HOORAY! 27 days post op and 12lbs down. Can't wait until fill on Friday! =)
-
Hi. I was banded on 1/5/10 by Dr. Roslin. I didnt have much contact with Roslin on the surgury day and since then. Seems i am being passed on to other docs. Kind of annoying. Glad you went with Dr. Yatco. I saw him for my last surgical pre-op appt. He is a nice guy. Good Luck! I have some advice. Bring chapstick & throught losenges for after!!! lol. u wont be able to drink anything for about 30 hours. The chapstick helps and the losenges will make talking hurt less when you are out of surgery. The intabation tubes gave me a hoarse thought for like 3 days.

pains after surgery
corinne211 replied to baseballmom5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey I have the same thing and went to my DR. He said its NORMAL. You were burned... well cauterized. The bands path is up thru belly button area and then it gets dragged thru ur left side to reach your tummy. I am all healed on the outside... on the inside i am TENDER on my left side. My doc told me to buy an abdominal binder to wear when active, like going to work, walking ect. it works. AAlso taking a little liquid Children's Motrin to help with swelling/pain. He said I will basically hurt there for up to 2 months. -
2 Weeks Post-Op - Can I Excercise Yet?
corinne211 replied to gwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said it is the left side where the surgeon draggs the port upwards from the belly button to the stomach. They have to cut, cauterize, move muscles, ect so there is a longer period of healing. Adding more protien helps heal faster. I also went to the drugstore and got a abdominal binder and OMG it helps so much. I find when i walk around I engage my abs and suck my gut in. Its habit from trying to look skinnier I guess. I am having to FORCE myself to relax my gut when i walk to make the pain go away. I was told to where my binder until my fill to aid in the tissue repair on my left side. I was allowed to take liquid chidrens motrin 2x a day for a week when on my period and the pain was gone. Now I stopped the motrin and pain is BACK. Grrrr. -
2 Weeks Post-Op - Can I Excercise Yet?
corinne211 replied to gwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have to ask that question it means you have not had your 1st post op appt yet. You need doc clearence to be ok for exercise. I am 3 weeks post op. Had my appt a week ago. I am healing nicely and fast. My doc put me on 4 week post op foods, but said he doesnt want me excersing until after my 1st fill since i am still healing. I tried a little wii fit and have been regretting it for over a week now. I have a sharp pain in my lower left ab now, where I have NO incisions. My doc said it is the path the port took and it takes the longest to heal. =( I would just walk. I live in NYC and I feel you pain about the NE cold. -
Banded Today - Questions
corinne211 replied to Chele6378's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hiccups are prob just from the gas. Get used to the burps. it is normal. I have 3 tiny incisions. It was laproscopic. U have a large one?? Its called the LAPBAND because it is Laproscopic and minimally evasive. You will feel pretty bad for about a week while the gas works it way out of your system. Once you get to mushies and soft protiens you will feel a lot better. Keep up your protien and fluids. Also eat a lot of yogurt or kefir or take an accidophilus daily to counter the negative effects of the anti-biotics they gave you. also take come evening primrose oil as soon as you are able to swallow pills. It will help with you next menstral cycle. The Heprin and surgery makes your next one horrendous. I wish my doc warned me. -

I am post op week 3 and my doc already has me on week 4 foods. =) I would crock pot a LOT of boneless chicken breast with some Mrs. Dash and cook it until it was easy to shred with yuor fingers or just thro in a food processor. I would keep my pureed meat in fridge all week to make getting real food easy to make all week. I made a pureed BBq Chicken and added some canned green Beans for fibe and added Water to my BBQ sauce so it wasnt so sugary. I have made salsa chicken with cheese. I have made chicken salad, Teryaki chicken, Chicken and cheese scrambled eggs, enchilada chicken without the tortilla. -

corinne211 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Scars!?! Would you...
corinne211 replied to Cupcake1986's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Staples?? Why on earth? the Lap in LapBand stands for Laproscopic. U should have had little holes. I would have chosen a DIFFERENT surgeon! I'm 3 weeks post op and have 3 little 1/3 inch and a 1 inch in my belly button where the band was insterted. In 3 weeks all but a tiny one on the top of my tummy have healed completely and are barely noticeable. I use just plain ol neosporin. -
Well from my WW days I know that Alcohol slowed my loss because it makes you retain a lot of Water and is a gateway to food drug. I have 1 drink and I think.... wow those fries wont hurt me... I will just have 5. 33 later I and on my 2nd drink. LOL. So I am abstaining until my vacation in the spring so I can look HOT when I go home to CA to visit family.

food for thought... To all of you having the "Same Issues" Have you tried going to an AA meeting? I know nobody wants to use the label Alcoholic but if you are experiencing withdrawls and NEED it? Um... I think you need to get some kind of outside support for this. Didnt mean to offend.

Being converted to gastric bypass......
corinne211 replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
May I ask... Are you getting at least 65 grams of protien a day?? ur lunch should consist of mostly protien. Infact all meals. It doesnt sound like you are doing the proper eating for the band. Do you have a nutrionist? Also, I have talked to a few people who no matter what couldnt feel restriction. After almost a yr of pain and frustration and some Rebanding. it was found their bands were not even connected to the port, port leaked or in 2 instances the band was not even ATTACHED around the tummy. this was ALL found out either in their rebanding surgery or after they had a UPPER GI Series. food for thought. -
Sounds like your band may have slipped. CALL YOUR DOCTOR!

Odd thing happened last night
corinne211 replied to mominkansas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sleep with a wedge pillow. Seems to eliminate this problem for me. -
Hun count your blessings!!!!!!!!!!!! It will happen and it will happen HARD! I stopped my BC pills in late oct and didnt really have much of a period since. I had my Sugery on 1/5 and on monday was crippled with heavy flow and horrendous cramping. My doc said it is a side effect of the Heprin blood thinner they shoot you up with in the hospital. I'm telling you now. Get a heating pad and stock up on children's liquid motrin. You will need it. I cannot wait to get the A-ok to go back on the pill.

Hair Loss, Protein, Bioten etc...
corinne211 replied to Mickey527's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutrionist told me to add 2 Tbs of essential oils to my diet. That can be fish oil, oilve oil, 2 evening primrose oil caps, ect. Your body needs fat to operate. If you are not getting enough fat this can lead to hairloss as well. Even when i was on WW 2 servings of essential oils were on our to do list on a daily basis. I dont see why you cant add it to your regime. I take evening primorse oil because it ALSO regulates female hormones, which help with the Kamakazi periods we get from our weightloss effecting our hormones. -
Everyone gets it. Its trapped gas in your body from them inflating you. Gas floats up, so unfortunatly you will feel it in your upper body. It sucks bad but walking and stretching upper body helps.

Post Op and feeling great!!
corinne211 replied to doubleg71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not a smoker, but a friend of mine is and 3 weeks post op developed bronchitus that then turned into pneumonia. Doc Said it was because she started smoking 2 weeks post op and her lungs still had Fluid from surgery. She has yet to be back to work and she was banded a month ago. Please be careful. -

Any itching I had was from the Pain killers I got thru IV in the hospital. I was itching for days. Then also once the Heprin starts leaving your system you itch. They the pain killers you take home leave your system you itch. Its common for opiate withdrawl.

Had my 1st Post Op Doc follow-up!
corinne211 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everything went perfect. My nutritionist said I am following the recovery diet perfectly and that I am doing so well she is letting me jump to week 4 foods although I am only 15 days post op! I want a salad so BAD! I am soooo having one for dinner! hehe. My Doc said that I am healing very quickly and that I need to get a fill sooner then I was scheduled to. I had an appt for mid feb (6 week post op) and now I am getting it on 2/5 on my 1 month bandaversary. She said my stoma is healing fast and the more it heals the hungier I will feel. She said 4 weeks will be fine for my tummy and will keep me from pure torture. I am thrilled!! Also, I found out what this sore & shooting pain is in my lower left abdomin. She poked and patted around my abs and my doc said it is part of the route my band took to get in and I was pinched, cauterized, and jabbed all around there to get the port up. She said I wil have the pain a few more weeks and to keep wearing my tummy binder another week to help with pain. Also, I got a HORRENDOUS visit fom Aunt Flo as of yesterday thanks the the HEPERIN shots I received in the Hospital. Ladies Beware!!!! The pain is intense and so is the bleeding! It is worse then the Gas pain! They heavy flo is due to the blood thinner and our hormones going all out of wack from surgery and weight loss. Adding Evening primrose oil to your vits will help balance you out and is an natural anti-anflamatory and essential oil, so it will help with hair loss and dry skin as well. I never cramp! I feel like i am hemorraging and falling apart. Going in today I was at my wits end because I was told no Nsaids. I am sooooo Greatful my doc told me I could use children's motrin in liquid form for my cramps. She said a few days use once a month isnt gonna cause me an ulcer, ect. So I am taking 4tsp every 6-8 hrs. -
How many calories a day have you been told to intake?
corinne211 replied to mom2girls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone's intake cals are different because we are all at diff BMI's. I know you have ALL been on WW. So think of it as how many point you get in a day. I used to be allowed 26. My mom 22. A GF 28. Wen you BMI goes down your body will require less food to keep your motabalism going. I am choosing to stay between 1100-1300 cals a day and I am losing about 2lbs a week.
