From the album: "Meet Mrs. Riley" :)
This is fourth of July 2010... I wear a 12-14 here about 170-165 the belt has become my friend...at about this point is when my body really began to compact and take a new shape...I would suggest go easy on the clothes buying, when you hit your target weight you will adjust and may take a smaller size, especially in jeans...they only shrink so much... -

Im about 170s here, a true 14...I added this shot for those of you who are still working toward your goal...as your weight begins to get closer to goal, you body will sort of "compact" if that makes sense? The number may not get much lower but your sizes may...notice the difference in my build, like across the shoulders...good bye man shoulders! -

Here is another swimming shot... now Im not all about the pictures while swimming, but I truly think this was the first time that I realized I had lost weight...The swimming top was a 14,,, a lil snug, and the bottoms were a 16 a lil big...of course this beat the 16-18 top and 16 shorts I had on at Calika Island just 3 months back... -

I recently begun using "Myfitnesspal.com" to track what I eat and if I had met my goals. It really is the neatest thing! After you enter in your foods it keeps track of your calorie consumption, in addition to carbs, proteins, vitamin C...etc You might want to check it out! Good luck to you! -
Oh gosh, Im so sorry to say this, but no. After 2 days I still had a pain pump, by day 3 it was gone and the port pain developed. It does subside within the week, but I would be afraid of someone bumping into me at the concert, not to mention you might be a little light-headed from not eating alot. Maybe you could give your ticket to a friend as a gift? Good luck on your surgery! Im sure by the time her next concert rolls around youll feel like you could give Shania a run for her money!

If I knew pre-op what I know post-op, I would have....

...took more time off of work. Going back to work within 3 days is a total understatement...(for me anyway) -
Not sure if I need to get another fill????
jenriley replied to slpcat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the same boat as you as of Christmas. I was losing at a good rate, but became hungry every 3 hours as well. I went back for a fill the day before Christmas Eve. It was a mistake. I was so tight over Christmas I could only drink liquids, and not a whole lot of that. I was miserable! Here 2 weeks later I have loosened up enough to eat, but my weight loss has slowed. Seems like I had found my sweet spot, but didnt know it, and now I am having to wait until my band loosens up again to start loosing weight again. (I hope that makes sense) I think by eating so few calories while being too tight worked against me, not to mention I felt just awful...Of course this is my own experience and might not necessarily be yours...I think if your loosing good you should hold off for a couple more weeks before going back for a tweek...best of luck to you in whatever you decide! -
Help - Very Discouraged!
jenriley replied to jlpettas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jl... Please dont get discouraged...It will get better, I promise! You sound like you just dont have enough restriction right now but you will. Just keep getting your fills. I have 7 in a 10cc band and have just started loosing consistantly. I was banded 8/10/09 and up until my last 2 fills had lost only around 25 pounds. I think I have lost right around 40 right now. Restriction will come but as you loose more belly fat, it will become looser. Dont grieve too much over who eats a half a cup and who eats a whole, its going to be different for everyone. Eat what you need to be healthy and satisfied and what allows you to loose consistantly. I have been too tight in the past, and believe me I would rather figure out what works for me than be miserablly tight to eat only 1/4 a cup of food. I think there will not be one sweet spot for me. I loose good awhile and then have to get filled a little more to find it again. Just do your best, like it sounds like you have been, and it will come off even if it is slow at times. I wish you the absolute best of luck! -
Is this really worth it??
jenriley replied to MrsBerggren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"Is this really worth it to me?? I am seriously asking myself that a lot lately." Im ashamed to say this, because I feel so fortunate to have had the lapband when others couldnt, but Im with ya! As of right now I have 6ccs, but dont get stuck too often. Still, I have very little enjoyment from food, and like you I never get to enjoy a meal with my family, not to mention my weight loss seems to be consistant, but so SLOW! I was banded on Aug 9, and have lost 26 pounds so far, 10 of it from the presurgery diet. I often find myself thinking maybe I should have had gastric as well. -
Struggling with the weightloss - no restriction
jenriley replied to lapband 8-26-09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with you guys on the weightloss...I too was banded in August, on the 10th. To date I have only lost 26 pounds which includes the weight I loss from the presurgery diet. I can only manage to loose about a half a pound a week. It is sooo frustrating! I have had a fill every 2 weeks since a month after my surgery and am up to 6ccs in a 10cc band. I have just now starting to feel restriction, but havent lost any weight. I think it would help me if I only knew who much I should be eating at a setting. I keep getting conflicting statements...sometimes 10oz at others a half or full cup? I dont know if I'll ever get this weight loss thing right!:tt2: -
Restriction goes away
jenriley replied to lkarelee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had 3 fills so far...I currently have 5ccs in a 10cc band...It wasnt until my 3rd fill that I started feeling any restriction and it only lasted a couple of weeks, so give it some time and a couple of more fills. Im sure youll feel restriction within the next couple of fills. Good Luck! -
Glad you asked that question, I've been wondering the same thing! I had my band put in on August 10th as well, while I havent lost as much as you have, I seem to be loosing my butt and my boobs instead of the parts I really want to loose, my arms and belly. As far as the dark spots, I dont have any but I'm sure they will fade...Good Luck to you!:seeya:

Dr. Derek Weiss from Bluegrass Bariatric was my surgeon. He was soo nice and comforting. I highly recommend him. I first went to the clinic on May 7th, 2009 and was banded Aug. 10th! Everything went like clockwork. His staff handled all the insurance stuff. Basically, all I had to do was show up!

I'm doing pretty good so far...how have you been doing? I still havent lost very much only about 18 pounds total. I had my band done on the 10th of August. Sometimes I regret not having the bypass. But anyway...look at you! Youve done great! How much are you down now, and how much saline/restriction do you have? I dont get on here very much so why dont you email me so I can get your address. We HAVE to keep in touch! Maybe we can do some walking at that big church in London. My email is jennifer.riley@laurel.kyschools.us and my home is rileylondon@aol.com

I recently had lapband surgery on August 10th, 2009 in Lexington, KY. Dr. Derrick Weiss was my surgeron. He was excellent! Looking forward to meeting people, especially in the London, KY area who have had lapband recently as well.:tongue2:
