Hiatal Hernia ????????
corinne211 replied to Bell1138's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My advice... Take that $26K and go get it done in Mexico! It will be a 1/3 of the cost and then save that other money for fills and a tummy tuck. -
Hiatal Hernia ????????
corinne211 replied to Bell1138's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ok I had this as well but was lucky that I was covered by insurance for both. My surgeon told me that all they do is give you 2 extra stitches. That is it. They just pull down the hernia back where the part of your stomach or stoma needs to be and stitch it. thats it. Sooo, I seriously doubt its going to cost you an arm and a leg. Mine was soooo tiny and sliding that they almost decided to just leave it alone. lol. -
Ok you need to talk to your nutrionist and surgeon. The adult human body goes into starvation mode below 1000 cals. Your metabolism slows and you start eating away at muscles. That is not healthy or how to lose weight to keep off. So u are basically starving yourself then burning a lot of cals. Your body needs a basic number of cals to keep it going. Starvation mode redirects needed body fuctions to best optimize the little cals you are getting. I know it sounds crazy but you need to make better food choices and get in more calories to actually start losing again. From the daily diet you described it sounds like you are eating the wrong foods. Where is your protien?? You have starch in every meal. Potato & pringles?? That is not gonna give you nutrition nor keep you full. You need to eat protien 1st every meal, then veggies or fruit. Starchy carbs should be an after thought. Please talk to your support team and you will find you will lose if you change your diet. Good Luck. I am 14 days post op and have lost 8 lbs. My 2nd week I stayed between 11-1300 cals and I lost 2lbs. I am not even filled yet. You can DO IT!

I am thrilled! The 1st week I was down 6 lbs. 2nd week I lost 2. I am fully aware that most of the 6 lbs was prob Water, but I feel great! I am wondering if I even need a fill. It would just to make the hunger go away right? I personally dont want to lose more then 2 lbs a week. So the idea of more a week kinda scares me. I dont want a ton of loose skin.

help! I went on BC in Oct and have not had a period in several months. Technically since I have been in BC pills since 1999 I havent really ovulated since. Today I was hit with EXTREME cramps. OMG like WOW. I have seen a few posts here and there about a very heavy period after being banded. Is this your experience? I want to know what i am in for. I'm at work right now and my cramps feel worse then the post op gas pain. I wish I had my left over vics with me today. lol.

Yes I named my band about a week after I was banded. I named it SNOOKIE after the short little over tanned chic from The show JERSEY SHORE. lol. My band is little, loud and obnoxious and can take a hit. lol My Fiance asks me, so how is snookie behaving today? LOL -
I got them at my gorcery store. key Food. I have also seen them at Rite Aid. Ye sI was banded on 1/5 @ lenox hill hospital by dr. Mitch Roslin. Im 12 days post op and doing well.

pains after surgery
corinne211 replied to baseballmom5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG ME TOO! I had to get a tummy binder to help with the pain i have in the lower left ab area. It feels like somthing wants to fall out or somthing. I get it when walking, sitting, laying down. So basically no relief. It started hurting like 7 day post op. Tylonol doesnt help. -
My nutritionist told me to take 2 Tbs of extra virgin olive oil a day. Whether i just down it or put in in some food, it is an essential oil and doesnt give you the fish burps that Fish oil gives.

not to sure ....help please
corinne211 replied to toribug1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say when in doubt call your nutritionist or go to a support group meeting. I have mine on FB and email. LOL Well are you at least getting your 65 grams of protien a day? a cal range of 1200-1500 is ideal for weightloss for a smaller person. your nutritionist can give you a range approp for your BMI. -

Just banded with EXTREME nausea
corinne211 replied to Bree99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If warter is working for you perhaps you need a few more days of clears. That what my doc suggests. Stick with what works until u feel better. Go get some broth and sip. My doc said saltines can me used to help nausea, u just have to let them get mushy in your mouth. -

Gladware now has these TINY 1/2 cup portioned re-usable containers. Its like 8 for $3. they are PERFECT for bringing lunch and Breakfast to work and also having ready made portioned food to grab in the fridge. Last weekend I cooked are realized wow I have SOOOO much left overs now that i can't eat very much. I picked these up and scooped all my left overs and put half in a bin in the fridge and the other half in the freezer. All week on my way out the door I grabbed a breakfast and a lunch cup and thru in my purse. I ended up buying another 8 last night. lol. gonna start making my own pudding cups with added protien and Fiber. Screw those $5 SF/FF Pudding packs. lol -

Is anybody wearing a tummy band for support?
corinne211 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was talking to my sister who recently had a C-section and she asked me if I wanted to use one of her tummy binders for post op for paint support and gas reduction. I was like a what?? My doc never mentioned one. She said TRY IT! I did OMG I am 9 days post op and feel almost back to normal and I only wore it for a day and 1 night so far. =) WOW. I am not walking slow anymore, and hell there is a lil skip back in my step. I can tell you right now. Go to a pharmacy and buy a tummy binder. It makes you heal faster and helps with gas and overall pain. I got my surgery on a tues and was back at work on Monday. sleeping with my Binder makes me sleep like a baby. I no longer wake up because i accidentally tuned on my side and had instant pain. Last night I slept on my tummy and woek up happy! Best part is that it protect u from PORT PAIN. I can now where my jeans and real waisted pants to work. Thank god! GOOO GET ONE! =) -
Good luck on your surgery today! I had mine at Lenox Hill on 1/5. I am 9 days post op and down 6 lbs. =) If you wanna be band buddies let me know. I live in Astoria.
My advice. Ask your doc or go to a pharmacy supply store and get a abdominal binder. It makes SOOOOO much difference with your healing time and ability to be active after surgery, especially being a NYer. It def makes me less tender when I walk and commute to work via subway.
Take care,
Corinne

What do you wish someone had told you BEFORE your surgery?
corinne211 replied to Jennerator's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WTH?? How on earth did you get charged that much money? is your band made of gold? Did you have hernia repairs??? Is that US Dollars? No insurance company would approve that claim. Even the most expensive places cost like 11k. you can go to Mexico for 4500. That is rediculous! Are you sure they didnt quote you for brain or heart surgery? lol Its only a 30-45 min procedure. -

I wish my doc had told me to get a tummy binder. I was in so much pain my 1st week. My sister who had a C-section let me borrow her old one and MY GOD, i felt like gold. The compression reduced my pain, swelling and I was only on pain meds for about 5 days. I sleep with mine and go to work in it. I feel that i can be more active with it and fear less about hurting myself when i bend over or go up stairs, ect. Amazon.com: Abdominal Binder: Health & Personal Care -

Is anybody wearing a tummy band for support?
corinne211 replied to corinne211's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was having pretty bad lower abdominal pain for last couple of days. I ran out of pain meds and was waking in pain. I was afraid i pulled something or gave myself a hernia or something (lost of horros ran thru my head). But since wearing the binder it is better. I take it off and there is the pain again. Not sure what it is. Its about 9 inches to the left of my belly button. Feels like something is tore. -
Does anyone here use a Binder for support?
corinne211 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I picked one up today at a local pharmacy and i am wearing it right now. All i have to say is AAAAWWWWW! Just wrapping it around my abs has made all my belly pain, back pain and gas pain pretty much calm down. IT is so comfy I think i am going to where to bed.
