethin replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I AM ashamed of the liberalness of Bush!! I am conservative- Im not sure it falls cleanly into a party. I do not support the democrat bigger government, increase taxes so we can have more social programs, give out more money to sit on your ass theory. But I do believe in abortion for all purposes other than birth control, and the womans right to choose. Stop supporting illegal immigrants who do not pay into the system. In the end it really doesnt matter which party you vote for since the person you elect doesnt seem to listen to constituents they do what they damn well please. Ready for the flames since Im the miniority in this poll. -
I guess it could be thats an unusual location. I have had a couple of attacks and they have been higher, to the right and between my shoulder blades in the back. If it continues call your surgeon. Id call anyway since its monday it gives you all week to take care of.

I use the small plate, salad size, with small silverware. So far so good.

The carb concious is the way to go. It tastes like a milkshake. The milk chocolate is REALLY GOOD. Ive only had it premixed, but I understand the powder is just as good. Good Luck

That kind of reply needs addressed RIGHT THEN!! Do not allow her to overlook your accomplishments. Call her on her attitude/statement!! You pay her salary she is your employee. Until you and other patients stop allowing her abuse you she will continue. Your other choice is to pick another GP. She is a person and not one of a higher status. You are paying for her medical knowledge. My reply would have been yes it is 34 but 10 months ago is was in the 50's and while I acknowledge you would like it in the 20s it cannot happen overnight. Thats why I am here to get my referral for continued care from the surgeon who is assisting not judging me. Doctors are taught in medical school to distance themselves and seperate to a point of rude to the lay person. Sometimes it takes a patient to reground/ reteach the human-ness of medicine. You can also just very politely ask her- Tell me something, do you feel I have not done well? why are you so harsh with me? Sometimes just a patient taking time to ask her about the harshness helps soften. Chalk this one up to being caught off guard! I think you have done WONDERFUL!!! :clap2: :clap2: Next time go in armed and ready for her and make it a conversation two way dont allow her to do that to you!!

I was also calm until after I had my IV in and was waiting!! Realizing that hospitals were for sick people- why am i here. All will go great!!

High Protein Drink Suggestion - Tastes Great!
gonnabethin replied to Lisa99's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use it also. It is actually my favorite. I put into jello, pudding, soups, anything I want. IF you use if for hot you have to mix it cold first (with water etc) then stir it as a liquid into hot. IF you try to sprinkle it as a dry powder in something already hot it clumps. IT IS TASTELESS!! I will not buy anything else in the future. Im sold on it!! -
Hyopthyroidism....LapBand questions....
gonnabethin replied to slowkat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have Hashimotos (hypothyroidism). I did gain weight, however Ive yet to find an endocrinologist who sees a correlation. They do not buy into hypothyroid= fatness. I did not/will not tell mine I was getting banded. I will be excited to see her reaction to my weight loss. I dont know where I stand on the hypothyroid and weight since Ive met far more thin hypos than overweight hypos. So I think the band is a personal decision. It still comes down to calories in vs calories out. For me the band is/has been the correct decision.. I WAS eating too much. I lost weight on my endocrinologists 1200 calorie plan just didnt keep it off because I wasnt able to stick to it. Low carb is great if you can stick to it. The band will make me stick to it because bread is a no no! Good Luck on whatever you decide. -
What are you guys eating for protein?
gonnabethin replied to MariaR.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That depends where on this journey you are. If you are recently post op you cannot have solid Proteins so there is a huge dependence on Protein supplements. Volume and amount of protein are the biggest consideration. If you are further out then you eat protein first then veggies. Protein being chicken, fish, beef, pork, eggs, tofu, whatever your choice is. For me it has been and will be in my future easier for me with my morning time constraints to drink protein on my way out the door. -
Try bariatriceating.com they sell samples. nectar- fuzzy navel is good, they have several brands. You will find people either LOVE or LOATHE their supplements. Personally I do not like isopure. There are several on the market I do like but it is one of those things you have to do a trial on. My suggestion to you is not to buy too much of any one product. post op your mind and stomach do not agree. What tasted good to me pre-op doesnt sound or taste too good now that Im post op. One of the most important things post op is to NOT VOMIT. That takes some work if your trying to force yourself to drink protein that is yucky. Get some samples for post op if you can tolerate them you can always get more.

YEA Kutia!!!!! Great scale and NSV!!!!! See you sunday!!

Feel better soon!! It takes a couple of days!! REST!!!:clap2:
-
Depends on the surgeon!!! I was allowed 3 days clear only then thin liquids first week, thicker liquids the second week, including applesauce, yogurt, cottage cheese then I get to add mushies for the weeks 3-5. Tonight I stopped and got chicken and dumplings and put them in the food processor with chicken stock to make the consistency of applesauce. I have been ready for savory non sweet Protein sources. Ive had brocolli cheese, tomatoe basil, and potatoe with roast all blended to consistency of applesauce. sounds like a lot of high fat high carb but when you only get 3-4oz or so it doesnt add up that quick. The post op time is for healing. I will worry about weight loss later- however Ive not done bad their either. Thats why Im not stressing over the calories in such small portions. So.... I hope you have a surgeon similar to mine!! Good Luck
-
as long as you add the powder to cold things works well- mix in small amount of cold water then pour into hot has worked!! The puree is not that bad- or I really got hungry!!! Im not hungry enough for puree tuna yet so Ill wait a week or so for mushies.
