Wow, I never thought I would be at this point. Never thought that it would even be possible....but the company I am working for is getting ready to change and the insurance that they have covers bariatric surgery (effective immediately). OMGosh.....Anyway, last March (2008) I was dx with osteoarthritis in my L knee. Had two rounds of injections, second not working. I am getting ahead of myself, when I was dx with arthritis I decided that, that was it, I needed to lose the weight, I couldn't put it off any longer. I started my "change in life" in April of 2008 and lost 60 pounds with diet and exercise. Then everything came to a hault in January. I was stuck on a plateau, kept working out, received the second round of knee injections, but to no avail, I couldn't lose. I went for an ortho surgeon second opinion in June of this year and had knee surgery on my L knee in July. I am still in some pain and still walking with a cane. I am working out now, riding about 5 miles a day but the weight is still not coming off. So here I am, my insurance starts in a little over a week and I have the opportunity to change my life. My primary physician's nurse had the lapband done in March of this year and swears by its success. I am going to my first seminar on Monday, I hope this is the answer to all my pain.
