Well, I was always an active kid and teenager. I played lots of sports, took dance lessons, and rode my bike everywhere. Then I went to college and all of that changed. I drove everywhere instead of biking. I didn't have any time for sports and my courses. Junior year I started gaining weight at a rate of 10 pounds a year. I went from 180 to 290 in 10 years. Yikes! When I finally got it that I was way too heavy, I couldn't get the weight off. No amount of exercise or calorie counting made me loss more than 10 pounds. A doctor put my on meds and with that I only lost 30 pounds. When the meds were done I gained 20 back. Now, I'm convince that I am not an emotional eater and I love to exercise. It seemed to me that after two years of thinking about whether to do a surgery or not I finally came to terms with food and I'm so ready to get this weight gone for good. With my surgery date a few short days away I am noticing how uninteresting food is to me anymore. Nothing tastes as good as I think it should in my head so I feel like I"m really ready for the change and work to come.
I can't wait to get started for real. Dec. 17th can't come fast enough.
