This has me scared....
carmen74 replied to ausamerican33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the best advice someone gave me at the start of my journey was "Don't get too caught up in other peoples journeys" and don't forget that there are the people out there that know everything (or think they do!) and that will talk down to you...trust your instincts! :cursing: -
:cursing: a month from today and i'll be banded!!! whoa! countdown to pre-op diet!! yikes!! can i use a few more exclamation points?!?! lol i'm getting scared & nervous & anxious & crazy!!
-
Thanks everyone! It will be difficult avoiding beer, but I am so nervous about something happening I think I will be fine! I'm on the fence about actually going, it will probably be a game time decision! :cursing:

WEIRD post surgery issue...Restless Leg Syndrome?! help!
carmen74 replied to voodoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not post surgery, but I have RLS. In the medical community views on RLS are split 50/50, those who believe in it and those who think it's a load of BS. Also that it is very hard to determine a reason for it. HOWEVER...most people who have it also have Thyroid problems, which I do! I'm not a doctor so I'm not diagnosing you But maybe it's worth a look? -
Hi Ladies! I am in Stratford and am getting banded on Feb 23rd! I'm so happy there are more Connecticut people on here! It would be great if we all stayed in touch!
-
My doctor and nutritionist suggested that if I ever have a stuck episode to chew some of the Papaya Enzyme...has anyone tried this?
-
Admitting to people how much you weigh?
carmen74 replied to PalmBayTish72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a problem with that too! NOBODY knows my current weight...well aside from my doctors and this entire community! LOL My boyfriend (who had the bypass about 9 years ago) keeps pestering me to tell him and cannot understand why I won't tell him. Maybe once I reach my goal I will tell...but not now. Oh...and I have had a handful of people say to me "Why are you having it, you aren't that big" I cannot tell you how much that pisses me off!! What are you supposed to say to that?!?! All times I said "umm...yeah I am" LOL -
Bloggers, Video Bloggers, Online diary Keepers
carmen74 replied to Chele6378's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I started my blog/diary in November and promptly forgot about it lol Thanks to you I started again today!! I'm with the band... I sure hope that link works -
Everytime I talk to someone about getting banded one of the first questions they ask is "What is your goal?" I NEVER have an answer! I have no concept of weight in numbers.....the fact that my boyfriends sister weighs pretty close to what I weigh flabbergasts me. She is 5'3" I am 5'8" she wears a size 18 jeans I wear 26/28. I know it's all in how we carry it body type etc etc but it still baffles me!! I've told people that I would be prefectly happy in a size 14 maybe 12 as long as I can shop somewhere other than Fat Chicks R Us (that is what I call LB lol) But I have no idea what weight that means for me. ANYWAY...I'm a bit longwinded...sorry My questions are as follows.....what's your height weight and goal? Did you or your doctor set the goal for you?
-
ahhhhh....see maybe that's my problem....because I have ALWAYS been heavy I honestly do not believe that I was EVER a size 10 or 12. I remember being a freshman in high school wearing a 14 or 16 jeans, prior to that I always wore stretch pants (it was the 80's after all lol) So conceivably the last time I could have possibly been a size 10 or 12 was when I was younger than 14 definitely no way I can compare my >14 year old body to my 35 year old body lmao

PRE Op Diet Hard to follow
carmen74 replied to LOLA121's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I start my liquid diet on Feb 6 (surgery feb 23)...I am NOT looking forward to it! The day before Superbowl? Bleh...no beer no wings etc etc :-( It's going to be really hard being around 20+ people eating all those goodies while I "enjoy" Optifast shakes!! HOWEVER.....knowing that those shakes are taking me one step closer to being healthy and .... not fat definitely makes it easier!! -

carmen74 replied to sKiPpY_C's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Questions before going forward with lap-band...
carmen74 replied to pmommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for asking these questions!! Some of them are exactly from my list!! :-) I have one to add: I know pretty much everyone will probably have a different answer, but.... What does it feel like when you are stuck? Another adjective besides "umcomfortable" please :-) does it feel like bad cramps? bad gas? a punch in the stomach? -

oh yes....I forgot to mention I was a transplant from the Jan Bandsters thread....I was a little overzealous in thinking it was going to be in Jan LOL And thanks to another poster..Abra I think is the name....about my height and weight and her goal is 170...I was thinking 180 for myself but didn't want to say it lol But I am saying it now....I think around 180 is good for me!

Will & Will-Nots for Pre & Post-Bandsters
carmen74 replied to mimi1512's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never again will I walk by a window or mirror and wonder what the heck that thing is following me only to realize that it is my butt! :wink2: -
1.What is your current and goal weight? Starting 300+ current 298 As far as my goal goes, I don't have one! LOL My goal SIZE is a 12/14 which I would be comfortable and healthy at. I really believe that for me, weighing 140-150 would be TOO small, I'd look like a bony lollipop! Anyway...I think my bmi is 45 or so 2.What is your surgery date? TBD early 2010 i hope! 3.What is your age? 34 will be 35 in 22 days! 4.Where do you live? Stratford CT 5.Where are you having surgery? Bridgeport CT 6.Who is your Doctor?? Dr Craig Floch 7.Insurance or self-pay? ins 8.What was you "deciding factor" for having this surgery? looking in the mirrorr everyday and realized that fat girl looking back was me.....wanting a family, wanting to be able to run after my boyfriends niece and nephew, not needing weeks of recovery after moving or dancing all night at my friends wedding yadda yadda yadda

Hi CT people! I hope everyone is well...I am a newbie to this site. My 6 months of "medically supervised" blah blah is up in December so I am hoping for an early 2010 surgery date!!!
