  1. I use Isopure. It comes in bottles and is not a shake. Each bottle has 40 g of Protein. I will drink about 1/4 to 1/2 a bottle a day to supplement what my diet doesn't cover. That being said, I do really well at getting my protein via the diet. I like the Isopure because it isn't a shake. I do not like the shakes. While it's expensive (a case of these bottles is almost $50!) I've had a case last me more than a month. So, it works well. Just a few tips on what I do. I hope it helps. Good luck in getting that protein!
  2. Hey, I think there's a lot of good information to be found within this thread. I think TJ was just trying to help. Swan, I'm in the same boat. I was banded on 12/31/09 and do not get a fill until 2/9/10. I feel very little in the way of restriction, and have to tell my self to stop eating. My Doctor told me this would happen and to consider this time between the surgery and first fill as the "diet of your life." Exercise the control now to keep from gaining the post op weight loss back. Just to be sensible and make healthy choices. Take the time to let your body heal, get the kinks worked out of the the exercise program and then the fill will happen. This is what he said. So, I'm taking it to heart. Am I hungry, you bet I am. However, I gotta do what he says. Good luck Swan, you're so close to the first fill. I'm looking forward to mine too!

    The foray back to food.

This morning was one week since I was banded. Hooray! While I have had a hunger twinge now and then, I honestly have not been hungry, and I think a good bit of that is fear. Fear of what it'll be like when I try to eat again. I've gone into this with attitude that if I'm going to spend this kind of money, time, family time, etc, then I'm going to do it right. I'm going to try to do it by the book. So, today I tried that with my foray back to solid foods. This morning I had one packet of instant oatmeal (with splenda and a bit of cinnamon!) and one boiled egg. I took an hour to eat it, and never once felt any food coming back at all. In fact, I didn't feel full either. I just considered it over and that was that. At about 11am, I got hungry. It was not crazy hungry, but just the feeling. For lunch, I had 3/4 cup of black-eyed peas (left over from new Year's.) and about 2 oz of ham. This time I took about 25 mins to eat it (mindfully chewing every step of the way). Again, no problems. None. I'll have to see how supper goes, but I'd say so far so good! :-)

20 days Post Op- Need Advice

Thank you to everyone that has posted their replies. I'm just beginning my foray back to foods today. I was banded on 12/31/09 and so far I've felt no restriction, yet have not gotten full either. It's ok though. If I'm going to go through this process, I'm going to abide by the rules. Each time I've eaten today I've only had at most a cup of food, and both were good food choices. No restriction, no fullness either. Let's stay strong through our bandster hell!

    Here's to Beginnings

So, I'm still new to the site, and decided today I'd do a blog post. I was banded on 12/31/09! What a way to start the year. My beginning weight at time of surgery is 308. I have no clue as to what weight I've lost so far, but I'm sure it's in the 8-10 pound range. I'm starting to get tired of the liquid part of the post-op diet. I have found that I'm not really hungry, but my stomach is growling like crazy. I have wondered if this is normal....

    I made it one year!

Wow! Your success is amazing, and you're well on your way to your goal. I was banded on 12/31/09, and am still in the liquid phase. Your success is inspiring. Thanks!
