Here is my story! Hello Everyone! I have not been able to get on to my computer ... But here I am. I was banded on September 20 (surgery took less then 1 hour) - and I feel wonderful! I did NOT experience any gas that so many have talked about ... Actually I am very blessed - the only pain I had was my neck and back from sleeping in the hospital bed for one night - I was ready to go home the same day, but my insurance insists I stay one night ... I was up and walking as soon as I got back to my room and felt full of energy! The nurses were amazed how well I felt and how quickly I was moving around. I was on the 10 day pre-op liquid diet and lost 10 lbs and have lost another 10 since surgery ... I was on liquids for the first week post-op and then to full liquids, but to be honest I have had "other foods" I just make sure to chew chew chew and I have not had any problems - I do not feel as hungry as I use to get and I certainly get full after a few bites ... I have to say everything has been wonderful .. I even had a piece of pizza! I am trying to walk a few times a week ... My insions are so tiny! they look like little scratches and do not bother me at all - my posrt area is healing well and again no pain. I really could of gone back to work on the Monday after surgery - but my surgeon said to take the 2 weeks and the short term disability and enjoy! So I am - i am getting a ton of stuff done around the house! this is a mini-vacation! I go back to work on Monday Oct 9 ... I hope everyone else is doing well. :):):):):) ALL SMILES HERE! 272 / 252 / 180 banded 9-20-06 - Dr Svendsen (Mpls) Here's to you all! CONGRATS!!!!!! :clap2:

Hello All - My banding is to take place on Thursday 9-21 ... time is coming up fast! I am on day 5 of my "liquid diet" I have never had so much soup in my life! It really has been pretty easy to stick to the liquids ... I wonder why only some of us have to have a 10 day pre-op diet of liquids and others do not. Does anyone know why this is? Also, does anyone know the average time length of surgery itself?

WOW! Sounds good everyone ... speedy reovery to all you that have been "banded" ... I am on day 3 of 10 of liquids pre-op - it has actually been easier than I thought, I think I am so determined to make this work for me that I am in the right mind frame ... I am not hungry (which is so unusual for me ...) I am mixing things up a bit Hot cider for breakfast and Carnation Instant Breakfast for lunch, snack is a flavored H20 (non-carbinated) and chx or beef broth for dinner - and a later snack a slimfast ... It does not seem like much - but I am truly not hungry! CRAZY!!!! I did eat like a pig for about a month prior to this 10 day pre-op liquid diet ... maybe that was helpful?!?!?! My surgery is on the 21st - only8 more days! This month is going by super fast! I wish everyone well wishes!!! You are all in my thoughts through all the phases we are going through ... WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Hello Everyone! Sounds like we have some good experiences so far! Keep it up! I start my 10 day pre-op liquid diet today!!! Uggggh ...my dietician has told me to have 3-6 Carnation Instant Breakfast with skim milk and to try Bullion, Broth and Crystal Light as "fill in" when I am hungry! So far so good ... it's only 7:11 am (so I have not eaten anything yet) Iam so nervous - 10 days is a long long long long time with no real food! Wish me luck! and I will be thinking of you all with surgeries coming up and wishing all of you that just had surgery a speedy recovery!

I have been given a list of items to "drink", but with no appetite suppressents or anything ... I am nervous that I will get super hungry and how I am going to handle that ... what do you guys think?
