    NOT HUNGRY! Woohoo!!!

YAY for you!!! I go back next week and am going to ask for a 1/2 CC...which would put me at 6.5cc's. I haven't had that "full" feeling yet either and am hoping after reading your blog that 6.5 cc's will be my "sweet spot" as well. Good luck to you on your journey. God Bless!

    Would like some advice....

I was banded on Sept. 18th 2009 and I've only lost 30 lbs since then....It's coming off very slow...but that is also my fault as well. I've only recently starting exercising on a regular basis....and I've eaten a lot of foods that I know I should stay away from...(old habits die hard)!!! So I'm asking for advice from you guys....what has been the best thing that you've done to help you lose the weight quicker....is it Restricting Calories, Carbs, lot's of exercise and water, lot's of protien....Whatever it is, I'd like to know. I went to my doctor a couple weeks ago and he told me that I was doing 'good' but not 'great'.....Spring time is coming and then soon it will be Summer....I really want to be a lot thinner by then. I'm not going up in weight but rather just maintaining. I'd appreciate any advice that you guys will give me. I love reading all of your blogs and hearing everyone's success. This website Rocks!!! Thanks guys.

Not losing yet and still hungry

I understand the frustration you are feeling...I was banded Sept. 18th and have only lost 30lbs. I know for me, in the beginning after surgery, you can pretty much eat whatever you want because you have nothing in your band yet. But after you get a fill, you will feel more restricted. I didn't actually start to feel 'restricted' until after my 2nd fill, but they do it slowly so your body has time to adjust to your new way of eating. I've got 6cc's in my band (it's a 10cc band) and I've had 3 fills. The advice I was given was to up your protein (you should have 60-80 grams a day) and always eat your protein first so you'll get fuller quicker...then eat your veggies if you still feel hungry. And also keep a journal on what you are eating. I started one today so that I can track my water, calories and protein. I've also upped my exercising (which I really just started here recently). Good luck to you and try not to feel too down about it...after all at least you lost 2 lbs and not gained 2 lbs. That's the way I've had to look at my weight loss...had I not had the surgery, I'm sure I would still be as big as I was if not bigger. But now, I even lost weight thru the holidays which I've never done before. Keep it up girl, I know you can do it...Heck, we both can!!!

    Would like some advice....

Thanks for all of your comments...I found a food diary this morning and printed it out and have started using today. I've been exercising more and hopefully upping that, my protein and keeping the journal I'll be able to lose more. Thanks again!

    Wondering....

When I had my 2nd fill I would get that "full" feeling....now that I've had my 3rd fill I don't really get that full feeling but rather the feeling that "nothing else will go down my throat" because I feel it building up and I know that if I keep eating, it's gonna come back up. So I was just wondering if any of you guys have the same feeling? Also has anyone ever ordered anything from that website bariatriceating.com? I've looked at it several times contemplating ordering a few of the pre-mixed drinks but they are pretty expensive and want to make sure that I would like them first. Any advice would be appreciated. :tongue_smilie:

    Today my Journey begins

Good for you!!! I myself have struggled with my weight since an early age and I too tried all the "diets" and so forth. I was banded last September and have lost 30 lbs....although I wish it were coming off a little faster...I'm thrilled that for the first time in my life, I'm losing instead of gaining! Good luck to you in your journey and God Bless you.

    Nervous about the first fill!!!

I've had 3 fills and have not had any numbing medication on any of them....it's really not bad at all. I remember how scared I was the first time I went in for my first fill too, but afterwards I was like "really, this was it". Good luck with everything!

    Getting close!!

Let me first say that you shouldn't go by what other people lose...and I say that because I have a co-worker as well as my sister in law that have also had the surgery. Our 3 bodies are totally different so we have lost weight at a different pace. I was banded Sept. 18th and so far I have lost 30 lbs. It is a little slower than I had hoped but I can't be upset because I'm losing instead of gaining. It's equalled out to be about 7.5 lbs a month. But I also haven't exercised much either. And like others have said, you aren't really restricted until you get a couple fills. I am on fill #3 now and am pretty restricted. I've lost 6 lbs since I got my fill almost 3 weeks ago. It's an exciting journey and I wish you all the best with everything! Hopefully I was of some help to you.

    Got third fill today!

I went for my third fill today and am now up to 6 CC's. I was at 5 before and still didn't feel too restricted so I had him make it just a tad tighter today....so I'm hoping that tomorrow (after my 24hr liquid's) that I will really be able to tell a BIG difference. All together I've lost a total of 22 pounds since September...but was happy that I'd lost weight over Christmas, I honestly thought that I was going to either stay the same or even gain a couple pounds because I wasn't exactly "behaving" myself at all times. I am wondering if this might be my "sweet spot"....I'm hoping so.

    1.5 week check up

Hi there....Congrats on your recent banding!! I just wanted to let you know....don't be upset if you don't get "really full" after you get your first fill. If your Dr. is like mine, they won't put much in it the first time. I was very disappointed after my first fill because I was expecting to feel "really full" every time I ate and that wasn' so. I had my second fill the first of December and I'm definitely tighter but can still eat more than I expected. I go for my next apt. tomorrow and am going to ask him to fill it again. I've always heard that your 3th fill is when you really start feeling it. So good luck to you, don't rush it....look how far you've come already. Pace yourself when you eat so you'll get full quicker and really chew your food so nothing get's stuck and you end up throwing it back up.

    Pre Op Diet.............

When I had to go on my pre-op liquid diet my Dr. told me that I had to "stick to it" because if I didn't then my liver wouldn't shrink and it would be harder for him to perform the surgery, if at all. So I definitely made sure that I stuck to it, after all I'd been thru with the 6 mo. diet and stuff, I wanted to make sure that he would be able to do the surgery. I think all in all lost like 9 lbs on the pre-op diet.

    Question about throwing up...

I was banded on Sept. 18th and I never "threw up" until I had my second fill at the first of December. But it was totally my fault and like the others said, it's because you don't chew enough or you take too big a bite or you are rushing to eat. I have had to really watch at times and make sure that I'm eating slower and chewing my food really well. It's hard to get used to at first because we are still in the mind set of eating faster and eating more food. So my advice to you is just be careful and chew really well. Good luck!

    Getting 2nd Fill today....

I'm excited but a little nervous...I swear I don't think he even put hardly any in the first time...I've still been able to eat the same. So hopefully he'll crank it up this time. lol I haven't lost anymore so I'm looking forward to doing that...obviously! I was wondering though....how are you guys doing things....are you measuring your food? Exercising a lot? What are your secrets? Thanks for any tips you can give me. I'll let you all know how it goes today.

    Getting 2nd Fill today....

Just got back a little bit ago from the Dr's office and I'm drinking my soup for dinner and it seems to be going down a lot slower so I'm really hoping that I'm gonna see some great results this time around.
  18. Wow, 28lbs is great!!! I just got back from my Dr's office and got my 2nd fill. Neither one of them hurt, it's like getting blood taken (only I think this is easier). I haven't been exercising as much either and bought myself a pedomiter so I can track my steps. Water and my dinner (which is soup) seem to be going down slower so I'm hoping that I see a big difference. Good luck to you!!

  20. I just got my first fill on Wednesday but still don't really feel restricted to how much I can eat. He told me that if I didn't lose at least 4 lbs this month to come back for another fill. How has everyone else done after their first fill? Did you feel restricted right away or does it take a few times getting a fill? I am so frustrated because I thought that after I got my fill, I'd really start to feel like I'd start losing weight. Need suggestions, comments please!!!
  21. ok I can't type, I meant to say that "recover after surgery was about a week before I felt normal again"
  22. Christine t - to answer your question, yes I would do it all over again....although I've just had my first fill and am not really restriced yet, I'm looking forward to my weight loss. I haven't had any digestive problems at all and recovery after surgery was about a 1 before I felt "normal" again. It's a big decision to have the surgery, you just need to make sure that it's for you. Good luck.
  23. I am not quite sure how many cc's he put in because he said he doesn't go by cc's but by how you feel when it's being filled....and at the time I had some tightness and he took some out and it went away, so he stopped. I almost feel like he took out all that he put in. I started exercising a bit and am going to give it this month, but I really wanted that restriction from eating too much, like you guys, I did this to help lose weight. Obviously if I could have done it on my own, I wouldn't have had the surgery.

    1st Fill Today

Well I've waited 6 weeks for today....I'm getting my band filled for the first time since surgery. I'm excited but nervous because I don't know what to expect. But I am definitely looking forward to losing more weight. :crying:

    Finally filled today!!!

I finally got my band filled today and am soooo excited to start losing weight. I'd been maintaining my weight since surgery but not losing anymore. The only thing that sucks is that I'm on liquids for 24 hours. Oh well, it will be worth it. And to beat all, here I was sooo worked up and nervous about getting my fill and turns out, it was nothing. It was super quick and no more painful than getting blood taken. So for those of you that haven't gotten a fill...don't worry, it's nothing! Good luck and God Bless.
