I have been having pain in my right side of my neck, right shoulder, right arm all the way down to the right side of my right hand. Also, the location of the port has lots of scar tissue, so much so, that when I lay face down (my sleeping preference), that spot hurts. I have to adjust myself in weird positions so as not to aggravate the port and scar tissue. Does anyone else have these problems. If yes, what can one do to alleviate this?

Thanks, B. I have not had insurance for the last 3 years! I just began working and my insurance kicks in next month (finally). So, I have just a couple of weeks to go. When all this first began (and after I lost my job and insurance), the bariatric facility from whom I received my surgery, refused to work with me unless I paid out-of-pocket expenses (and without a job, I couldn't do that). So, I'll be looking elsewhere for answers. Thanks! O

Has anyone lost their sense of smell/taste since surgery?

I used to have heightened sense of smell, but I don't anymore. Frustrating! -
Has anyone lost their sense of smell/taste since surgery?
gramma-O replied to salmar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 2 years post and my smeller doesn't work as well as it used to, thus affecting my taste. This is off and on, but mostly on (or loss thereof). gramma-O -
The woman that died from drinking water for the radio contest did so b/c she drank it extremly fast. Someplace, somewhere I read that 1 oz. per every ounce of your weight is what one should be drinking...at my highest weight, I would have drowned...

I too am in So. Cal. My doctor's office is out of Dr. LePort, Lite Dimensions and Dr. Kelly Frances was my surgeon. They are based in Fountain Valley.

I am just wondering...why does your dr. have to be there for the fill? I've had two fills and they were not done by the dr., they were done by the assistants. I haven't even seen my dr. since before I had surgery (10/9/09). I got my 1st fill on 12/7/09, but when I called the office to try and schedule a sooner fill, I was rejected and told I had to wait until 12/7. Wish you the best! 35 lbs. lost since I began my journey.

Hi carmen74, I ate deli meat when I got into my solid food stage and was fine eating it. However, now that I've had my second fill (6cc in an 11cc band), I am very restricted and getting down any kind of meat down is hard on me. I go for fish and extremely tender dark chicken or turkey; the white meat is too hard on me.

POLL Should I have them redone to make them perfect... Breast pictures
gramma-O replied to princess_n_thep's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mine are different sizes, naturally...been like that all my life. So, if it were me and I paid that much to have them done, then I'd want them PERFECT. Yours are noticebly different in size (arms up or down) and you should go back to the dr. and have him re-do them. -

I like the Slim Fast Low Carb, but they've been taken off the shelf for right now. Hopefully, they bring them back...sometimes all I want is something to drink rather than eat. Banded 10/9/09; 1st fill: 12/7/09 2nd fill: 1/19/10 Total 6.5 fill in 11.00 band :smile2: -
I only visit "new posts" and it was in this category. I still feel this site should stick to ONLY bariatric issues. I can go anyplace else for the other garbage!

This is a site to discuss bariatric surgery - hello??? Let's keep political issues where they belong...in the garbage!!! I don't appreciate this topic taking so much valuable space!!!

Ate too much 1 week post op.
gramma-O replied to Bandnerd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't worry so much about it. I couldn't resist pretzels (the big hard ones) and took a couple of bites and it did NOT go down w/out some difficulty. Then I did it again last night...gosh, when am I going to learn??? I'm 10 days post-op and have lost 20 lbs. and was feeling fantastic; however, after last night's pretzel fiesta, today I feel full (bloated), like I need to burp and can't and am feeling a bit down for doing so...but I will move on and do the best I can b/c I did not go through this whole process to fail.....I will prevail!!! NO MORE PRETZELS FOR ME! -
What to tell family and friends about your decision for WLS
gramma-O replied to bandstarr430's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my immediate family who are all very supportive and I've shared my decision with a few co-workers whom I trust. I waited until the surgery was definitely approved and I was scheduled for surgery (10/9/09) before telling people, however. url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wL79ymE/] [/url] -
I had same type thing happen to me two years ago. At that time I was considering gastric bypass. My doc wanted me to lower my blood sugar and in my doing so, I lost 35 lbs. My dr. then said I was doing so well on my own that she was NOT going to recommend the surgery. I was livid. So, two years later, different insurance, different dr., and different surgery, I got approved and am schedule for Oct 2, this Friday! :frown2: I can hardly wait! I've lost 12.5 lbs on pre-op diet and am aiming towards another 5 lb. loss before Friday. :smile2: Good luck to you and change doctors! :smile2:
