    day one of preop diet

Hello all! I am 8 days post op. Curious...I wasn't put on ANY liquid or protein 'diet' before my surgery. I did, however, on my own lose 38 pounds since march by counting calories and moving! I am now having a difficult time with the whole protein powder thing. Everything I've done with is is awful! I can't eat it. I can only drink the pre made shakes, which are very expensive. I paid 75 dollars on the powder and I'm not eating any of it! Today I ate 14 cheeze it crackers, one at a time until it turned to mush, but it was scarry-I was so hungry! Any advice from anyone here???
  4. I decided in 2004 having wt loss surgery was going to be the 'thing' for me in my life with wt management. It took until 2008 to actually go to a class towards achieving this goal. It took another 14 months before I was granted a surgery date.I was a chubby girl, then my brother died and this broke our family apart. There was such sadness. My constant:My food. This was my friend and my enemy in one. Thus the journey began.Weight gain, weight loss, more gained, getting older, etc.I gave up dieting in 2002.I would never again go on a diet because of the fear of failure and dieting doesn't work! 2 years later I learned about gastric surgery and began my walk learning all about this process. I've lost 38 pounds since March hoping to help my surgery be easier.People have said:"why do surgery since you're successful with losing wt on your own?" My answer: because I've done this many times before and I'm not taking chances with my life now! Surgery was Nov 5, 2009-starting surgery wt.250 pounds

    18 days after surgery.....

I am only 8 days out and today I ate normal foods. Yes, softish, but normal to me! I made chedder potato soup today and had 2 cups! I do a terrible job with the protein and not sure how to fix that. I hate the powder protein crap, and I spent 75 dollars on getting a large chocolate, vanilla, and natural (natural?) flavored bottles, but each time I've mixed these powders into things the taste and consistency is so awful i can't eat it. I don't have a lot of money but i have found that the already mixed drinks in cans are probably going to have to be the way to go for me! They don't taste as bad and don't have a consistency that makes me cringe. I am hoping to be eating things in a week or so with the protein I need like cheeses and scrambled eggs and creamy peanut butter, No clue as to the actual date I can eat these things just hope its soon! Getting a little bit stronger each day, but I do have this pain in my left side that is horrible. I don't' know what it is..the band, too much "food" in the pouch? too much water? or am I sitting/laying down wrong? I took a 15 minute walk and it only got worse.
  6. I am 8 days post op. I really have no one to talk to about this. I've tried looking online and all I find are some blogs, most of them so out dated that i'm sure nobody corresponds any more. I really need some people to talk to about what i'm going through. Calling the nurse is pointless. If anybody can take a minute to add me as a friend either on facebook or through email, please do! the email is the same as my user ID and at yahoo. Thank you!
