Hi,My name is Alexandra and I'm 21 years old. I wanted to share some brief background info on my life before surgery. I have a history of being obese my whole life, and it's not easy being an overweight teen. Since I turned 19 my weight has skyrocketed to 250lbs at the highest. When I saw pictures of myself I wanted to crawl under a rock and stay there. I feel like I am hiding from the world, and live in a shell. I don't usually want to go out anywhere were I might see someone I knew in school because I know they will judge me on my weight. I also rarely made physical exams with the doctor because "I knew what he would say about my weight." My emotions about my weight have not only taken a toll on me, it has on my family also. I promised myself I would never go over 180lbs. because that is considered morbidly obese for some. I wanted to take time to let everyone know, you are not alone. I have had days where I just cried because I felt lost, ashamed and embarrassed. Everyone who has ever been overweight in your life knows that it's a tough world out there, and you cant go anywhere without being judged. I put myself in the position to gain more and more weight until it was out of control.. But now it's time to face the facts.
MY NEW JOURNEY..I decided I would get the lap band in June.. and let me tell you.. it is a long process for some, and shorter for others. I had to jump through many hoops to get here.. but it is SO worth it! I had my surgery two days ago, on September 21st. I am so excited to get my life on track again. I want to WOW myself and others when they see me. I want to be able to fit in designer jeans, and feel great about myself. When I decide to have kids.. I want to run and play and I want them to be proud of me. I cant wait to see success in my life.
