Hi there, I have Avmed Open Access HMO. They were required to give me a response in 72 hours. They were very good about the whole process, no complaints i was approved in 4 days once all the paperwork was sent to them. I have to give my surgeons office alot of credit. They made sure all the paperwork was inorder before they sent it in. Approval on the first time. Good luck on your journey, its worth the wait. Banded 10/22/09 -
Hi there Banded on 10/22/09. Im still in pain. the pain from the gas is getting better. The walking realy does help. I have pain in the port area too. The Doc gave me some liquid lortab, it helps, but makes you kinda drowzy. Im told it will get better day by day. It is all worth it, just tell him to hang in there, I'm hanging in there with him also. Jim

Well i met with my Endo yesterday and met with my PCP today. After talking with the both of them and my surgeon, I have the final approval from my PCP today !! Looks like im still on trac for next thursday. Just need to keep a close watch on my sugar levels. -
I will thanks ! I got the clearance i needed today from my PCP !Looks like im on track for next thursday. Cant wait for the new me.

Good luck Jim! I was banded on May 19th by Dr. Paul Wizman at Northwest Medical Center in Margate. I have lost 43.5 lbs since my surgery and a total of 55.5 since the 2 wks before my surgery when I started the pre-op liquid diet. This is the best thing I could have ever done for my health and my life. Keep in touch and let me know how your surgery goes!!

Crap ! did the blood work yesterday and the onlything hold ing me back at this time was clearance from my Primay Doc. They called me today and said my glucose levels were too high, Sugury date is 10/22/09 anyone else have this problem ? I need to get clearance from my Endocronoligist now. Hope all goes well today. -
Ive had my cpap for 10 years now and dont go anywere without it ! I even go on hunting and camping trips. Those of you that dont like it, you should try it with the humidifier. I didnt like mine at first. They switch me to the comfort gel mask and added the heated humidifier ! Big difference. Those that are going in for the sleep study, just were some comfortable PJ's there going to hook up about 15 (not sure on this) electrodes to your head throat face ears and a couple to your leggs. You sleep in a hotel like room and they moitor you u using 2 way speaker micropfone and infrared camera. Some Dr will do a split session. First 90 minutes without CPAP then the rest of the night with. I stopped breathing 61 times in 90 minutes and had 73 shallow breathing episodes in the first 90 minutes. After they hooked me up to the machine, all that went away. CPAP is a life saver for me.

October 22 !! Went by the Docs office today to signed the concent forms. While i was there i asked about the pre-op liquid diet. She told me that becuase my BMI was below 50 that i was not required to do the liquid diet prior to the surgery. Anyone else have the same issue ?
