Just got band filled....I'm frustrated and have questions
Sara09 commented on Sara09's blog entry in Blog 75823
I just got my first fill on Wednesday but still don't really feel restricted to how much I can eat. He told me that if I didn't lose at least 4 lbs this month to come back for another fill. How has everyone else done after their first fill? Did you feel restricted right away or does it take a few times getting a fill? I am so frustrated because I thought that after I got my fill, I'd really start to feel like I'd start losing weight. Need suggestions, comments please!!! -
I finally got my band filled today and am soooo excited to start losing weight. I'd been maintaining my weight since surgery but not losing anymore. The only thing that sucks is that I'm on liquids for 24 hours. Oh well, it will be worth it. And to beat all, here I was sooo worked up and nervous about getting my fill and turns out, it was nothing. It was super quick and no more painful than getting blood taken. So for those of you that haven't gotten a fill...don't worry, it's nothing! Good luck and God Bless.

I was supposed to get my band filled for the first time last Thursday but then I got a call that the Dr's wife had went into labor and I had to reschedule for this Wendesday. Not that I'm not happy for my Dr and his wife, but boy was I disappointed...I had been looking forward to the fill for 6 weeks. But here I am...and I'll get my fill tomorrow. I'm nervous but excited. I just hope he can find the port (I can feel it so I would assume that he could find it ok) and that I won't have to go the hospital and have it done under x-ray. So anyway....keep your fingers crossed for me and I'll post an update tomorrow evening about my apt.

Well I've waited 6 weeks for today....I'm getting my band filled for the first time since surgery. I'm excited but nervous because I don't know what to expect. But I am definitely looking forward to losing more weight.

Hey there....Hang in there, it will go away I promise. I was banded on September 18th and I was in pain all weekend and for most of the next week. It took about a week to really start feeling better. Just don't over do it and take it day by day! I don't know if they gave you an ice pack, but if they did, use it!!! It really helped me a lot.

Hello, banded on 9/15/2009
Sara09 replied to dandeegan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Dan....congrats on your band! I was banded on Sept. 18th and won't get my first fill until Oct. 29th. I've lost a total of 20lbs which include my pre-op diet and like you, am looking forward to my fill so I can experience some "real weight loss". But it sounds like you have done great so far. I can still eat pretty much whatever I want as well and know that that will change after the band is tightened, but am also looking at trying to eat more "healthier" foods. Good luck to you and God Bless. -
It has been 3 weeks since surgery and I have another 3 weeks until I get my first fill. I've lost 16 pounds total, which includes the weight I lost on my liquid diet. I am ready to get my first fill so I can see some "real" weight loss. I can still pretty much eat what I want, but I do get fuller faster and have been trying to watch what I eat but it's still hard at times. I think the whole "not drinking while eating" is a big one for me. I have taken sips but just need to cut it out period. I love this website, it's great to read everyone's thoughts and comments and hear how great everyone is doing. I hope you all keep up the good work. Good luck and God Bless.

I had surgery on 9/18 and am recovering pretty well. I had been pretty sore on the right side where the port is, but now I'm really sore and tender on my left side (right above my incision). I was just wondering if anyone else is or has experienced pain and tenderness there as well.

I was banded Sept. 18th and had lost 10 pounds leading up to surgery on my liquid diet and then lost 5 pounds right after. I'd gained a few of those back but have now lost them again. I haven't had my first fill yet so I'm still able to eat pretty much anything, but am trying to limit myself as much as possible. I'm looking forward to my fill in 3 weeks so I can actually start seeing some "real" results. You will be sore for a few days after surgery but I was back to work that Monday (surgery was that past Friday). Just take it easy and you should be fine. Good luck to you!

I was banded on Sept. 18th and had pain on my left side for most of that next week. At the end of the 1st week it went away. If your pain continues, I would have it checked out. Good luck to you!

I was banded on Sept. 18th so I know what you are talking about. I got up and walked around a lot, which really does help. I still burp a lot, especially when I've been sitting for a while and then get up and move around. At first it hurt but it's not too bad now. Each day gets a little bit better. It took about a week to really start feeling better. Good luck to you!

What do you think...advice needed!!!
Sara09 replied to chrissyd0425's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am like you in the fact that I wasn't sure if I wanted this device in my body. But the more I thought about it the more I realized that if I really wanted to lose the weight, then this is what I was going to have to do. I am only 29 years old and have struggled with my weight for many years. I got to the point that I couldn't even look at pictures of myself and every day I constantly obsessed about how big I was. So I went through with it and was banded on Sept. 18th. I am looking forward to my new journey and can't wait to get this weight off. Good luck in your decision! God Bless. -
I was finally banded on Sept. 18th. I went to my first Dr. Apt last October. I was told in December that I would have to do a 6 mo diet plan with my doctor so I started that Jan. 15th. I had my last Dr. Apt at the beginning of July and then my file was sent to the insurance co for approval. They took FOREVER!!! First they came back and said that they needed more information about the surgery (and also that they had 15 business days to review the file) so they took 15 business days to review my file, then another 15 business days to review the info about the surgery and then they came back and said that they needed a letter from my Dr. stating that I was cleared for surgery. It was the beginning of September before I got my final approval. I hope that you don't have to go through all of this. Good luck to you!! I am looking forward to my new journey.

What can't you eat after you are banded?
Sara09 replied to SumSum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's been 8 days since I was banded and I don't have any fill in my band yet. I have eased my way back into some foods, for instance, I had 1 slice of pizza for dinner and just chewed it very well. I've been trying to go easy on my stomach and eat things like soup, yogurt, applesauce, etc. But a co-worker was able to eat subway sandwiches up until the Dr. filled her band. -
Thanks for letting me know something...I guess what worries me is that it's on my left side now. My port side is still tender, but the left side seems to hurt worse right now. I can't feel anything there though. Good luck to you on your continued success! God Bless

I was just banded on 9/18/09 and am really excited about my new journey! I've lost 17 lbs since starting my pre-liquid diet until today. My goal is to lose 85 lbs.

I'm doing pretty well....I'm still sore but am trying to move around as much as possible to work that out. I agree...every day it gets a little easier. I haven't been starving, but have had times that I've definitely been hungry, but can't hold as much as I think I can (old habbit I guess, lol) Good luck to you as well.
